09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Chris-She is flying into Dubuque Wed. for a meeting and returning Thursday afternoon. Is this anywhere near you?

Nope. That is over 4 hours away. It is on the east side of the state and we are in the middle. :upsidedow Bummer.

Well Tanya's trip was cancelled for now, she is going in March now.

A EARTHQUAKE in Illinois??? Hope everyone is safe and all is good!

Have a good day everyone

An earthquake in IL just doesn't sound right :confused3 . Hope everyone is OK.

Dave, I'm glad Tanya's not going anywhere now; it's probably better for her to wait.

Sue, I tried skiing when I was a lot younger but it ended up looking a lot more like sledding 'cause I spent more time on my derriere than on my skis :lmao: .

Good morning to all!

An earthquake? When did that happen? Sorry, but the news people out here are constantly talking about our blizzard, so I didn't hear anything else. Is everyone out that way okay? Did you all feel anything?

Ditto for being glad that Tanya is not traveling in this mess!

Wow, Joanne, we must have gone to the same ski school, because that's how I usually end up going down the mountain!! :rotfl:

Snowed here all last night until about 3 am or so, and it was up to about 8 or 9 inches. Then it changed to sleet and rain for a little while. Now we have changed back over to snow and it's just supposed to go down hill from here until midnight, with blizzard conditions settling in a little later! So I guess I'll go do some wash and then maybe do something fun, like bake some cookies!

Didn't even feel it! Must have been too tired from waiting up for Mark to get home after plowing at work. Needless to say Mark was even more tired.

The snow is done and it is a beautiful sunny day here in Chicagoland. Can't complain too much as it hasn't been a bad winter and Spring is just around the corner!

To all our friends West of us still cleaning up I hope you are enjoying the sunshine as well. To those to the East I hope the storm doesn't impact you too much.

Take care everyone and think warm thoughts like being on Castaway Cay!

Dave - Glad Tanya's trip was cancelled in this weather. March should be nicer.

Joanne - I know what you mean an earthquake in Il does not sound right. I wish I could say I did not feel it or hear it. I did not like it. I guess the center of it was in the suburb right next to ours. It sounded like they were plowing (but real loudthe streats. But when I left for work I realized that was not it. Then I heard on the radio it was an earthquake. So the noise I heard the house shaking and the dog jumping in my lap had nothing to do with it. They said to watch out for after shocks in the coming weeks. But all is safe and sound and that is all that matters.:)

take care

Flo, glad to hear that you are all well. When we lived in upstate NY we experienced a small earthquake during the night. It sounded like a 16-wheeler was driving through the bedroom. Scary!

We only got about 6 inches of snow today. It was hard to shovel because we had winds blowing it around; some of the gusts were around 40 mph so the snow would blow right back in our faces. We also have so much snow we didn't know where to put it. Some of the piles are now taller than I am. But I'm very grateful it wasn't more!

Robbie-Seems kind of strange you will be leaving NH to go to DC and have more snow down there...lol Have a safe trip!

:rotfl2: I know! Usually when I head down to Manassas it is warmer than here and about a month further along in the season than here. But not this time! This time, the temperature will be about the same as here and of course a lot more snow.

Again, everyone stay safe, warm and healthy, please. (Speaking of which, Dianne, any improvement?) And Tanya and Robbie, safe travels. (Robbie, my DH works in Manassas. We live about 40 miles SW of there.)

Good Morning to all my friends!

Sorry I haven't been on lately. A weekend up in the Poconos with our scouts for skiing, then came home on Sunday to almost two feet of snow! And bless my neighbors, not one of them thought to even give us a path to get to our front door - nope, not one! So we trudged through the lovely white stuff, and boy is it cold when you don't have your boots on, and got to the front door to get the shovel. Thank goodness we have a snow blower from our days when we used to live at the scout camp. I did the front walk to the garage, and John went in from the back and fired it up. We had to leave the car running in the street because there was no place else to put it! Took us about an hour, but finally got the car in the driveway and came in!

DH used to go up and down the entire street and do everyone's walkway - but now he's having second thoughts about that! No seriously, he probably still will do that anyway. ;)

We are forecast for another 12 - 24 inches starting tonight! I hope it waits until DS is home from his first rehearsal for All SJ Band. And DH will probably have to stay out and help the other camp ranger do all of the plowing.

Well, I was due , I guess, because I was the only one who hadn't been sick yet this winter - boy did I start with a nasty cold yesterday. I am so congested - I feel pretty lousy!

Oh, back to the ski trip - it went great! The kids all had a blast. We did an indoor waterpark on Saturday and then skiing on Sunday. We only got about an inch and a half of snow up there, so it was easy to get around. Sunday was beautiful - the sky was a bright blue, although it was pretty cold and a bit breezy - but nice all the same. Best part of the trip, everyone had a great time and no one got injured!! :yay:

Well, off I go to mom's house - make sure that she has everything she needs to be snowed in - again! Hope I don't give her this cold. I'll have to give long-distance kisses today! Be back on later - have a good day everyone.

Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. pixiedust:

I'm glad to hear that you had a great time skiing.

It looks like a Christmas card outside right now. It's actually snowing quite heavily. They've closed a lot of the schools here for the week! DGD7 is here, as is DGD21mos. Oh, yeah, and their moms, too, so we've got a full house. It's cute watching the 2 girls play together.

I'm just hoping that airports open up in time for my flight Friday with of course the planes in the correct spot. Also, if my flight makes it down to Manassas, I hope that DC reopens for the weekend.

That sounds fantastic! I hope that someday I'll have little people around, but my boys don't seem to be in any hurry!

It hasn't quite started here yet, but it should be anytime now!

