Good morning! Catching up since yesterday afternoon:

I wish I could get over my fear of air travel so I could do quick trips like your trip.:sad2:
Consider train travel! It's not as fast as air, but it's a great way to travel. I don't mind flying, but I love taking the train!

Oh, how traumatic to see that one live. I remember seeing it on the news. I remember 9/11 as well, that one is burned into my brain. I know exactly where I was and what I was doing when I found out about the first plane.
I will never forget that day for two reasons:
  • I live within visual distance of New York City. You could see the whole thing from the Boardwalk here in town. Long Branch is a very quick trip from New York and many of the injured were brought here to Monmouth Medical Center. I worked with the police department that day, helping out in their office so that their staff could tend to other matters.
  • My DS, and DDIL had planned to take DGD to New York for the day. DDIL had never been to the World Trade Center. They were taking the train, and had planned to arrive at around 9 AM. I didn't hear from them until after 11 AM. They had overslept, missed the train, decided not to go and didn't know what happened until they turned on the TV.
Hello everyone! Just found out about this site and have found it to be a big help. :thumbsup2

Our family is so excited about the trip. Will be wifey, 12yr princess: , 2 4 yr pirate: pirate: , and myself. This will be our 4th disney cruise but first in the last 4years.:woohoo: Hope all will go well.

Is there any big changes we should know about? I tried reading through the navigators and it looks as if its about the same with some minor differences.

Thanx, (not spanx)

Bob
Welcome aboard! You're certainly joining a fun cruise! This will be our seventh cruise, and our seventh on DCL, although it is our first seven night cruise. The others have all been four nights. Can't wait to meet you on board!

-----------------
OK, I'm caught up! Now to start doing all of the fun stuff like laundry so that I can pack, finishing up my lime green shirts, and a few other "little details" since we're leaving at 9 AM tomorrow. No time to relax, I'm on vacation!

Beth

Mary, hope your dd feels better soon. We have been lucky with ear infections, but I know they are just awful, even for grown ups...I hate to hear of a little one suffering with one. :(

I've been working on my skirt tonight in an effort to get it "done enough" to know if it was going to work before I put all the finishing work into it.

So, ... uhmmm... yeah... I'll be going shopping this weekend. :upsidedow

:rotfl:

This is may be my son's last Santa year. The oldest is turning 9 and the younger is 5. I've planned 7 nights of Christmas with Santa visiting each night while they sleep with little presents through next Thursday night. We leave next Friday for Orlando. Then on the ship I'm going to have presents each night on their pillow from Mickey.

Hmm. We are closing in on that I think...ds is asking ME for stuff, and when I mention Santa, it's like, "oh, yeah, Santa..." Sigh. I LOVE doing Santa stuff. If he tells his little sister I'll kill him!

Welcome Bob and family! Yes, more twin boys, what a coincidence! My dd is 4, and waaaay excited!

And I see you did some back-reading. :rotfl:

I had flown to St. Louis on Sept 10. Americans have short memories, but that is a day I will never forget. I could not get home until Sunday. That was the day I got my priorities straight! Dennis and I have not traveled without each other further than we can drive since then. I learned that day that if we are together anything is ok, if we are separated in a time of crisis it is NOT ok. My chest still gets tight when I think about it. It was very, very lonely in St Louis.

:grouphug:

Dennis still has the Timex Sinclair he had back in the late 1970's (you hooked it to the TV and ran it with a tape recorder!). We just threw out all the others he has had since then. We still have 2 plus 3 laptops. :sad2:
!

Ok, that I've never heard of. My dad bought us "Pong" the Christmas it came out, I remember using that on the tv! He was such an "early adopter" my gadget-guy dad. I'm sorry he didn't live long enough to see the way computers have changed our world. I also remember doing my stats course with punch cards on the huge mainframe...:scared: AND I remember the first time I got an email from someone in Europe, now that was amazing. I also hung out in the "rec.travel" usenet group back in the early 90's...all character-based, only available at work at the college (during my "breaks"!).

Got my documents the other day. But more importantly I got my Spanx today!!

