I read on another thread that someone mistakenly put their DCL tags on their luggage, even though they weren't doing DCL transportation, adn their bags were taken to the port.

Can you do that intentionally??

WoW!! Really ?? :confused3
I don't know.. I don't think I'd be willing to try it though.. I wouldn't want to walk around on the ship Nekkid.. :scared:

Yes, I read it in a trip report. Took them awhile to realize it when their baggage didn't come out with everyone else's at the airport.

OK for the newbie, what are you talking about? Tenders?

"Tendering" occurs when there isn't room for your ship at the dock. Your boat anchors offshore and they shuttle you over in smaller boats (kinda like lifeboats.) It's annoying only because you have to wait (not necessarily long) for the back and forth to the ship...so it's just extra time wasted if you need to run back to the ship for something.

Good news is, I don't think we're going to be tendered. It looks like we are one of the first boats in and scheduled for dockspace.

I am very disappointed in another website cc.com..you know the one I mean. I posted 2 posts asking about private tours for St. Martin, and not one response.

Does anyone know if you can "hire" a taxi for the day?

Ha! Oh, I know. Dead as a doornail over there! I would suggest calling/emailing a local limo company. DH and I were married in St. Thomas (during a RCCL cruise in '04) and we hired Gonzi Limo to give us an island tour. I don't remember the cost (it was a few years ago and NOT the island you are asking about) but it was super-cheap and the driver was extremely professional and really nice. He took us to all of the great spots to take pictures during the tour.

Good luck!

2008 SUmmer is going to be the Panama Canal and LA - Mexico.

Everyone is waited to hear what 09 is gonna bring.

Thanks! I figured it would be about that - I wonder how hard it will be to get a booking. I bet it will be harder than getting a pirate: :rolleyes1

If you were not online or on the phone at opening for this one you did not get a room. It sold out within the day. I had sent a request to DU prior to the day it went on sale and they were able to get our room....with an onboard credit! :thumbsup2

Not sure if you are too far away from Belmar but do you listen to 95.9 the Wrat ? :confused3
I don't usually listen to the Wrat, but "Uncle Leo" from the Wrat is a very good friend of mine. He and I work together on a major project every spring. We'll be starting our meetings in January.

You DO NOT use soap on a cast iron skillet.

MEN!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who fights that battle!

They make awesome weapons...

Oops..did I just say that.... .
The cast iron pans that I have were a wedding gift from my MIL, with the comment that if they didn't work out for cooking I could always through them! It's funny, I just used one of them while I was cooking dinner, and when Jim came into the kitchen, he acted like he was ducking! Of course, now I'll have to go back downstairs in a few minutes and make sure that he's not using soap to clean it (again). I've seasoned my pans so many times in the last 35 years!

That other board we're discussing is painfully quiet, although I just answered a post from someone who will be on our cruise. No one's posted on the roll call thread in days!

DS is OK with going to Kmart with me now.. They have Free internet computers to use while he waits :rotfl:

Stacy have you been recently, when I was at that conference I picked up a mickey and minnie santa outside plush statue for 19.99 each they are SOOOO cute!!!:santa:

my brother is NASCAR freak, his fiance (at the time) was furious when they had to schedule their wedding/honeymoon around nascar...:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

DrHug did the Petty driving experience at WDW. It was one of the highlights of his life! Our friend took some video, DrHug put it all together to make a little movie of his drive. He watches it often. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 My Dad goes to the Daytona 500 every February. We are going to be in town that week at WDW this year. So, we might meet him one day and watching some practice laps. He said it is usually open to the public and you can get up and close to the drivers.

Last Spring, I bought Bill (DH) and my Dad a course to drive Nascars at the Texas Motor Speedway. They had a blast! My Dad is now talking about going to Talladega (spelling?) with a buddy to do it there too. I know they have something like that at WDW. But, you can't pass another car at WDW. At TMS they were zooming around the track racing and passing each other. It looked like fun! :woohoo:

- Jennifer

Wow! That does sound like fun. Yes, at Petty at WDW there are only 2 drivers and 2 pace cars at any one time. They go pretty fast though. DrHug drove 119 miles per hour and it is only a one mile track. I'll have to tell him about TMS where they actually race!

I've got some sad news. My grandfather passed away this morning. They lived near Springfield Missouri for many years after retiring, and I was only able to visit them a couple of times in the past 15 years. Last year they moved closer to family, both of my aunts live in Peru, Illinois. October 6th we celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary, and I was able to take all the kids to see them. Ryan who's 1 and Ben who's 5 met them for the first time. He had a severe case of asbestoses from working with asbestos back in the 70's and 80's. He was in the hospital for about a week, fighting to breath every second. When he was admitted he was at about 48% oxygen levels in his blood.

I knew this day was coming soon, when I saw him last month I could tell that he was tired of fighting, and I gave him a big hug and kiss on the cheek. I was glad that he got to see my children before he passed. My favorite memories are of playing pinochle with him, grandma, and my mom every time we met. Probably the hardest part is that my grandma is in the early stages of alzheimer's , and we're not sure if she's going to wake up tomorrow asking where Don is.

I don't want to drag down the mood here, we'll all have a lot of fun on the cruise, but I thought I'd share with you all. My mom is taking it very well. She's a lifetime nurse, and worked most of my childhood at a nursing home. She knows that Don is better where he is now, and that there's no more pain, and there's no more struggle for him.

Take care all, I'll talk to you again on Monday.

Jason

:grouphug: Thanks for sharing this. Friends share more than just the good times and this says to me that you consider us friends. :grouphug: We will keep your grandma in our prayers. 61 years is a long time to be with someone. She will surely miss him. :sad1: Sounds like you have good memories from your young years with him, and now when you talk to your children about him they will have a sense of who he was also. :grouphug:

You know, maybe it's because I'm a guy, but Tina said that's sad. I say, that's resourceful. I figure, you're paying for the service, and your other alternative is to shop with your wife. :confused3 Which one would I do??? :thumbsup2 :surfweb:

Well I don't want it to sound like I was avoiding shopping with Jennifer. It is just easier for one of us stay in the car with the three kiddos versus unpacking everyone when we only need a couple of things. :thumbsup2 I was trying to kill the time until she got back, so I agree with your choice of words..."resourceful". :)

DrHug would shop! I'd be in the car trying to DIS! :rotfl: There is just something wrong with us! :lmao:

We have never had to tender at St Thomas. :confused3
