I would love for the sales to be here at Midnight, I'm wide awake

This was the first time that I ever saw a store open at midnight. Since I'm such a night owl I thought that was a great idea. Guess a lot of other people thought the same thing. Anyway, DH just called from work and said it was a good thing I just came home because fights broke out. What is wrong with people? I really hate shopping to begin with. It is way worse this time of year.

Good morning! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! The final count here was only 39. One DD was sick and 2 others did not make it. We were sad DD could not come, but glad she did not share her very sore throat, lost voice with us. We would NOT want to get sick now. We are meeting for breakfast in about a half hour. 25 of us still around this morning. Most will be coming back to our house today for games, talk, leftovers and hugs! I will TRY to catch up tomorrow evening or Sunday. Have a great weekend.

Good afternoon!

We did the Black Friday thing - started out last night at CompUSA. They opened from 9pm - midnight. Oldest DS and I got there at 7:30 and were about 70th in line. Was able to get what I wanted and then dropped same DS at Toys R Us where he spent the night out front of the store with one of his friends. He was basically there to keep his friend company. They made it through the night and friend got what he wanted - DS picked up a camera for some friends and got a voucher for a Wii, so we got it (DH joined him at 5am to pay) because my sister-in-law is looking for one and they are hard to come by.

Meanwhile, I got up at 3:30 to hit Kohls at 4. Stood in line at Target for their opening - I've never shopped at Target or Wally World first thing on Black Friday - the people in line were pretty intense. After a few more stops, I came home. Boys were asleep, DH was ready to shop, so we went out again for a couple hours. I was so tired, I finally had DH take me home so I could get some sleep.

Now we're getting ready to hit the mall - the boys need some cruise clothes. Hopefully the crowds will have died down some.

The funny thing of all this is how little we actually bought - I'm sure I could've got most everything online and avoided the crowds. For some reason I just can't NOT go out early on Black Friday

I guess it's like the DISboards - I'm addicted

WE SURVIVED BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING!!!!!

DS, as well, did not want Door Buster items so he left around 4:30am to go to Best Buy.. He DID get his Computer Monitor.. but could NOT get a Memory stick he wanted.. But he was still a Happy boy He bought a 19 inch Monitor for $ 99.99... Saved $120 instantly..

He said there was Tents and Garbage everywhere outside.. He was so cute.. he says, Wow Mom, I had No Idea what a Rush it is to shop on Black Friday.. He also said it was definately an experience.. Not sure if it is a Good one or a Bad one though..

I was at Staples at 6 am, when the doors opened.. I had no idea there would be a huge line and Numbers given out there.. DS met me over there since he was on his way home anyway.. We DID get his Hard Drive so he was all excited because to him that was a Great deal.. After Rebates $59.98 for 400GB...

I got the 4 set of Panosonic Cordless Phones with an answering machine, A HP 8 Megapixel digital camera, Headset for my Cell phone and SD Memory Card 2 GB..



I was going to go to Kohl's after staples and let DS go home to bed.. He was on a First Aid call at 2am and his co worker said, well at least it gets us Closer to the Sales.. DS said she was going to Kohl's..

I wanted to get King sized sheets for here and a new comforter bu I decided I was kinda tired myself and went home and took a nap..

DH called at 11am and said he went shopping to.. Went to Lowes, Mc Donalds, Dunkin Donuts, Publix and a few other desserted stores.. He said this Black Friday thing is a piece of cake.. I said Yea, for the stores YOU went to.. and Mc Donalds doesn't count.. He said Mc Donalds was the only place he went where he had to wait on line for more then 5 minutes..

Anywho... I Hope ALL you Black Friday Shoppers were able to get what you wanted too... and Live to tell about it..

I was at Staples at 4:00AM this morning! I wanted the Navigon 2100T GPS. I knew we only had 15 in stock, so I wasn't sure if I would be able to get it. When I first got online, I was about 20'ish..but more ppl get joining the people up front. Thankfully most of them watned the Laptop, so I got the GPS, and the other things I wanted in the store. We had about 29 laptops in stock. I know we had LOTS of hard drives, so I hope you got one.

The crowd was very friendly and really nice. When ppl found out I worked there, they wanted to know why I was standing online! I told them that we aren't allowed to put things aside, so there I was. I did have one of my co-workers bring me a cup of coffee while she picked up the coffee for the store. I also picked her up a digital frame, since they would be gone by the time she took her break.

