Chris - Congrats on the new dress and good luck finding a new pair of shoes.

Sorry to say I don't do dresses or heales. I could not tell you the last time I had a dress on.

Mary and Mark - Glad you had a good time.

Take care

Thanks Flo. Can't wait to wear it. I don't do dresses alot, but DH likes it when I do. The body just ain't what it used to be though! :lmao:

Good morning everyone!

I have a question, is anyone bringing an extra bag for all the "gifts" that DVC gives on this cruise.

I remember the 2005 member cruise, I had so much extra stuff to bring home!

Ravonne

Ravonne,

It is funny that you ask this. ;) We are taking 2 suitcases for a 4 day we could get a way with one. Reason being is to fit the gifts they give us on the cruise. I would rather be safe then sorry.

I've thought about packing a smaller suitcase then nesting that suitcase in a larger one!

Have all the member cruises given away as many things as the 2005 one did?

Good morning Member Cruisers!
We sail in 7 weeks!

We're at seven, isn't that heaven?

Looks great to me.

Good morning Mary (and Mark)! There is an Irish Fest near us and for some reason have never attended. I will need to put in my calendar as a "must do" next summer. With me being the way I am there was no way we could've gone this year but it will be a lot of fun to go next year. Did you see alot of people in German attire?

By the way, I am gettiing excited for this cruise. I feel like a child on Christmas Eve - seeing a lot of presents under the tree and I can only open one gift! We used to let DS open one but now that I think about this, it is kind of cruel. Give them a little bit and make them wait til the morning after Santa drops off more gifts. :rotfl:

Annmarie

We did the same with our kids

My biggest concern is that I have not been able to wear anything but sneakers on my feet. I am hoping I can find something else to wear between now and the cruise. I think I need to buy a new dress too.

Look at Crocs on line..some times they have some very stylish shoes..they feel great on the feet.

and the answere is yes, I will be nesting an extra suitcase.

Oh my goodness. :rotfl2: I forgot all about the pirate: and princess: Congrats to Flo and Chris! Well, I've got to go. We are having friends over for dinner and I haven't made dessert yet. Can someone tell Mother Nature that last night's weather forecast showed partly cloudy! Oh well! We'll make the best of it. Have a good day everone! Annmarie

Wow, this sure looks like heaven to me! Thanks for the Sunday morning post, Mary. So glad that you and Mark had a nice day yesterday. And yes, it is wash day today here too!

Good Sunday Morning!

Oh, Mary, the seven weeks looks great. It really is approaching us fast. It sounds like you and Mark had a fun day yesterday. But, like you, today is a day of laundry and me and my mom may can some green beans. I have a ton from the garden.

Yesterday we went and did a little shopping. I got a new dress to wear to Palo. DH told me he was tired of the same one that I always wear and I should get a new one. So I did! ;) Now I need to try to find some shoes to go with it. Usually I like to wear black and this dress is navy blue. So, a little more shopping for me! :rotfl: And if I remember right, there is no formal night on this cruise, right? Everything is just cruise casual?

We also bought the Wii Fit yesterday. I'm a little sore this morning from trying it out. Hopefully it will help me a little bit before the cruise, since I like to eat, :lmao: I just have to keep with it. :)

I agree!! Everyone should have at least one new dress! Shoes are always my biggest problem - can't go too high or I'll be taller than DH - and I'm pretty clumsy in them anyway!

Ravonne

Good Morning Ravonne!
Like you, the 2005 was our last MC and we did get so much stuff - so I'm bringing and extra bag and keeping my fingers crossed that it will be just as nice this time!

Wow, everyone was up early today with so much chatter! DS slept over at a friends house and it was the first time in about 5 months that we've had the opportunity to "sleep in" !! :rotfl: I was about 9:15 when I got up and I feel like half the day is gone - oh, that is so sad on my part!!

Have lots to do today and hopefully the weather will hold out, but we are forecast for bad thunderstorms later around dinner - we'll see. Trying to get the family boat fixed and running. And my poor little cat, Belle, has fleas - don't ask me how because she is strictly an indoor cat !!! but we now have to do alot of vacuuming and spraying and cleaning - then give her a flea treatment! Sounds like so much fun - I'd rather be cruising !! :lmao:

Good morning everyone - happy Sunday!

We had a really nice Saturday. We took the Amtrak train up north to Milwaukee and spent the day at German Fest. We've gone to Irish Fest for many many years on the SummerFest grounds but never did any of the others. Mark suggested trying German Fest this year (he's Polish/German). Since we only wanted to go up for the day and since the tri-state tollway which we would take is under construction we opted for the train. It worked out great. We drove to the Glenview station which is only about 10-15 minutes from our house. Caught the train up to Milwaukee and then walked to the Fest grounds (about a mile). It was a lot of fun seeing the fest grounds decorated for a different fest than we are used to and seeing all the food they have to offer.

About 3:30 we caught the bus back downtown and it let us off about 3 block from the station. We hung out there for a while and caught the 5:45 train back home. We were back in the house by 7 pm.

All in all a fun day. My ankle is feeling it a bit this morning from all the walking but not too bad.