Dustin went to his first rehearsal for the All SJ Band today, but just as they arrived (after an hour or so drive) they canceled the practice!! But they at least gave them their music so that they could see what selections they were going to be playing - he's so excited that he's in his room practicing already! He sounds pretty good for the first time through each piece!!

That is awesome that he is so excited. :thumbsup2

Earthquake in Illinois????

Dave - glad to hear Tanya's trip was cancelled so she can stay safe at home. This weather is just unpredictable this year. We finally had a day with no snow but more is headed for the weekend. :headache:

Flo - wow you felt the earthquake? That is something I have never experienced and hope not to. Glad all is well for you.

Robbie - hope you are able to travel Friday. Sounds like a fun trip.

Sue - what kinda cookies? That sounds good to me. I'm not a good cookie baker so my family doesn't get them very often. So you must be feeling better. Sorry to hear about your selfish neighbors. Can't believe that they can't help your family when John helps them. Some people, what can you say.

Good Morning DIS Friends.

I am not sure at what point in these storms cycles I last posted. But, for the storm last weekend we got over 2 feet and I have no idea how much we got yesterday. With the wind blowing so much it was hard to tell really how much fell. I just know it was alot!!! Put it this way, when the snow plow came by the first time it put a wall of snow 3-4 feet high in front of the drive way. Ugh!!

Glad to hear everyone is doing well despite the snow, colds, etc.

Things are pretty much the same here with the exception of the kids being home from school. They are loving all of the snow but I keep telling them they are not going to be happy when they are in school until July. At this point they will be in school until June 24. I think we might be getting more snow this weekend. :headache:

Well, gotta go. Take care and stay safe.

My kids are in the same boat Lisa. Only they don't like the snow. You should hear them when they hear that school is either delayed or cancelled. They are saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!". I never thought I would hear my kids say that they are sick of missing school! But they are.

And we are expecting more snow here this weekend too. We have had snow on the ground since the first time it snowed in December. I think the weather guy said over 65 days now that we have had snow on the ground of at least 5 inches. Boy, when it melts this spring we are going to have a muddy mess. I just hope we don't have the flooding like we did back in 1993! That was a horrible year.

Take care everybody and stay safe! :flower3:

Helllllllooooooooo?

Is anyone thereeeeeeeee?

Or is everyone snowbound and stuck at home?

Stay Safe Everybody!

Good morning Chris and the rest of the sunrise club and all my other fellow cruisers. Sorry haven't been around much. Got involved in one of Mark's online games and have been having fun playing that. Too much fun as it sucks time out of nowhere. :lmao:

Looks to be another beautiful but cold day here in Chicagoland.

Tomorrow we head down to Navy Pier to see some friends of ours from Florida (we've cruised with them twice and will be cruising with them in July). Their daughter is competing in a gymnastics tournament there.

Have a great day and a great weekend everyone!

Good Morning Chris and Mary....and the rest of my DIS friends!!

It is very sunny here today also but there is just sooooooo much snow everywhere. I am tired of it and I think the kids have finally had enough.

Kids are off today through Monday for President's holiday but I have to work today. I do get Monday off though. :cool1:

I am wishing for Spring and wishing I were back on the Wonder heading to Castaway Cay. So excited just thinking about SSMC11. Although the cruise is so far off what is exciting is knowing we book this November :cool1: I am counting down to that weekend. I am thinking it will be the weekend of Nov 6/7. Mark your calendars!!!! :thumbsup2 I am trying to remember if the call in day was Saturday or Sunday. I will have to go back and look at the old posts to see.

I'll figure it all out and create a countdown. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!!!

Dreaming of the Coffee Club and Deck 9! :cloud9:

Good Morning!!

Yep, that's where I was alright, Chris! In a very rare sleep-in-alittle moment, I was dreaming of the Coffe Club and Deck 9!!

It's still very white here! Haven't seen this much snow in a long long time. It used to snow like this when I was growing up here, but we haven't had much in recent winters. Well, it's making up for lost time - all at once. It is official, this is a record amount of snow in this area - for all the years that they have been keeping records! I took some pix yesterday, I'll see if I can get them on line - yea, I know you are still waiting for the fashion photos of me at the race track!

Kids are off today again - well, this was a planned day off. They had planned for Friday and Monday off for President's Day weekend. Now with the Wednesday and Thursday prior to that off, this has become a mini holiday for them. I told DS he could probably kiss the Easter break goodbye!

If my nose stops running and I don't cough as much today, I may actually break out my paints and try to get something fun done. I should go to mom's but really don't want to give her this cold, so I think I'll wait til tomorrow. Thank goodness her power stayed on. We had a few moments where I thought it was going to go all the way, but it just flickered!

So what are you doing this weekend, Chris? Mary, your weekend plans sound like fun!

Hi Lisa!

All dug out yet from our lovely snow! How much did you guys get from the last blast? We got another 18" on top of Saturday's 21". And more snow on Monday!! :rotfl:

Call-in day is usually a Saturday! And yes, we will have that day marked on the calendar too!

Good Morning everyone,

Have been very busy here at work and running kids around. Hope everyone is feeling good again, and all shoveled out from their latest snow. They had predicted 8-12 here, but we got less than 2" and it has all melted away. Very strange weather year.
I am so missing the coffee club and deck nine, and can't wait until we all meet up again! What great memories. And to think I used to sit up there all alone :lmao::rotfl2:

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey there, Flash!

Glad you could "swoop" in for a visit!! hehehe :rotfl:

I guess busy is better than sitting around doing nothing, so sounds like things are kinda normal up there. If you'd like me to speak to the weather guys, I could ask them to share a little of our white stuff!! We've got plenty to go around. :rotfl2:

So do you have a Sunrise Coffee Club started for the WBTA yet? Let me know if you need buttons, I could talk to DBFF!!
