Hi Vicki! Sip N Stroll is an event held during Food & Wine for D23 members. Last year they held a private "Party for the Senses" plus culinary demostrations and wine tastings. There was reserved seating for Jon Secada's Eat to the Beat concert and a private viewing of Illuminations and dessert party. The tickest included park admission and tickets to Disney Quest and a $50 gift card to enjoy lunch at the Food & Wine festival. I am waiting to see when they will announce tickets to go on sale and how much they will be.

Having a REALLY lousy week. Our dog is really sick, and after getting a little better, he's now had a relapse.... We were cautiously optomistic before, but it's getter harder to stay that way....might be a long weekend.....

But one of the things I love about DVC, is that there's always something wonderful to look forward to... like 24 days until the cruise!!

So, to take my mind off of things, I'm going to pour myself a beer and start to fill out my Passporter guide I got for the cruise! Disney's always a good way to take my mind off stuff I need to get away from, if only for a little while.....

I am sorry to hear about your dog. I hope he gets better.

Having a REALLY lousy week. Our dog is really sick, and after getting a little better, he's now had a relapse.... We were cautiously optomistic before, but it's getter harder to stay that way....might be a long weekend.....

Good Morning everyone! It has been a busy few days for me. TGIF!

What are your plans for the weekend? We have a 7 year old birthday party to go to on Saturday.

And, on Sunday, don't forget about our virtual sail away party beginning at 4:45 p.m. hope to be chatting with a lot of you. I looked at the schedule and the Wonder will be departing Port Canaveral every Sunday from now until it is our time.

Good morning! I am a nervous wreck this morning! How silly of me! Just found out last night that my daughters daycare doesn't know if they'll be able to accommodate her AND they took my money yesterday and let me register my daughter for the after school care (school starts Tuesday) without saying a word to me! So, I have to find out what the deal is and possibly demand a refund of my "non refundable" deposit. I found out from an employee there that actually resigned from her position on Tuesday because of how they run things there. I HATE confrontations and I am so frustrated with the YMCA right now, so I'll probably just lose my temper and not hold back! And that's soooo NOT like me! So, that's why I'm so nervous....I know I have a fight on my hands today! lol

BUT...TGIF!!!!!! My only definite plans this weekend would be my sister's bachellorette party tomorrow night. We're going up to Chicago to a deuling piano bar! Should be fun, but I hope we're not there till 2:00 am!!! Oh boy!

Debbie - I am with Chris - open that can......that is SOOOOO wrong!!!!

As for the weekend - DH has to work tomorrow and I was supposed to go to a picnic for one of my professional organizations but my DSIL who said she would watch the girls sent a text message saying she got invited to a bday party and could we find someone for the last couple of hours.....this is like the 3rd time she has done this and my reason for never asking her but DH tries to give her the benefit of the doubt....!!!!

Sunday we are moving my baby sitter into college we are 16 years apart and she is like one of my girls.....I'm not handling this so well and neither is DD6 who thinks my DSis is the best thing in the world!!!!

I was just reading on the cruise boards a thread about having your names announced when you board the ship. Does everyone use their real names or have any of you opted to use a creative name? I am toying with the idea of going the creative route since I am easily amused

That's the craziest part...they didn't tell me, an ex-employee told me. The YMCA never intended to tell me. They just assumed that I knew. They are the biggest joke. I wrote a big long note on facebook and posted it for everyone to see how awful they are running things there.

They would take her, but there is an hour gap of when she would arrive at the school and when they would have someone available to watch her. And the school won't watch her because she's not registered in the school district where we live. It's such a mess. But here's an update:


1. The person who informed me of this crazy mess has offered to watch her after school. The only problem with that is her house is 17 miles away from my house and therefore 17 miles out of my way because it's 17 miles in the opposite direction of where I work. But, if all else fails, I have that option.

2. I called a daycare to see if they have any openings for after school care. They do, but they had to get special permission from the owner of the daycare to take her earlier than when our schools let out. So that ALMOST didn't work out. But that's another option I have.

3. I called the special education coop that has placed her in the school that she's in (it's in the next city over in a totally different school corporation). I told them that they have to be able to place her in a classroom in our school district. I told them my current daycare is not able to accommodate the schedule and it's no longer an option to have her in a different school corporation due to scheduling conflicts. They HAVE to have an inclusion classroom they can place her in within our school district. They scheduled a case conference for Monday at noon. That has got to be the FASTEST case conference that has ever been scheduled in the history of case conferences!

So, that's what happened with all of my phone calls today. I feel a little better but I am going to file a formal complaint against the directors at the YMCA for not feeling the need to inform me of this and possibly leaving my child STRANDED.

Is it September 12th yet?!!!!!! I have such a headache from all the worrying I did this morning, shame on the staff at the YMCA!


I also have some cute news to share: DS is only 10 years old and he has a DATE tomorrow night! LOL!!! He has talked about his girlfriend, Grace, all summer long. She went to the YMCA, too. Well, she called him about an hour ago and asked him to go to the roller skating rink with him tomorrow night. I wish I could chaperone but I have to go to my sister's bachelorette party.

A few years ago we had three families with three different last names. Funny part is that it was my mother in law, my sister in law and us. Anyways, our last name is "Burgess", my mother in law's last name is "Kauffman" and my sister in law's last name is "Tinoco". So, we had T-shirts made up AND got introduced as "Burkauffinoco" family. (Burgess = Bur, Kauffman = Kauff, Tinoco = inoco)

Ah, your family names mixed well DH and I have different last names. I am Pennington and he is Nguyen, these don't blend well. In Vietnamese culture the women often keep their maiden names after marriage. Watching Wally spell and pronounce his last name for people all the time before we got married convinced me to keep mine even though I am not Vietnamese So if we are going on board with 2 different last names I figured maybe we can be Bart Ender and Ivanna Margarita

I never met his dad, the guy took off several years before I met DH. (I get my opinion of his dad from my mother in law's horrible stories that she tells) DH doesn't have any family around from his dad's side. So, he really has no "family ties" to his last name. Whereas, my family name is involved in politics (and they're clean politicians, not crazy scandals like in Chicago) AND my dad and uncle are both police officers. So, I figured why not have him take my name?! But, I couldn't convince him to do it, so I hyphenated my name on my social security card and my drivers license. It HAS gotten me out of a couple of traffic tickets!

It's funny how some people get attached to their last name. I kept mine because I like the sound of it and it is easy to pronounce compared to Wally's Definitely not because it is my biological father's last name That guy abandoned us after the divorce and I didn't see or hear from him for over 30 years. Then one day he "finds" me and wants to play the role of "dad" Uhm, no. On second thought, maybe I should take Wally's last name then again, I don't have the patience like he does to spell and pronounce it all the time I don't mind for my Disboard friends though It is pronounced "win" as in "win the lottery" in case anyone was wondering.
