Is anyone else staying at the Hyatt the night before the cruise?

We are! :yay: :yay: Being from the West Coast, we have to fly in the night before. We get in about 6pm. I figure we'll check in and then just grab something quick at the food court for dinner.

Are you watching Journeyman?
Cause if so.. No.. he goes back to solve what he needs to fix.. Then he moves on.. Not always same year.. or excat day..

It sounds like Quantum Leap except Sam never got to choose where he went.

Ok.. umm.. I'm an idiot.. :sad2:
DH told me we did this once on our cruise in January for DH & My Double Birthday cruise.. I even have pictures of DS with Minnie Mouse in a Moo Moo type dress thing at Parrot :rolleyes1

There is so much that goes on during the cruise that it is understandable to not remember everything!

I think kids will have a great time. It is just not a traditional character breakfast. Groups of adults only might not have so much fun.

That's a great outlook, and we plan on attending. The kids will never know that earlier in the year the characters used to come around the tables. :)

Are we allowed to hang our stockings from magnetic stocking holders on the doors or are we only allowed to use the fishes?

I would think either would be ok. We use the fish, but as long as it is magnetic and not sticky you can hang it from the door.

will this effect stockings being on the door?

No, stockings on the fish will be fine. I don't think the issue was paper and fire hazard. I think it was taping stuff to the doors which caused damage to the paint. Magnetic stuff is fine.

Exactly! They will get up and run around with the characters and have a great time. Brack and I will sit on deck 9 having coffee and pouting! :lmao: ;)

I got this off of the DCL Official site.. Thought it might help

Palo Dining

All Guests dining at Palo must be age 18 or older.

Dress code: required attire for Dinner is dress shirt or jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women.

For Brunch and High Tea, "cruise casual" attire is allowed — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops.

Each Guest may dine at Palo only once per cruise for each meal — Dinner, Brunch and High Tea.

Did we decide on boardgame day, friendly shuffleboard, Cards, etc etc

Looks like I drove everyone away... Jeesh... :confused3

I'm watching you tube and it is the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life.. DS sent me a link earlier to a video about this animated frog.. crazy frog.. who knew you tube would have a ton of it's videos.. :happytv: I'm crying I am laughing so hard.. :lmao:

Hi Stacy! :wave2:

I'm kinda here, but I finally got my new computer tonight (!!!) so I'm in and out of other windows setting things up to my liking.

I've gotten so used to living with a computer geek that I'd forgotten how much trouble pre-built systems are. Straight out of the box, the thing had 77 processes running at boot up! I mean...geez. I know the computer makers get paid by all these software companies to pre-load all this junk on here, but seriously, for the pennies per machine they're probably making for it, I'd rather pay them another $20 bucks just to get a clean machine. Geez.

DH was able to illiminate about half of them right off the bat, so that got it running at a more respectable speed. But I'm still tinkering. :surfweb:

Good Morning everyone! I'm working to catch up on this thread....

you need reservations for the character breakfast? How would I go about getting these reservations?

When you get into your cabin on embarkation day your dinner tickets will be waiting for you. They will have your dining rotation and table number on it. It also shows which day your rotation has the character breakfast. Your server will usually remind you the night prior also. Stacy, sounds like your server dropped the ball on that one. Too bad, since during the previous breakfast each character came to each and every table.

If you want to do Tea with Wendy or Alice (whichever one they are offering now), you need to sign up for that at Guest Services. It's free, but they'll give you a ticket to remind you. You also sign up for wine tasting, and other adult activities at Guest Services. They fill up so you'll want to do it as soon as possible. But I'd take care of any Palo, Dining Room, and Spa ressies first.

Hope this clears things up.

I DS2 is just not cooperating at the gym. :sad2: I had to run around the basketball court in circles last week with DS2 in middle playing around while DD5 and DS7 were in the kid's area. So, there may be more of me on the cruise than anticipated. :sad2:
- Jennifer

Yep, I realized after J was born that its not the pregnancy that kills your figure, it's the actual child rearing! Its so hard to find the time/energy to get to the gym with little ones. If you decide to try an at home solution, The Firm videos are really good. I used them when Jas was a baby, and they worked great!:thumbsup2

I'll also be bringing more of me than anticipated too. I've had just one minor health issue after another that has kept me from exercising regularly for like the last 9 months. I tried on my cruise clothes the other day, and they are already tight. So I went on line last night and ordered some new shorts and capris from Kohls. I'm finally realizing that just because you buy something in a bigger size doesn't mean you are giving up and intend to stay that size forever!

