Glad to hear Bon Jovi Rocked! Sounds like you had a good time.

We like to go take the boat to DTD from SSR. It is a nice little ride. And yes, the walking around SSR is so peaceful. We have walked from the Grandstand area to DTD and it is quite a trek but it is a nice walk. That is as long as it isn't really, really hot out! :rotfl2: Then it gets to be a little much. And the pools, like I have said before we really enjoy the Grandstand area. They have a nice kids water play area with shooting water horses, and sprayer thingy's, a nice pool, a wonderful hot tub and a bar/snack counter that is open during the day (check on the hours of operation cuz I can't remember). Plus it is not to far to walk to Artist Palette and the main pool. It is the first bus stop to get on the bus so you are pretty much guaranteed a seat. Even though you then have to go to the other, what five stops in the resort before you head out to your park, you don't have to stop at any other resort to pick up guests. It is just a SSR bus. Then when you come back to SSR you are the first drop off stop . Which we love. So that is a big thing for us. There have only been a couple of exceptions to this when we came in the back gate and stopped at the Springs first to drop off. :confused3 Don't know why, but like I said, that has only happened like twice since we have been staying there.

We have stayed in the Springs area once and it was a nice area but you had to cross the main street in SSR to get to the main pool and Carriage House. And then we stayed in the Paddock one night and asked if anything was available in the Grandstand area, just because we missed being over there, and lucky for us they were able to move us.

We also like to go have a snack out side of the Turf Club. There is a little area with tables and chairs and you can order drinks and snackies there. We really enjoy doing that.

It is just a very peaceful, relaxing, beautiful resort. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. After all, it is our home away from home! ;)

Glad people are asking questions. I have seen a couple posts about tips. One post said they will have been paid already. Does that mean when we booked the tips were taken care of or do we pay those before we sail? I plan on tipping more because I have heard the service is wonderful and they will deserve it.

Disney day at school is fun. Used questions in my warm-ups and test bonus questions. Did not get decked out just wore t-shirt and sweatshirt. My sports med class tried to test my Disney knowledge. They were trying to get more points for their test I told them it would be a mistake to challenge me and they found out quick they were wrong to question my knowledge lol. I still gave them the points.

Ugh, I can NOT wait!!:cool1:

HI AGAIN, WHEN I WAS ASKING ABOUT THE FEs I MEANT SOMETHING I WAS BRINGING DOWN THAT WAS 8th of an inch high 6 and a half by 8 inches across and non bendable. I was wondering if i angled it into a pocket would it fit, if not would i be able to slide it under door with persons name on it? MARSHA I THINK YOU ASKED ABOUT TIPS AT SSR:rotfl2: Heres one:rotfl2:My DS and I last year walked from SSR to DTD on the path. When we got to the area near the end of SSR we cut thru path that takes you thru a small over grown area. WE SAW A LOOOOOOOOONG SNAKE, so im reccommending when walking to DTD stay on path along water!:rotfl2:

That may be a little too big, but you might be able to ask the gift shop for some bags and put your gift in the bag and then Hang the bag on the fish. Just something I was thinking of doing for my gifts if they got too big.

thanks for the suggestion of the bags maybe i will bring bags to put something like that that might be too big. Im trying to decide between a few ideas.

Hello All! I came home last night and went straight to bed after dinner. I did not even bother getting on the computer. I am gald to see that people are asking and answering questions. I have updated the first post of this thread with the dates people can call in to make reservations at Palo, book appointments at the spa, etc. Platinum Castaway Club members will be able to call in less than 25 days now. The trip will be here before you know it.

Oh ok. Debbie is right. If it is to big have a gift bag with you and hang it on the door. Some people did this on my last cruise. I put my FE gifts in gift bags and hung some on the door because some people's FEs were full. Also, you do not have to put your name on the FE gift if you do not want to. I put my name on a postcard that I gave out and stuck inside the bag with the gifts.

You do not have to tell me twice to stick to the path. I do not want to encounter snakes. :scared1:

Well my first pointer is easy for you - since you drive!!! We will ALWAYS have a rental car when at SSR because of the size of the resort and the internal bus stops - it as crazy before THV-can't imagine now!!!

We stayed in the Paddock area and loved it because of the quiet pool - that is now gone!! But again with a car - no area is bad!!

Artist's Palette has really great flatbreads and the homemade chips were great too!!!

Thank you for the tips.

Oh Ian - I am adding just don't walk to DTD - unless you are in the section closest to there. We decided it would be a nice stroll from The Paddock area - OK maybe without two kids and if I was in any kind of shape at all!!!:lmao::lmao:
Do you know which area is closer to DTD?

We really did enjoy walking around SSR it is a beautiful resort. Funny how some walking makes me nuts and some doesn't!!!:)
Congrats on earning 2 :bride:

Bon Jovi rocked!! I had a great time and I'm going on about two hours sleep in the last two days!!!

About SSR...we stayed in the Grandstand section and it was nice and quiet. We took a walk to DTD and enjoyed the scenery along the way. The hot tubs were open 24/7 at SSR....I'm not sure if they're all open 24/7 at all the DVC resorts, but I don't remember them being at OKW.

Hey...I just noticed we're on our 100th page!!!

