I know this is off the path of this board but had a quick question. If you buy a 3-day pass for the parks and then want to upgrade to a yearly pass is there a time limit? I thought it was 30 days but a friend was telling me different. I am a little tired of calling disney and going through the voice prompts and thought 1 of y'all could help. :confused3

If you booked a cruise while on board can you transfer that booking over to a travel agent to get a better rate? :confused3

1--have you used them? If they are unused you can upgrade anytime. If you've used them, you have to have at least a day left on them to upgrade IIRC, and if they're the expiring kind you have to do that within the 14 days they are active. (I.e., if you bought a 3 day in March and haven't used it yet, you can upgrade whenever. If you started using that three-day on Dec 14, and you have a day or two left, you'd have to upgrade by Dec. 28--29? I never count "consecutive days" right...)

2--Yes. They even say that in the stuff they hand out. You may lose some of the discount, as it's usually "only one offer applies" but most people manage to keep the OBC and get additional discounts/OBS.

Hope that helps.

..two nights in a row it took 3 attempts to get PLAIN YELLOW MUSTARD. Dijon? NO. Honey mustard? NO. YELLOW. YELL-OW.

It's so funny how the simplest things throw some people for a loop. I think I would've had a hard time not saying sarcastically - "Would you like me to run up to Pluto's and get some myself?" I'm glad you changed serving teams.

I have been thinking about the couple who needed to be recued at Serenity Bay. Did a CM notice they had drifted too far out or was it brought to their attention by a guest? I thought it was funny that they took their tubes away when they got back to land. And took the couple somewhere, I guess to file a report. They did return to the beach later. Hmm, maybe they billed them for towing?

We were sitting right behind where the CM came out the first time to use the megaphone to tell them to come closer. He said something like "Wave if you need help." I didn't see them wave, but zoomed in with the camera and saw they seemed to be paddling furiously with their arms. After a while, it became obvious they were drifting farther out. The same CM came out with a pair of binoculars. It was soon after that that the wave runner went to them.

I'm guessing it was a CM that noticed they were too far out. I would think they watch for that kinda stuff even though there are no lifeguards? :confused3 Frankly, my depth perception is so off, I wouldn't have noticed they were so far past the roped area if it hadn't become such a big deal. Unless it was a family member that went to get a CM about it. But I didn't see anyone greet them on the beach when they returned other than the CM that had been yelling at them at the beginning.

Speaking of people that needed rescuing, we were sitting behind a guy on the bus back to the airport who was telling someone a story of a couple that got off the ship at St Maarten, took all their stuff with them, and planned to fly back to the US. In the story he was telling, it was apparently the rough seas that put them off enough that they refused to get back on the ship.

Did anyone else hear anything like that?

There was a mom and two little kids that had to be rescued from the farthest edge of the family beach. They were out by the net line, and on a tube when they fell off, and the tube blew away under the bar. Two guards had to go get them. They didn't seem very happy.

I was sick Sunday night... (I'm still not convinced it was sea sickness, because I was fine Monday), and if I had been given a choice that night, I would have gotten off and not gotten back on. But looking back now, I'm sure it wouldn't have helped, I would have been just as sick on land.

No but I ran into three separate first time cruisers who I overheard saying "Never again" because of the rough seas.

First I have heard about that one. Interesting, I wonder if it is true.

Wow, that would have been a scary situation. Who was unhappy, the recuers or the recuees?

I think they were alone. I saw them on the beach afterwards and they seemed to be alone. I still have to chuckle when I think of the tubes being taken away. It was like "these are too dangerous for you". Maybe there needs to be a warning on them? "These tubes may float out to sea if not used properly.";)

I didn't take a picture of the soup!! :lmao: I think Merryl did though! :thumbsup2

Yes I did, and I will be posting it hopefully today!!

Sorry, Julie! Merryl--I'm eagerly waiting for the soup picture. Jim says he will post once the soup is posted and he wakes up from his nap, whichever comes first!;)

I said "Never again" at first, too. I'm one of those people who gets motion sickness everywhere, but had never been sick on the ship before. However, I realized that it really didn't affect my enjoyment of the cruise too much, and it gave me quite a story to tell the veteran sailor at work! We will cruise again, but haven't decided exactly when. We want to take a family cruise, but it's hard to plan with DDIL's fertility treatments and the fact that DS has to set his vacation up in March and it's not changeable. So we're hoping for some positive results in the treatment by March so that we can plan to cruise either before it's too late or after the whole thing is over!

BTW, I'm posting this from the new computer. Set up was a breeze, everything went exactly as I had hoped! I still haven't gotten this new computer hooked up to the household network, but I had to take a minute to stop and post here, right?

We were told that about 45 people had gotten off and decided to fly back because of the seas. :sad2:

Thanks ...... though it be strange and trying sometimes; there's no place like home

We booked our next cruise onboard .... 1/3/09 :thumbsup2

We will be getting off the Wonder as you get on ;) We are doing a 4 night wonder New Years Eve / Day 12/30 - 1/3

How can anyone blame a cruise line for rough seas? :confused3 Blame Mother Nature

I feel sorry for the folks who got off the ship in St Maarten (if they did get off due to weather), they experienced the worst of it then missed out on the rest of the trip.

For some reason the rocking didn't bother me much (and I am VERY sensitive to motion sickness of any type). I guess it's because I had a healthy dose of Bonine in my system at all times, and I started cruising back when a "large" ship was 40,000 tons - half the size of the Magic.

I honestly didn't realize how bad it was until they closed the pools, and I found out a lot of the CMs were sick. I did decide to play it safe that evening though and didn't go up to front of the ship to watch Enchanted. I caught it later in the week in the BVT.

Overall I thought Capt Tom did a great job of keeping everyone safe and well informed. :thumbsup2

I agree! I felt better knowing exactly what the situation was. While sea sickness is unpleasant, it's not usually life-threatening. I was able to carry on my normal activities (except for brunch at Palo where I ate a few crackers, some croissants and that was about it:sad2:). I knew it would stop when (if;)) the ship ever stopped rocking. It made me appreciate the rest of the cruise even more!

Of course, now we're dealing with the norovirus here at home:sick:. Granddaughter was sick Saturday, Jim woke up with it this morning, and I don't have time to have it so I just won't get it, right?;) Instead, I'll go to work this morning and enjoy a day when the fine citizens of this town all think we're closed so no one will bother us!

Have a good day everyone. If you're celebrating this week, have a wonderful holiday!

Beth