That is exactly what I read. However, what are the women wearing? Do we have to wear skirts or are capris acceptable attire for the Brunch?

- Jennifer

I remember reading somewhere that capris were fine for women, so that's what I plan on wearing - once I get some I can fit into! :rotfl:

Hi Jennifer,

Yes, there are 7 of us. My husband and I, and two sons ages 22 and 11, and three daughters ages 20, 15, and 8. (and yes, they are all both of ours!)

Thanks for the welcome :flower3:

Hello and welcome! My DD is 9 and will be in the Lab with your youngest!

Yep. It was something that certainly could have been taken to PM.

Does that mean you've turned on your PM function now? But to be honest, having one person make the post was probably better for you than to get 20 PMs all saying the same thing.

We're going to head out sometime Friday afternoon. DH is hoping to get off work a bit early. We have Disney passes, so we might try to visit one of the parks for a couple hours or just go to Downtown Disney and do some pin trading. We're staying near Disney, so we'll drive the rest of the way Saturday morning. We plan to get there no later than 10:30 so we can get everything registered and get ready to get on board as soon as they let us :woohoo:

When we lived in San Diego we had annual passes to Legoland and Sea World. I loved being able to go for just a few hours at a time. We saved more in food than the cost of the passes that's for sure! Plus if DD was acting up, I could say "thats it we're going home." Something you don't want to do when you've spent $100 just to get in the gate!

How do they board us? according to room catagory or do we get in line or something?

You get a boarding number when you arrive. We've never received one in FL, because we've taken the DCL bus and by the time we get there, they don't need the numbers anymore. In Barcelona we got there before they started boarding, and had a number of I think 4. But once they started boarding it went pretty quickly.

PJ found some villa-type lodgings that had two bedrooms. Do you want me to find out the name of them? We haven't stayed in them yet, and we're not booked to stay there on the 7th. The last time we checked they were $85 a night, but I'm sure the rate fluctuates. We drove by them the last time we were up there and they looked fine. They're in Kissimmee, not too far from WDW.

If you are driving in, you might want to check out the Radisson at Port Canaveral. It'd mean driving down there the night prior. But I believe they offer free parking during your cruise, and free transportation to and from the ship!

I was thinking the same thing.. I will go after but I won't go before.. Not if I want to make it to the ship for our Meet & Greet ;)

And the life boat drill right? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Regarding Palo reservations - I know that because I was able to make my reservations way early compared to others so I may not totally understand how it feels BUT we did have dinner last year at Palo (and it was a last minute cruise - booked less than 30 days or so out) but had the romance package so they made our Palo reservation for us.

While I enjoyed the dinner it was not the end all to end all. It seems to me too much pressure is being put on this one dining experience and like the whole cruise will be ruined if reservations are not gotten. Am I the only one who enjoys the Palo but at the same time would not let it ruin my trip if I could not get a reservation. I almost feel like giving up my reservation just so someone else could have it if it means so much to others.

Thanks for "listening" just had to express this.

Krisann, ITA! :thumbsup2 I've been on the Magic 3 times and have never gotten around to going to Palo. And I had a GREAT time on each cruise! Because our last cruise was so port-intensive, we are specifically planning to spend more time on the ship this time, and so I'm really looking forward to trying Palo. But PLEASE don't give up your reservation! It's a chance for you and DH to have a night out alone, after all these months. Even if the food at Palo was the worst on the ship, it'd be worth it for you two to dine there.

Does that mean you've turned on your PM function now? But to be honest, having one person make the post was probably better for you than to get 20 PMs all saying the same thing.
Well considering the same people usually post a variant of the same thing over and over whey they are going for a pirate from about post #85/90-101, I did not think it necessary to ask for permission to post updates and frustration about the PALO Brunch. Funny how again the clique mentality takes over and it is okay for certain people to participate in how they see fit and not for others.

Next time I will be sure to post a variant of WE GET IT, YOU ARE GOING FOR A PIRATE! Tired of the play by play and see how those participants like it. Only two people had anything to say, so obviously it was not that big a deal. Just like I was told about my offense to talking about spanx in the context it was used on a family forum.