Today is stay at home for laundry and all those other fun weekend chores.

Have a great day everyone!

Wow, that sounds like a great time! I have never been to a German Festival before but I bet it was fun.

Are you referring to the one in N. Easton? If so, it has been at least 5 years since I went to it due to other conflicting plans but I used to love it.

Chris, congratulations on the :bride:.
Flo, congratulations on the pirate:.

Annmarie if you get the chance go to your local Irish Fest next year. We always have a great time. We have our favorite bands we like to see year after year and always like to listen to some news one as well. Not to mention to shopping and cultural exhibits. We did see quite a few people dressed up in traditional German attire, especially in the parade.

Good morning Mary and Mark
Though I would jump over and say Hi.
Well Nancy and I arrived back home Friday afternoon after our annual tow weeks at York Beach Maine. This was our 35 year of going.
Well Mary we called yesterday to make our final payment for our 7 day cruise in Oct. We thought about using half cash and points but went all cash so that means we will have almost 400 points to use next year.
Last night Joanne made all your resivations for us she could do it because we are linked. As of now we will be dining with Joanne and Roger and Leisha and Tom.
Now girl how have you been doing. I hope everything is going well?
We are sure going to miss you guys this year.

Hi Nancy and Dan - so nice of you to check in. Doing good so far. Only three more chemo sessions to go! How cool that you have your October cruise paid off. I know you will have a great time with the gang. Tell everyone we said hi!

Good Sunday Morning!

Congrats on the new dress. I bought a new one for our 7 day cruise last year and plan to wear it on the wedding cruise next year. For this cruise no dress for me as we are only doing Palo for brunch.
My biggest concern is that I have not been able to wear anything but sneakers on my feet. I am hoping I can find something else to wear between now and the cruise. I think I need to buy a new dress too.

I'll second the suggestion to look at crocs online. I can't wear heels ever since I broke my ankle (many many years ago) and have found some cute flats from them.

Ravonne

We have the large canvas bag that we got on SSMC05. That's what we carry all the buttons and other things in and we that to bring the gifts home. It helps by driving because we don't have to worry about how many bags we have or what they weigh.

Flo - yes the count down does look better and better! :woohoo::woohoo:

Congrats on the :bride: Chris!

Chris - Congrats on the new dress and good luck finding a new pair of shoes.

Congrats on the pirate: Flo!

Ravonne

DVC has always given away some pretty large gifts. Started with the 2003 cruise when we were all packed before dinner (our one and only time we did late seating. Came back to find out DVC had given us a limited edition tea pot! That was the last time we flew to a Member Cruise. :) I hope they give us something different than the small suitcases they did in 2007 and 2008. Cute if you have kids but we don't and we've given the ones we've gotten away already. I like the large canvas bag we got in 2005 much better.

Thanks everyone for the congrats on the :bride:. I left the computer for a little bit and my oldes DD hijacked it from me so I couldn't reply earlier. But thanks.

And congrats to you too Flo on the pirate:.

Back to this :laundy: and I need to fix the family some breakfast. I don't get to excited about this on the weekends so we eat more of a brunch.

:flower3:

I have to say I totally agree about the crocs. I bought a pair (Mickey ones) jsut to try them. I love them. I wear them all the time.

take care

Someone on the discussion part of the board had said that DCL web site changed. So I decided to check it out. Boy it sure did. It is all different. I went into my res because they also said that it does not tell you any more what time you have for dinning and they were correct. I don’t like that. It may be some were but now you have to figure out how to navigate a new site.

Take care and have a good day.

Congrats, chris and Flo ....on the pirate and princess,, I did not make it in time...oh well ,

Hey, as far as the crocs fo I have even a pair with a heel, That make me feel like I am in sneakers. I can wear them all day.

I am a bit off balance most of the time, but these have a big enough of a heel, that it works for me.

Have a great day!

The 2005 DVC Member cruise they gave some awesome gifts. I loved them but they were extremely hard to get home. When I got back to WDW I had them shipped to my home address. On that Member Cruise we had the three of us (DH, DD and myself) along with a friend of the DD. The extra person even made it more of a challenge to get those wonderful gifts home.

Since the 2005 Members cruise the gifts have been much smaller (and in my opinion, less exciting). I think they received such negative feedback on the size of the gifts from 2005 they have not given such nice gifts since. Usually the last night is when you get the biggest item which can be like a throw or a larger picture/print. Other than that you typically only get a lot of pins and little items. I am hoping this year they go back to the much nicer gifts and we as members just need to pack an extra bag to get it home. I don't mind that at all....:thumbsup2

Actually I think it was 2006 that had the biggest gift. The large wood box with a scrapbook inside. Someone we talked to about shipping them home said it weighed like 30 pounds for 2 (maybe 3) of them.

Well with all this talk of needing new shoes and crocs. We stopped at Sports Authority while we were out today and I picked these up:

patricia_10386_side_22H.jpg

Since I'll be wearing mostly tan and khaki slacks for dinner they should work nice.

I am hoping for some nice gifts....I am coming prepared. I also got my self an owners locker...And right now has nothing in it. so I can always leave things I don't need to cart back and forth.
