09/12/10 - DVCers Take Over the Wonder (S.S. Member Cruise 2010) - Thread #1

I have seen this several times. Could someone tell me what it means by found on page 2?

This will be the last of my snow talk because my nerves are shot and I want to talk about other stuff. Out of school again today. That has been since the 5th. My boys said they are ready to go back to school. See the snow has made us all crazy lol. Our problem is Frederick City has done a poor job removing snow and the drifting continues on the county roads. They asked us to shovel out the bus stops lol lol lol. I did that with the storm and they now have over 15 foot high piles of snow from the front end loader they brought in. I told the guy on the phone they can do it as we had it cleared in our neighborhood and they screwed it up.


We are coming in Friday night the 10th and are staying at WL. We will be heading for the airport after the trip as I have to be in school Friday morning. They are frowning on me taking 4 of my personal days anyway but need to get home to my boys.

I was going to try and stay at BLT before the cruise but could not get a straight answer if we could lug our luggage over to WL for the cruise ship bus.

I saw that Frederick Co. schools were closed today and thought about you. I know quite a few kids were ready to go back to school because they did not want to be in school for the entire month of June and they were bored at home.

I am tired of all the snow talk too. I will be so glad when spring is here.

What snow? I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't hear anything about snow.

You shouldn't give up on BLT...maybe if you call the two resorts directly and ask for the general manager at each resort and see what kind of an answer you can get then. It could work...maybe?

Found us on page 2. Totally unacceptable. Hope everyone is having a good day.

It's that darn thing called going to bed and sleeping and having to get up and go to work that's getting in the way....I can't access the DISboards from work otherwise I'd make sure we stay on page 1.

Well, the week is halfway over! I can't wait till this weekend! It's been a really long boring week at work so far!

Well I made it to work yesterday and actually had patients come in!!! Then after ebing giddy with excitement I called my DMom and FORCED her to go to bingo with me last night - I was getting out while I could!!! We didn't win but had fun anyway. Our current status is a 2hr delay I am trying to contain myself because the possiblity to cancel is still there BUT................please please please.

Since we have never cruised - I think we will use Disney Transportation to get to BLT - and to the Port - so far all the reports I have read have been positive. We are car rental people- we like to be able to get to other resorts wo bus transfers plus DD2 is a real piece of work on the buses - did I mention she's a difficult child?! However since we will be at BLT I see no need for a car!!!!!

Everyone have a great day!!! If we all chant together SPING! SPRING! SPRING! Maybe it will happen!!!

UPDATE: MY KID IS GOING TO SCHOOL!!!! Yes after 8 snow days our district is going back today!!!!!

Yeah, since we are getting in late Friday night we are going to be getting a rental car. We have a hotel reserved close to the airport, then first thing Saturday we are going to drive to Vero Beach and spend the night. Sunday we will take the car to the rental place and have them take us to the ship. It works pretty slick cuz we did this last year for the cruise. Then on Thursday when we get off take the transportation to BLT then Sunday take ME to the airport. Just thinking about it is getting me all excited!

Well I made it to work yesterday and actually had patients come in!!! Then after ebing giddy with excitement I called my DMom and FORCED her to go to bingo with me last night - I was getting out while I could!!! We didn't win but had fun anyway. Our current status is a 2hr delay I am trying to contain myself because the possiblity to cancel is still there BUT................please please please.

The information I have received from DCL is that the transfer bus does not pick up at BLT or Contemporary. If you are using Disney Bus service to port canaveral you might want to look into that.

Thanks for the Info Scott - we are actually going to BLT after the cruise. DH has to work until 6pm the sat before the cruise so we will be flying in Sun morning and going straight to the port!!

WE HAVE BEEN ON 3 OTHER MEMBER CRUISES USUALLY WITH A BALCONY. THIS YEAR I DIDNT GET THRU UNTIL 3pm AND ENDED UP IN DECK 1 BUT AT LEAST ON SHIP. BUT WE ARE ON CANCELATION WAIT LIST TO MOVE UP. WE USUALLY SIT WITH SAME GROUP OF 8 LATE DINNER. CAN ANYONE HELP ME REGISTER INTO YOUR CRUISE GROUP FROM DIS MEMBERS. I ENJOY MEETING NEW PEOPLE. IT WILL BE MYSELF AND DISNEY WIFE.

Glad you found us. There is no need to register. Just read the first post on this thread which will tell you how to get your picture (if you want to) on the unofficial 2010 members cruise website, how to sign up for our fish extender exchange, and if you are on facebook we are there too. What years did you go on the members cruise? This will be my second members cruise. We were on last year's cruise and had a blast. Are you staying at WDW before or after the cruise? My family and I will be staying at Saratoga Springs for two nights before the cruise and at AKV for four nights after the cruise. I'm so excited. I can't wait!

So sorry to hear that you didn't get thru early enough to get a balcony, but at least you got on the ship!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on that wait list. We do late dining, too...seems to give us more time during the day to do other things we want to on the ship. We'd love to have you join in on the Fish Extender Exchange! I used to play with my mom and aunt sometimes but they are both smokers and I am not.....I couldn't stand the smoking areas and I wanted to sit with them...since there is no smoking any longer I have been going with them. We go to our local firehall - very close to our home and the firemen who responded first to our house fire............!!! So supporting them is an added bonus!!!

Does anyone have any exciting plans this weekend? My dad is running for County Assessor and we're supposed to go walking door to door for him, but we REALLY need to finish a large project we started here at our house a month ago...my son's BED. He's been sleeping on the couch and we really need to finish his loft bed that we're building so he can have his bedroom back! So, I'm thinking my dad is going to have to wait to add us to his group of walkers for another week.

Sounds like there is a Bingo group here. I have never played on the ship. I used to go play Bingo with my mom when I was a kid but I'd never win. So good luck to you that play! I may have to try it sometime.

We have no big plans for the weekend. Just trying to get ready for Spring Break. Only three more weekends till we leave!

Also, glad to hear you haven't had snow for a couple of days and the kids were able to get to school. We are supposed to maybe get an inch or two today. So, it might be headed your way. Hope not though.

Ok, I have a really crazy question, please don't laugh at me! I can't find my answer anywhere and DH isn't home for me to ask. So, here goes: Is our cruise itinerary as follows:
9/12 - Embarkation Day
9/13 - Castaway Cay
9/14 - Day at Sea
9/15 - Castaway Cay
9/16 - Disembarkation Day?

I'm really hoping we don't go to Nassau. They wouldn't do that to us on a Member Cruise, would they?

I think the kids can play along with the parents, but I believe the parents have to collect the winnings if the child is under the age of 18. Does anyone else know for certain?
