Good morning everybody! I am so excited that I just have to share the news. Ok so this all started, truth be told, when DH and I were watching the HGTV episode about WDW and the holiday decorations
I love seeing the decorations up at WDW and so does DH...sigh. So of course, I am missing the whole feeling of being there, the holiday spirit and all the pretty lights
I voice my feelinggs to DH... Ok actually I whined and said, Aaaawwww, no fairrrrrr. I wanna be there (snicker snort) ahem
I wasn't trying to be mean and give him a guilt trip because I knew we would not be going since it wasn't budgeted for and we are doing the DVC member cruise next year with all of you lovely people
A couple of days later while at work I realized that I was off on New Year's Eve so I called DH up at work who was totally slammed with projects (and not thinking clearly)
and asked if he was off. He said he was only working a half day. Before that sentence is even all the way out I hear myself saying, Hey I'm off too, wanna go to Disney World? For once he answered with his heart and not his head and said Yeah but how, and where would we stay and...Don't worry about that I'll figure it out, love you, bye, click. OMG we get to go while the decorations are up
I get on the horn with Disney reservations, crossing my fingers and toes, hoping for pixie dust
that there is any availability since we are maxed out on DVC points this year. To both my shock and the CM's, there is at ASM
But it's $145 a night...for a VALUE
Ok, so I book that. Now to see if there are any ADR's available. I'm thinking I'm going to get stuck at 9 Dragons or Marakesh (not my favorites and seem to always be available)
Once again more
and I snagged a sweetheart NYE dinner for 2 at Jiko and a Sweetheart New Year's day which is also my
dinner for two at Flying Fish
and last but not least ADR on the 2nd at Kouzzina the new restaurant at Boardwalk that took the place of Spoodles.
DH gets home later and I share all the good news
And then...I know it's coming... this could make or break whether or not we actually go, he asks
how much? I tell him
and he responds with
This isn't good, AND then he gives me the look
he gets right before he's about to tell me something that would disappoint me. Oh no, I'm beginning to feel
He explains that I asked right when he was in the middle of stuff and couldn't think it through...duh that was point, kidding, I know I ambushed him
He was not expecting the value to be that much cuz he wasn't thinking about the whole peak season and we would not get FL resident discounts etc. we'd still have to buy tix for NYE, and one for him New Year's day (I'd get in free since it's my B-day) since our annual passes are the seasonal ones and NYE is a blockout date and that the sweetheart dinners are much more than we usually spend on dining for 2. Oh well it looks like were not going. Dejected, I asked if he wanted me to cancel everything but he said no, he'd think about it.
Well the next morning
I went to mousesavers and called WDW to see if I could apply a passholder discount code since they were listed for stays after January 1st and later. They said I couldn't becasue my check in date was NYE. So, I asked them if they would split the reservation and note that they are linked. They did and we got 40% off for the 2 nights after NYE
I told DH and he was happy and said we could go
So, that's my exciting story for the week
Any advice on where to wait for the NYE countdown in case MK is filled to capacity and we can't get in? Do they do anything outside of the parks or at the Boardwalk for NYE???
