09/05/09 LABORless MAGICal Meanderers

We are so excited about the cruise. It's our 30th wedding anniversary, cruising for another future 30. Yeha!!:cheer2:

Congratulations on lasting 30 years...:scared1: we are only 10 down and we are not sure how we made it this long.:rotfl2:

CVS didn't have it in the store, but they could order it and have it to you in a few days. Unfortunately, they only offered a large amount so it was kind of expensive. I got our online and it arrived in about 5 days.

Where did you order online?

welcome mikekwik!!! :dance3:

for the science talk, I have a bs in chemistry, from 13 yrs ago and completely out of the field for the last 9, so basically now all i can do is bs about it,

Bonine, i gave my DD9 the adult dose in july (honestly without even thinking about it, she's about 80 lbs...) and she's still kicking;) I don't recall there being much of a diff in the dosing, of course, not for a smaller child...ok, now they are reminding me she took 1 while the adult dose is 2...ok, i am not od'ing her, promise...:scared1: the bonine (generic) is free in the med clinic (right outside of the clinic in a 'take as you need' bin) I will buy a box, but if you forget or run out, don't worry:hug:

on the anniversary....again, those that don't know, DH will celebrate our 18th on the 7th, I will be with mom in Palo and DH will be watching football somewhere...:woohoo: We HAVE finally figured it out. Love him, but also looking forward to a vacation;) He is not 'in' to 7 nts away on a boat, but mom is:hug: He is not 'in' to DCL Mediterranean, I am totally going to do this with mom and my girls someday:yay:

Bracelets..the pics I posted were of them 'colored' in. The plain ones are hard to read with my camera not being so great...they are still so cute:angel:

Great to know! DD is definitely over 80 pounds. Did it make your DD sleepy at all? My DD has taken the kid's dose several times and it never made her sleepy. My DH, older DD, and I have taken the adult dose and we have always been fine. I don't want younger DD to get sleepy with the adult dose. However, she is so close to the age requirement and definitely ok in comparison with older DD in weight so I thought we might be fine doing it.
Your post makes me feel much better! :thumbsup2 Thanks!

I think it was drugstore.com. I googled children's bonine and the store came up.

Thanks.
I will talk to DH and see what he thinks......if we should order or try the adult dose.
If I call a local pharmacist to ask, do you think they could tell me? I guess I should call her pediatrician on Monday. I just don't want the office to say that I have to bring her in to discuss it. I just hope they will tell me over the phone what they recommend. I do not want to get the prescription patch for her.

Preston is only 66 pounds, so we did not have a choice. I am giving Wilson Benadryl. I read many reviews and people said that for her age the Benadryl works the best.

Oh yes, I understand that. When we have been other times, when DD was younger, we had no choice either. I also brought along ginger snaps and ginger ale those times. DD got sea sick on the last night of her first cruise (crossing back over the Gulf stream). Poor thing. I felt so sorry for her. She has not gotten sick on any of the others since that time.

we are making special magnets for the 9-9-09'ers;)

Fantastic Angel :littleangel:

The 9-9-09'ers name was LiseG's "magic"al idea. :cheer2:

I think that the kids will love it. :lovestruc

Shannah and I have been trying to think of something special to make also.
So far we have come up blank. :confused3

How many 9 year olds are there? :cloud9:

I have come up with:
Brooke - 9
Preston - 9 (turning 10 on Sept. 11) Only boy! Will he want to join the "younger" girls??
Shannah - 9 (her birthday is Feb. 13)
Meghan - 8 (turning 9 on Oct. 2)
Sabrina - 8 (turning 9 on Sept 21)

Am I missing anyone? :cloud9:

I just realized that we will be cruising on 9-9-09!! :dance3:

:tink: Marlene

ok marlene, 9-9-09, that's the whole excitement:goodvibes and they (most of them ) are 9, and there are 9 of them...anyway, look at liseg's post, don't recall, 1 of them hasn't posted a name yet.

bonine:
I copied this from drugstore.com
Adult bonine: Active Ingredients: Meclizine HCl (25mg) 12 and older, take 1 or 2.

Child's Bonine: Active Ingredients: Cyclizine HCl (25 mg) (Antiemetic)

6 and older, take 1.
So, they are not the same, but DD9 did fine on the adult pill (1 tablet) and did not get drowsy, she took 1 for 3 days in a row.

We decided on the late booking, because we're TA's and got a special deal...we just did a 4-day on the Wonder in July....love those Disney Cruises.

Mikekwik

did i miss something? this is not the same deal as from July is it? ooooooohhhhh, please tell me no...:littleangel: this trip was paid for long before i was ta....anyway, congrats on the late joining:yay:

I will check Walmart later this weekend to see if they have the Bonine for Kids. If not, I will call the pediatrician's office to get her opinion on Monday. If the pediatrician says no for the adult dose, I will order the Bonine for Kids online.
Thanks so much for your help everyone! I never had trouble finding the kids dose before this trip. I have always been able to run to CVS just down the street and buy it.

New update on birthdays :cheer2:

As of right now we have 8 (including us) families who have said they will join in on the surprise. If anyone else wants in just let me know it is never too late.

Michael

I just got off the phone with DCL. The CM was a bit short but gave me the movie list with the standard "This is subject to change" several times

Bolt
Confessions of a shopaholic
Race to witch mountain
Hannah Montana
Earth
The proposal
G Force

several of these movies are being shown in 3D but i missed writting down witch ones.

Hope this helps some of you

Hi everyone! I am new to this cruise, but not to the boards!! I will be joining you with my good friends NYCDVClover2000!!

I just wanted to let you all know that when we did this cruise in 2004, my kids were 7 and 10. We all used the Adult Bonine except the kids took 1/2 of 1 pill as their dose. I don't think they even made a kids bonine then!! LOL!!

Anyway, can't wait for this cruise!!

P.S. It will be our 20th anniversary on 9-9-09!!
