09/08/07 Early Check in September 8, 2007 Western

Good Morning everyone, hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! Josh ended up going as Mickey Mouse, it was too hot for him to put the pirate outfit on over the costume. He was a little Sweat ball after the first couple of houses.

I think the adults had more fun than the kids, we kind of turned it into a big block party.

Had a safe and boring Halloween. Came home from work and lived in a dark house. We don't have many small kids in our community and the ones who do come by are far too old and demanding. They take the fun out of it. This year I really don't even know what my grandkids dressed up as. Oh well. I am glad you all had a good time with the holiday. Mouser

Wanted to pop in and say 'Morning'...looks like everyone is a little busy. Hope everyone has a safe Sat.

Type at ya'll later.... :thumbsup2

I spent my Saturday in front of the computer writing plans :badpc: for work for almost 6 hours. It is a day the office is closed and I can get more work done than on a normal business day. Good to be home and thinking about VACATION yet again :hourglass . Mouser

I got a new laptop so an trying to get used to it. The feel of the keys is different and they seem to be in different places, even though I KNOW they are not.

I am making good progress on typing Mother’s poetry, illustrating it with clip art and photos and printing out ten copies of each. The printed pages go in plastic page protectors and in binders in alphabetical order. There will be a copy for Mother, one for each of us kids and one for each of the grandkids (all this because she has asked me several times why no one published her poetry.)
I plan to take them all when I go see her before Thanksgiving so she can sign the cover page of each. If she is up to it I will have her put the name of the recipient, otherwise, just her signature. Then we will use the gift-wrap I am taking, wrap them, put on tags and she has her Christmas gifts done. This may be the last Christmas she can understand. And it will be a gift from her heart as she has wanted to do this for YEARS~! I just recently realized that the Alzheimer’s took away her ability to complete the project, but not the desire to have it done. So—I am doing it.

I will drive to Upstate NY on the 20th. Visit her at the Alzheimer's Unit where she lives now on Tuesday and Wednesday morning then drive to Bethlehem, PA. If I get there in time I will visit one of my little old ladies who now lives in a nursing home. I will go to church with our kids, stay at a hotel and Thursday morning I will go to the airport to get Tom. That gives him 3 more days in the office. We will eat Thanksgiving dinner with our boys and Sarah and meet her parents, sister, brother-in-law and nephew. The wedding of our older son and Sarah will be May 19 so this is the OFFICIAL MEET THE OTHER PARENTS EVENT.
I am not sure how long we will stay but we will drive back together. I told my clients that everyone gets Thanksgiving week off and everyone is OK with that.

I am also hoping to get done paging through some magazines and take them to the nursing home for Mother and the others to share.

Not much else except my perpetual desire for more hours in the day,

Incredible story, I hope the gifts turn out like you like...I bet there will be ALOT of tears come Christmas day.

Good luck meeting the future "inlaws", we call them "outlaws" in our family :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Have safe travel this week...

Kevin and I are going to be proud parents (again)!
Yep, it's true, we are the proud parents of Domenico Dolce, a little tiny teacup chihuahua. He is blue/grey and ADORABLE! I will post pictures of him as soon as we pick him up. He will be our official "Truck Dog". I am SOOOOO excited. His breeder says he should only weigh 3-3.5 lbs fully grown. We will call him "Dolce" for short. I can't wait to dress him up in all the little puppy clothes! And paint his little toenails! I guess he's gonna be a little flamboyant :lmao:

I hope everyone is having a better day than us, we have been sitting at a shipper for 15 hours waiting for a trailer to be loaded to get us home. I am not sure what the problem is but I am getting VERY irritated at this point. I have out of town house guests coming in on Thursday and I haven't been home since the 1st of October. My house is a disaster area (maid is MIA) and I have to get everything done before Thrsday afternoon (they are driving in from DC). Can we say stress?????? I need a vacation.............again................right now.......................

Outlaws! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: What's the word for people in your immediate family that drive ya nuts???? My inlaws are actually alright, it's MY family that tends to drive me bonkers!

Keith, Are you going to watch the Massacre at Bryant-Denney this weekend? I can't even watch, it's just too painful. Roll Dang Tide anyway though! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Jan, Kevin's Grandmother compiled a book of poetry she had written before she passed away last year. All I can say is PRICELESS. We cherish it, I hope your family will too! :cheer2:

Sometime it's the family that drive you nuts. I have two adult children. I will always love them and attempt to be there for them but I can say I don't always like them or the decisions that they make as adults. At some point you have to let go.

It has been hardest with my son, who is now 30, because he is having money issues and is now living at home. Got himself in a real mess but really doesn't see how it was his decisions that got him where he is. What's a mom to do. I am forcing him to pay rent cause if I let him live here free of charge he wouldn't learn anything. But it cheap rent to allow him to have some extra money to pay off the debts. I just don't know if he is doing that. I guess when it's time for him to move (at some point he'll become upset with me and leave) we'll know; if he has a place to live on his own staying at home helped, if he moves in with another friend, it didn't. Congrats "PARENTS".....but a Mexican Mouse Hound? They have to be the most yappest dogs every breed :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I hope you don't need much sleep :goodvibes :goodvibes

15 hours? I would have gone postal after 6!

How can your house be dirty? You have not been there in 6 weeks...I don't know if you are like Tina, but before we leave for even a 3 day weekend, she cleans from top to bottom. She likes to come home to a clean house. I know it's a woman thing! Our house stays clean, but if it's not Tina clean, it's a pig stye! :confused3 :confused3 Are ya'll planning a trip to B'ham this weekend with your guest? If ya'll are going out to dinner, give us a call and we may crash your get together, if you don't mind.

And yes, I will watch the IRON BOWL....I will be painting the down stairs while the game is on though. That reminds me, are ya'll going to be home on Dec. 10th? We are having our Christmas party that night and would love for ya'll to come up. It is on a Sunday night, that way all of our employees can come has well. I have a HONEY DO list a mile long, I think Tina plans these things so I will get some things done around the house. :sad2: :sad2:

I learned some Yiddish from my freshman roommate in college and she said there is a word for your kid's in-laws--they are your MUSHBUCKAH. (I am not sure how one would spell it but that is as phoenetic as I know how. Appologies to anyone who knows the right way--please correct me!~!)
So--we are off to meet our Mushbuckah. If they are anything like their daughter, they are going to be great friends.

Poetry books are done.
I told my sister she could have all the old pictures I went through for this project and a collection of family pictures that I scanned to be a replaceable album for Mother. My sister asked if I would put them in an album as she does not have time. :rotfl2: as if I do???? :rolleyes1

Got the idea to lay them out, upside down and piece them together to the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. Tape them together on the back, write on those with no labeling and slide the page into a plastic page protector. All the writing is visible through the plastic. I did not have to re-write everything on the album margins. It was a LOT FASTER than I anticipated. I divided the pictures up between my brother and sister. I have the ones I want in the computer files.

And--THERE HAD BETTER BE SOME CRYING ON CHRISTMAS!! Even if Mother is not at my sister's as she has been for 30 years, they BETTER remember her good days and creativity and those poetry books better REMIND them!!!

Flamboyant--I guess so!
What does "Domenico" mean?
Where will Dolco hang out when you are not in the truck? Does he get to go in the house?
Do you have a sleeper cab truck?
