Abby, me and my family are down on deck 2 also!! we are going to be in the front of the ship in i think 2530 and 2532.

Glad we aren't the only ones! We are aft by the elevators. We stayed there last time and it was very quiet and very convenient to everything so I decided to book the same cabin.

I hope this cruise will be as memable as my first one.
That was our best vacation ,

We met at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge just a quick meet, people handing out ribbons, bubbles for the sailaway party, its a great way to meet up with the people you have been chatting with for months or more online.

I think that thats a great idea to do.

Come on along! It's MLK weekend so the kids have a day off and because we bought annual passes, we found an excuse to do another trip. You know, we have to get our money's worth on the passes. :rotfl:

Same reason why we are going to WDW so much this year as well....

Just as another idea, I've been on 3 cruises. One time we did the deck party and I personally didn't find it a good time to meet up with people -- too much going on. However, on the other 2 cruises, we set up a meet in the Promenade Lounge at 2:45 - so pretty much after boarding and lunch but before the boat drill. It worked out great in that we had time to chat with one another over a drink, we took a group picture and just made some friends for the week ahead.

Just a suggestion...

On my OCt. cruise that is what we did it worked out GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kristin-

NICE! I'm bunking with you! :lmao: We'll be down on deck 2. No chance of upgrading! Ah well. I will live vicariously through you.

Well, he is thinking about it really wants to do it but Carol told us not really worth $$$$..But it is only because it is our 15th Anniversary...

I just looked at all of your pics.. I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!! Brought tears to my eyes some of them.......

I second that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone get picked to host a DCL party????????????????????????????????????????????

You pick up the Autotrain up in Lorton VA,
You can board the train at 2:30 pm and it leaves the station around 4 pm
You arrive in Sanford Fl around 9 am the next morning.

You have a choice of seating, They have
coach seat or reserve a private Bedroom or Roomette.

we have always used the family bedroom unit, It can sleep up to 4. two lower and two upper bunks.

The last time we got two bedroom units that were attached. This also gives you 4, but it had a shower and bathroom in each unit, so we had two bathrooms /shower units

The seats you use during the day pull down/ expand to be your bedding.
Once it is turned down you really do not have a lot room to move around in the unit.

You can bring you portable dvd players on board, or other items to keep you busy, they also rent a device called a digi player, which has pre loaded shows and movies. on it

You get a dinner and breakfast in the dinning car, Dinner is not bad, Breakfast is prepaged cereals and some fruits.

We had taken the train 3 times, the first time is an adventure, great for the kids, The second time while ok, the magic wasnt the same.
We did it one more time because we wanted to see if the two bedroom units was any better, It was ok, and it sure beats driving all the way.
It is nice to have your car with you

In the early part of the trip you see some nice sites, but as it gets later its dark out, also since it is a railway, you also may see a lot of tracks and train crossings :rotfl2:

We took the Autotrain one time a few years back. We were in coach (sounds by your description a sleeper car would have been better). The dinner for the coach passengers was kinda of lame and breakfast was the same as the sleeper cars. I found the train seating to be based upon age - lots of families in our car and lots of seniors in another car. Needless to say our car was LOUD! Plus, for some reason, people just wander around all night long and that door (along with the light) would open, close, open, close - I went nuts (though the kids slept all night in a "fort" they made behind our seats (we had the last row). By the AM the bathrooms were getting a bit ripe as well.

On the positive side - you get there and within a short time your very own car is driven off the train, with your luggage still packed, and then off you go. The service was pretty good, lots of free snacks, they play a movie, and the kids seemed to enjoy it.

I was looking into the autotrain before, as Lorton is about an hour away. Maybe less depending on traffic, which in and around DC is horrible. I may look into it and get prices for 2009. I will be on deck 2 as well, #2570. I like midship. I think I need to post more, I feel left behind:sad2:

Thats what I heard about the coach seats,
another reason we got the sleeper units. The only way to travel the auto train, The other way you might as well stay up all night