I was out of Staples by 7 AM, and then went over to Target. I got the DVD's I wanted, but they were out of the few toys. Oh well. Now I am hungry and tired.

Hi all. I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. Me and my DH went to my daughters for thanksgiving. The food was wonderful. My daughter is a great cook. So we went back today for left overs and other friends dropped by. There was plenty of food left over and the friends were offered to eat and took us up on the offer.
We didn't go to black friday sales this year. I just don't like the mad rush to get in the stores and when you get there, there is nothing left what you came for.

Oh my gosh, you guys are dedicated shoppers! I'm pretty serious about deals, but the earliest I'll get my self to a store is 8 am...heading to TRU tomorrow AM to get a Transformers set for ds, and some Petshop thing for dd...got exactly 11 days left til we leave and after that I want any shopping left after that to be OPTIONAL.

...So I'm seeing it's almost 70, where are the pirate hunters? I have stuff to get done and ds wants the computer but I'm hanging around waiting for others...

Angie I hope you have a great time today, it sounds even better than the "big day", more relaxed...hope your dd feels better soon and NO ONE else gets it!!

Ok, here's my big "holiday shopping" beef...the FLYERS!! OMG I have a blue bag every week just of flyers! And I get duplicates. There are two free community weeklies that exist to wrap flyers, and I get the same ones in my daily subscription. So, some flyers (like Sears, Walmart, thick ones) I get THREE times!

I have called one of the weeklies twice now to say "STOP!" And the other one I called this week. But those carriers just automatically deliver to everyone, and it's a hassle for them to leave someone OFF the list I guess. And I have a sneaking suspicion there's another drop off that's not covered by those...I have to keep an eye out.

Plus, we're going to be away for 2+ weeks and a big pile of flyers at the end of the drive kind of gives it away, you know? We still don't know any of our neighbours well enough to ask them to clean it up for us. (Big lots, long driveways...it's a hassle for me to pick up my own, let alone someone else's.)

OTOH, I asked the postoffice to hold my mail starting Dec 3 and my mailbox is already surprisingly...empty. Maybe I don't need to see any more bills before I go but, um, I probably should... Is the USPS as bad at getting things right as Canada Post? I am an experienced bureaucrat, and I hate to slam another gov't group gratuitously, but man, they earn all their bad press...

Anyway, any hunters yet??

Tx!! We had plenty of Tom Tom's at my store, almost 60 of them. I think that is great number for a door buster! We also had plenty of hard drives. I didn't have to count those since there were no tickets, so I don't know how many we had, I just know there was ALOT!!

I have to say that the people on my line, were very nice. They were a calm group. At least as far as I saw.

Ya know, I am gonna have to pass. I will forget or lose it!! I also don't have that many written recipes. I watched my mom cook, and I dont measure, I just pour. Except of course for my baking.

I'm using one of my grandmother's recipes, and it's got a couple of "or so's" in the measurements. That's the way it works! The recipe is for a spice cake,and when I got it from my aunt, it was "bake at 350 for 2 hours". The first time I did it it was AWFUL. Then Mom looked at it and said "Aunt Joan's oven hasn't worked properly in years!" So, I think I bake it for about an hour, but I haven't really edited the written version since I got it.

I have 2 cake recipes that I ahve to adjust the time. My cheesecake needs more than 1 hour, but less then 1 1/2 hours. My Pistachio cake needs more time then what is written down also.

We grabbed some luggage from mil yesterday. We have smaller bags..and she has bigger ones. We want to pack the bigger ones lightly, and put smaller ones in there so we have the room to bring home stuff . I honestly don't think we are going to bring home that much, but DH thinks so. We may get some booze and I want to get some t-shirts for the kids, but I can't imagine us getting anything else.

Mmm...pistachio cake. Sound yummy.

Cheesecake...of course that's yummy! But it's the one food I've really sworn off. I mean, there is NO way to make it light and "right", and once I start, a "reasonable" serving isn't enough. So I just keep my distance.

OK, I am hungry, and dh suggested Wendy's or McD's. Now that sounds good, so I said ok, who is going to get it, he is like you. ***?? I was up at 3:30 this morning to get him his toys...why can't he go out and get the food??
