09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Flo, how did your new job go today? This is a 3 day week for me also. Of course, next week is also a 3 day week for me because I head to WDW a week from Thursday. :thumbsup2

I haven't gone out on black Friday in many years. I used to head up to the Maine outlets on Black Friday, but probably for the last 10 years or so, I have just stayed home and avoided the chaos.

Mary & Mark, have a great time at WDW! pixiedust:

Chris, this has been a busier month than I thought between getting a new TV in the living room and going away on business last week. My trip last week was for a management training class that was down outside of DC. It was an excellent course and had us look inside ourselves, i.e. it was taught my psychologists. Of course a week from Thursday can't come quick enough since that is the start of my WDW trip. :goodvibes

In case people are heading off for the holiday:

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Hi All! Remember me? :lmao: I've been MIA for a while. I just read a few of the posts and saw that Flo has a new job! WTG Flo!!! That's great news. What industry? You must be so excited!

The company I work for is talking about RIFs at the end of the year. What are RIFs you ask? Hmm! I never heard the term before working here either. I guess someone must've attended a Human Resources conference about letting staff go. My place says they have Reductions In Force (RIFs)!

I hope everyone is doing well. I know many of you are on Facebook and I am too but haven't gotten into any of the games or whatever MafiaWars, Farmville, etc. are. After the cruise, I haven't been on Facebook as much as I was before.

So . . . how many of you are going on the next member cruise? I know someone who was going to try and call in. I don't know if she made it through or not. I actually told her about this site, the wealth of knowledge, great people and friends I've made along the way. :grouphug:

Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. We will be going to Philadelphia to spend Thanksgiving with Shawn. We did this last year because he works retail. He loves that we go down and I'd love  to say it's because he misses us it but I think it's more because he gets to keep all of the leftovers!

Hi Annmarie!

THanks for hte congrats! They make grills.

Morning Everyone!

One more day of work this week..:) I have a choice tomorrow. The factory people are coming in at 4:00AM and working till 12:30PM. I could do that to. Not sure if I want to. I would have to get up at 3:00AM!:scared1: They are having a lunch at 11:00 tomorrow for evryone. I thought that was nice.

Dave - We used to be out at the wee hours of the morning on Black Friday when DS was little to get the toys he wanted. Now no. If they don't have it he is old enough to understand that he has to wait.:)

Sue - :wizard:for your migrane. I used to get them but I have been lucky lately. I know how you feel.

Hey Robbie, where are you staying? We'll be at Jambo House on the 6th.

Flo, how is your tooth? I just had a 3-hour session at the dentist's last week and have to go back on Saturday for a crown. What fun. Not.

Monika, good to hear from you. Hope you have a wonderful and healthy Thanksgiving. That goes for everyone.

I am starting at 4:00AM today but the good news is I work till 12:30.

Joanne -- Sorry about your tooth. Since I got it pulled it is great.;) I can eat on that side. As of now I have no planson having it replaced$$$$.

and all of my cruisin' buddies!

Well, one more day til it's Turkey Time! Mine is in the frig defrosting - got my freebie from ShopRite! And although it's just us plus my mom, I really wanted leftovers and I always pack up some for mom, so it's a 20 lb. bird! YUM! :thumbsup2

Have lots of little things to do today and it's kinda dreary at the moment - and it's not forecast to be much better. Oh well! DS has a half day and then he and a few a his friends are going to help make the Plum Pudding for Christmas! I use my great-grandmother's recipe and special bowl that came directly from the family in England, so it is an authentic Christmas Pudding! It takes a while to cut up all of the ingredients and then after you get it all mixed, it goes into the greased bowl, tightly covered with waxed paper and a linen cloth and then steamed for four hours! You really have to keep an eye on it to make sure the pan doesn't get dry. Then it will get stored in a dry place until Christmas and then it has to be steamed for an hour before you are ready to serve it. We warm some brandy to pour over it and then light her up!! It's really great!

Have to bake the pies for tomorrow too. I'll do apple, cause it's mom's favorite and also pumpkin cause it's DS and DH's favorite. ;)

What's everybody else doing today? Flo's up really early! And Joanne, notice I didn't say I got ALL the leaves out - just the ones in my garden. I was still hoping for a windy day that would take the rest - hehehe! :rotfl:

Good morning everyone! Happy Wednesday!

Last day of work for me until December 7th!

Been busy trying to get everything ready for the road trip and I think we are set. We leave the house EARLY tomorrow and should be in Disney by Friday afternoon. We'll have turkey sandwhiches on the road to celebrate Thanksgiving.

BTW there is a thread on the main forum and was talking abour morning room service and waking up a sleeping spouse so I just had to tell them about our great sunrise group. You guys are the best.

Wishing everyone a WONDERful Thanksgiving. Know that I'm am thankful for having met and sailed with all of you!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow cruisers. Hope you have a joyous day.

Hi Annmarie! I hope that everything goes OK with the RIF. pixiedust: I won't be doing next year's cruise, but I am thinking about the year after.

Flo, I understand completely about the $$$$. They want to put in a bridge (costing a bundle) in a spot that has been empty for 40 years. I said it's been fine for 40 years so leave it alone.

Wow, Sue, that pudding sounds absolutely incredible! What time should we be there? :rotfl:

DH and I were talking about the leaves again today (notice I said talking, not raking ;) ). We both agree that we'll tackle them when they have dried up from all the rain. It's only logical, right?

Happy, healthy Thanksgiving, friends. Enjoy and be safe. :flower3:

Lisa congrats on the weight loss, Hope things will get better for you soon

Thanks Diane!!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Wow, Lisa, you were up really late last night! Busy as usual I see. Good Luck with the Scouting for Food today. Our boys are going to be bringing in food during their next few meetings and then at Christmas we will take it all to one of the local food pantries. Its a good thing that our Scouts do, isn't it! :thumbsup2
Hi Sue! Saturday was a very busy day. Picked up DS at 9am and then DD, DS, and I heading out to our assigned streets. The trunk of my car was filled to the top. We took it to the drop off location and then helped count, check expiration dates, sort, and then pack all the items that were brought in. I do not know what the final count was for that day. We got back home around 1:00. My hands are still sore from all the cuts and scratches I got that day. It is a really great event for the boys and DD loves to participate.

Good Morning Lisa and Dianne and anyone else who is up!

Lisa, you go, girl! I don't know how you do it, but rock on. Have you tried the Skippyjon Jones books w/DD? I love reading them out loud to my DGDs; they're so funny.
Hi Joanne! I have not read any of the Skippyjon Jones books yet. DS had read them in school when he was younger. DS actually bought DD two of the books at the book fair last week. We put them away for Christmas.

Flo, congratulations on the new job! :yay:

Lisa, congratulations on the weight loss!

Thanks Robbie!

:thumbsup2Lisa

Thanks Robbie and Flo!!!
I've actually been pulling out some of my old clothes. :thumbsup2 But, now I am finding many of them are out of style. I refuse to go buy new clothes though until I get to my goal weight. Still have a ways to go but I am very pleased with my accomplishments this year.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!!!

Enjoy your day. I will be working on my school work. No cooking for me. My sister has been harassing me about joining them for dinner. The whole family has been giving me a hard time about staying home and doing school work. So, I guess I will make a brief appearance. The problem is they are not the ones staying up all night doing their school work.

But, only 21 days left of this class and then I am done until March.

Have a great week and I will try to check in some time next week.

Safe travels for all those on the road this week.:drive:

Regards, Lisa