:lmao:

I keep doing that "in one week we will be..." thing. :cool1:

Oh, it's Thursday, I can go look at the Wonder in port... :yay:

Does anyone have a count on how many people are doing postcards? I still have to buy mine.

Does anyone know where at the World, we should be if we hope to watch the launch next Thursday?

We saw it once on Main Street near the Barber Shoppe. We had to look between the buildings. But we did see it. We also saw a night landing one year from our balcony in Daytona Beach.

I know what you mean. The vision of the firemen covered with dust on 9/11 is forever in my brain.

This is the 10-22mm with a shot of the camera on the floor at the back wall of the house, shooting the front door. The house is 28' wide here.

Welcome, this is a fun group.

Jason I know nothing about cameras but I know a few things about housekeeping (best observed in the breach in my house :rolleyes1 ) and I hearby announce that I hate you (and/or your dw)! That floor is waaaay too clean and the rooms waaaay too tidy for anyone with children. That is setting the bar far too high, my friend! Whoa.

Um, nice picture! ;)

Welcome! :cheer2: I don't think there are any big changes - I'm sure you'll have a great time!

HAhahaha! I fooled you. I had to push mounds of stuff out of the way to get that... Just kidding, but there are still some messy rooms in our house (Our Bedroom is the worst). Our office is pretty bad too.

I am so happy for you! I love snow and we had none last year. Good years we get an inch or two. Better than none. Everything shuts down because no one can drive in snow in GA. Well I am sure people who have moved here can but most locals just can't drive. Three flakes fall and everyone runs off the roads.
Exactly the same here. Usual year would be snow once or twice that stays on the ground for a couple of days sending ALL the cars into the ditch! :sad2: I actully just stay home and enjoy it now since I have lots of leave built up. Luckily there was no snow in the Portland Metro area last night going home. I did not see it until I got 20 miles out of the city and traffic was sparse. :thumbsup2 It all melted off by 10 when I went to bed last night and all is clear this morning. Darn!! I was hoping to have an extra day to pack. :rolleyes1

It is amazing the number of stories we heard about people that were supposed to be there or on the planes and did not make if for some really silly reason like oversleeping. I'm not sure if I believe that is fate or some guardian angels.

Yep, DrHug has been a gadget guy ever since I met him. He was on Prodigy in the late 80's early 90's talking with folks around the world. :surfweb: He had an uncle just like him. His aunt once showed me a closet and said she had put her foot down that when the closet was full NO MORE gadgets!! I :rotfl2: because I so understood!
Does anyone have a count on how many people are doing postcards? I still have to buy mine.
I will be bringing Oregon ones. My family is bringing Washington State ones I believe.

I SO agree with this!! What's with those shiny floors and FOUR boys?? :upsidedow How many live in cleaning women do you have??

Stacy, are you all right? Did you get rid of your migraine? Maybe you are just working a lot of hours. It is not like you not to be "not chasing the pirate". Feel better.:flower3:

So what is everyone reading on the cruise?

I picked up the latest James Patterson book in the Alex Cross series, "Double Cross".

DH is reading "Born Standing Up" - Steve Martin, and "Total Money Makeover" - Dave Ramsey

I just got Home to Holly Springs by Jan Karon - it's killing me not to start reading it! I LOVED her Mitford series and this is the first in a new series featuring Father Tim, the main character from Mitford.

I am reading.....a Buffett, a Kellerman, an Evanovich, a Deaver and maybe one more.

Well lil DD:angel: is doing 100% better. :thumbsup2 She's eating alittle and sleeping alittle - woke 4/5 times last night but I was so loopy DH did the night shift. Of course I called in my mom today to help watch her while I did things around my house:laundy: . Just extra hands helps so much. I'm still loopy but hopefully I'll catch up on sleep tonight. Gotta start packing some stuff by this weekend or I'll really be crazy next week. And I'm sure I'll be in a much calmer mindframe after Saturday. It's my birthday and sis is treating me (along with a few girls - her office staff) to a day at the local spa.:woohoo:
