does anyone know if you have to put a credit card on file or can you just make a cash account when you get onboard like on other cruise lines?

I'm almost positive you have to put a credit card on file. At least last time we cruised, we had to. We had cash that we wanted to pay, but they still made us put a credit card on file in case we exceeded our cash deposit.

Hi we were on the New Year cruise this year with our family and some of the family didn't want to use a credit card. They just put cash on the room at guest services and if they exceeded that amount they would need to go refill that.
I hope that is still how it is done.

I have a question, do we get an onboard credit with this cruise? I am thinking no but thought I would ask.:cutie:

While we were on the 2009 member cruise, we purchased additional points. Our purchase qualified us to receive limited edition artwork entitled "The Lost Soup-Eating Sequence". The artist, Don "Ducky" Williams was one of the presenters on the cruise.

From the back of the artwork:
"The "lost" image comes from a deleted sequence highlighting the dwarfs' individual personalities through a song titled "The Music in Your Soup." Walt Disney made the dfficult decision to eliminate the sequence from the finished film, believing it impeded the flow of the story."

This was delivered the end of March.

Marsha - hope you don't care that I posted this over on last year's cruise thread. Dianne was asking to see what the picture looked like and I haven't taken any of mine. So, again, hope you don't mind. :rolleyes1

This will be our third member cruise and we have never gotten an onboard credit. Just remember that all tips are already paid for though and we don't have to do tips. Unless you want to give more. So, I guess, that is kinda like an onboard credit. ;)

Thanks Chris, I figured we wouldn't get a ob credit, just thought I'd ask. The tips already paid are defiantly a big plus, I had actually forgotten about that. We will still take extra money for tips because of the great service.:thumbsup2

I am so happy, we got our flights the other day and our rooms. We will stay at SSR before the cruise and OKW after the cruise! Since we are new owners at BLT we have only stayed there, this will be our mini adventure. :yay:

Thanks everyone for all the tips keep em coming please.

Hi all!!! Thanks for the anniversary wishes. I left work early and DH and I went....to the casino:)!!! We were going to do a movie and dinner but decided we would spend more quality time together gambling!!!:lmao: Oh did we...I am now a fan of roulette(?) and since I had to get in some slots - dinner was drive thru - McDs:lmao::lmao::lmao:!!! We did have a great evening though!!!

I am so glad people are asking questions - these are things I don't even know to ask since we have never been on any kind of cruise!!

Since we will be flying in on the morning of the 12th - where do we sign up for transportation to the port? Can we do that now? Or wait until the 29th? Our flight is booked but I guess I thought we had to wait to do everything on the 29th!!

Do the kids programs fill up quickly? Should I be up at midnight? We have no set times - we had not planned on doing Palo - since it is our first cruise we just want to see what is there first. But I would like the kids to have some time there.

Not a problem.

Glad you had a great evening.

I don't think the kid programs fill up quickly since there are less kids on this cruise. When I took DS to the nursery there were only 2 other kids there. We also visited one of the clubs and there were not too many kids in there.

Like Ian said call member services to arrange ground transportation.

The FE should fit on the fish as long as it is less than 9 inches wide.

You are very welcome. And you are going to love SSR!!!! That is our first home resort and we just feel kinda lost when we don't stay there. I know that sounds weird, but that is the way we feel. We especially love to stay in the Grandstand area. We bought into BLT on last year's members cruise and will be staying there for the first time after this year's cruise and are so excited. We have stayed at OKW too, but SSR remains true to my heart. :)

You can book your transportation at any time. We have done both a town car service and taken the Disney transportation. The last time we did a town car though was a very bad experience so we have opted for the Disney transportation. That is probably what we will book this time to get from the port back to BLT. We will have a rental car before the cruise.

As far as the kids programs, I agree that there are not as many kids on this cruise as compared to others, so you should have no problem getting your kids in. Our girls are older and will be in the teen club and I don't think we have to preregister them for that.

Well my first pointer is easy for you - since you drive!!! We will ALWAYS have a rental car when at SSR because of the size of the resort and the internal bus stops - it as crazy before THV-can't imagine now!!!

We stayed in the Paddock area and loved it because of the quiet pool - that is now gone!! But again with a car - no area is bad!!

Artist's Palette has really great flatbreads and the homemade chips were great too!!!

HI AGAIN, WHEN I WAS ASKING ABOUT THE FEs I MEANT SOMETHING I WAS BRINGING DOWN THAT WAS 8th of an inch high 6 and a half by 8 inches across and non bendable. I was wondering if i angled it into a pocket would it fit, if not would i be able to slide it under door with persons name on it? MARSHA I THINK YOU ASKED ABOUT TIPS AT SSR:rotfl2: Heres one:rotfl2:My DS and I last year walked from SSR to DTD on the path. When we got to the area near the end of SSR we cut thru path that takes you thru a small over grown area. WE SAW A LOOOOOOOOONG SNAKE, so im reccommending when walking to DTD stay on path along water!:rotfl2:

Oh Ian - I am adding just don't walk to DTD - unless you are in the section closest to there. We decided it would be a nice stroll from The Paddock area - OK maybe without two kids and if I was in any kind of shape at all!!!:lmao::lmao:

We really did enjoy walking around SSR it is a beautiful resort. Funny how some walking makes me nuts and some doesn't!!!:)

Bon Jovi rocked!! I had a great time and I'm going on about two hours sleep in the last two days!!!

About SSR...we stayed in the Grandstand section and it was nice and quiet. We took a walk to DTD and enjoyed the scenery along the way. The hot tubs were open 24/7 at SSR....I'm not sure if they're all open 24/7 at all the DVC resorts, but I don't remember them being at OKW.

Hey...I just noticed we're on our 100th page!!!