Congrats on earning 2 pirate:

MORNING ALL!!!! MARSHA THE BUILDING CLOSEST TO DTD IS CONGRESS PARK GROUP OF BUILDINGS. I THINK IT IS THE LOWER NUMBERED ROOMS AT THAT END. THE LAST BUS STOP IS INFRONT OF 2nd LAST BUILDING JUST AS YOU GO OUT THE BACK EXIT. THE FEW TIMES WE HAVE STAYED THERE WE ALWAYS ASKED FOR CONGRESS PARK, CLOSE TO DTD AND WE LIKE THE POOL OVERLOOKING DTD.

Good Saturday Morning! Sun is shining and it looks to be a beautiful start to the day. However storms are predicted for this afternoon. Hope they aren't to bad.

Gotta run to Sam's Club today and get hair cuts. Then we have a party to go to tonight. Nothing to big here for the weekend.

Hope everyone has a great day! :flower3:

Had a great day. Took DS out to spend a Day with Thomas at the B & O Railroad Museum. Now, I am going to bed. Good night.

Hi everybody! I hope all is well. I have had a crazy week and a half. I had one of my 6 year old grandkids (4 legged) come back to me, her name is Mona Lisa. This is the first time I have ever had a dog come back to me. She was placed with a wonderful family at 8 weeks old, mom, dad and daughter. Turns out dad left mom 3 years ago and mom is struggling to make ends meet, working 6 days a week and has no time for the dog and feels horribly guilty. Apparently she tried to re-home her last year :scared1: I nearly had a heart attack when I heard that. I reminded her that in her 6 page contract with me that we went over in great detail during the interview process it clearly states that if for any reason whatsoever they can not keep their puppy regardless of how old she is, she comes back home to me no questions asked. After all, I am her grandma and responsible for all of my grand puppies until the day they leave this earth. I tell her to bring her to me asap. When she brought her over two Thursdays ago it was clear that the owner was very upset, depressed and feeling bad about the whole thing and of course Mona is picking up on that and very worried about what is going to happen. It was heartbreaking to watch her pawing at her owner and pleading with her eyes, all but but screaming, Mommy please don't leave me! :sad1: It took everything I had not to break into tears :guilty: Poor Mona spent the next two days at my baby gate that separates the living and family rooms staring at the front door waiting for her mom to come back :sad2: I felt so bad for Mona. Now, I was thinking that the timing for all of this couldn't be worse because I had to leave to Baltimore on Sunday for a work conference and wouldn't be back until the following Thursday. DH is not as dog savvy as I am but fortunately Mona was a really good girl and even started playing with my crew that week. Apparently I was wrong about the timing of all this. No sooner do I get to my conference in Baltimore and one of my co-workers that lives in Tampa comes running up to me asking if I had any show dogs I was retiring or young adults that didn't work out as show dogs. They just lost their dog to cancer and his wife specifically told him to find me and see about getting a dog  So I told him all about Mona and interviewed him to make sure his family would be a good fit for her and that she would lead the type of life I expect my grandpuppies to have. Passed their interview with flying colors! He was all ready to come get her down here but I insisted on bringing her to them. I figured the transition would be easier and I was headed and hour south of him to work with a couple of my others anyhow. So, I get back Thursday night, go to work Friday and after work pack up Mona Lisa and 2 of my other show pups and drive 4 hours to Tampa. I told Mona she was going to her new family and that they were very excited to meet her. Yes, I talk to the dogs :rolleyes1 Mona Lisa walked into her new home like she owned the place and investigated all of the rooms, wiggled and wagged from head to toe, woo woo woo-ing for her new family and let them know how happy she was to be joining them :yay: I could not have been more pleased :thumbsup2 I drove down to Bradenton, spent the night at my male BFF's house, he ahem, plays for the other team :rolleyes1 so DH doesn't have any worries about motives and what not :lmao: and is an ex professional show dog handler. We groomed and worked the dogs Saturday. Actually it was more like I spent the day getting yelled at by a drill sergeant who is never pleased. He has oodles of talent and no patience and while I have a natural gift for grooming, which pleases him, I don't for handling :confused3 It was not fun...productive...but not fun  I drove back home last night feeling somewhat physically and emotionally drained. Today I have to go get B-day presents for my grandmother and dad whose birthdays are yesterday and tomorrow so dad is doing a family dinner today and also have uncle from California visiting  our personalities clash, so today oughta be fun :upsidedow Whew, I'm glad I got all that out of my system thanks for listening or pretending to :rotfl2: Everyone have a great Sunday!!!!

Calypso-I listened to you. So happy for Mona and you. Just think of how happy Mona and her new owners are when you see your uncle. Better yet count to ten , exhale then smile. You know one of those smiles that says "I'm going on the Disney Member Cruise & your not" Nah Nah Nah Nah

Wow! Sounds like you have had a crazy week and a half. That poor family of Mona Lisa. How heartbreaking to be giving up one of your family. :sad1: But lucky for Mona you were able to place her with a new loving family. I know I love my golden retriever, Tessa. She is a great dog. And I would hate to think of losing her.

Hope your dinner goes well today. And isn't too stressful for you. And any time you need to get something out of your system, we are here. Let it out.

Take care and have a good day. :flower3:
