Exactly. I thought it worked out great both times we did this. When we tried to do the first meeting at the Deck Party on the other cruise, we really didn't connect with anyone as the meet was up on 10 but my kids really wanted to be down on 9 (so did I) so we went up there to try to find folks and then headed down to have fun at the party. That's why I like the Promenade Lounge meet first. We did the same, passed out bubbles, etc. for the sailaway and then went on our way. We connected with enough folks the first time that we ended up cruising with the same group again this year and are planning to in Nov. 08 too.

Anyone looking for an 08 cruise at a reasonable price, join the Bananaheads for the Nov. 29 Western! :)
I already have 15 nights on the Magic in the summer!!!

I like the deck party and PL for meetings!

...Yes, dinner can be busy. :) We thought it was nicer to be around a bunch of people you kind of know rather then around a bunch of people you don't know at all.:)
Nicer to see friendly faces then not.:):grouphug:

Definitely! ::yes::

I have been trying to convince my DH all day for us to do a 3 day DCL before our AKV vacation in May. He told me to find out pricing, that's half the battle:cool1: . I hope we can, I don't think I can wait 19 months to go on another DCL, and since we'll be down there anyway:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Seeing as you're in the area, it would be kinda rude not to... :rolleyes1 :lmao: :thumbsup2

Definitely when time draws closer, probably about 6 months prior, then we'll see who all would be interested in the wine tasting and see if we have enough for a private session. I can always ask the women who coordinated it on my last cruise who to contact to set this up. We had somewhere around 25 for our Oct. one. And we also had non-drinkers there as well to enjoy the company. It was on a sea day at 2pm and lasted about an hour.
:thumbsup2 DH & I did the conventional wine-tasting on our last cruise and really enjoyed it! It'd be such a hoot with folk we know... :goodvibes

I would love that. DH is thinking about upgrading us to a suite since it is our 15th Anniversary if we do it we could do that in our room..............................

We had a suite on our 25th Anniversary cruise and l-o-v-e-d it! I like your DH's style... ;)

...One thing, I don't think amtrak is in favor of sex on the trains,.
We kept seeing this sign on the trains

I get to go to Disneyland tomorrow! My dad just called and said he feels like driving up from San Diego tomorrow, so he's going to drag my mom with him (she'd not a Disney person) and we're going to meet at 7:30 by the tram. We're speculating that the threat of more rain will keep the crowds away. It seems so funny that I still get excited as often as I go, but I am. Yay, Disneyland! :cheer2:

Have a fabulous day, Melissa!!! :cool1:  :yay:

Can't wait to visit in August... :cloud9:

Enjoy, my next 'disney' trip is May to Disneyland Paris by Eurostar train, staying in the Hotel New york.

Have a great time, Andrew! :thumbsup2 We haven't been to DLP in years - maybe we'll use some DVC points and take a trip to see the Halloween decs in October...

Just as another idea, I've been on 3 cruises. One time we did the deck party and I personally didn't find it a good time to meet up with people -- too much going on. However, on the other 2 cruises, we set up a meet in the Promenade Lounge at 2:45 - so pretty much after boarding and lunch but before the boat drill. It worked out great in that we had time to chat with one another over a drink, we took a group picture and just made some friends for the week ahead.

Just a suggestion...

On my last two cruises, we met at the drink station by the Mickey pool at 3:00. This was a good time for the kids that were emailing eachother to meet. While the parents chatted and got to know eachother the kids swam. I found that if the kids didn't meet the first day, there was a good chance they may never cross paths.

We met up by the Goofy pool at 3pm but didn't really get to chat with many as everyone was coming and going...

Last time I went to DLP it was for Halloween and the park had been dressed up very well, the weather was good that helped, the Hotel New york should have had an ice rink in front of it, but as it was warm they couldnt freeze it.

The kids on the MED cruise had a 'meet' near the Mickey pool first day, a lot turned up and then they went around the ship.

OMG!!! Warm weather is not something I associate with DLP - esp in October!!!

My DD took DS to the Halloween celebrations at DLP when she was studying in Paris in 2004 - he went and stayed with her during half-term. I think that's the last time any of us visited... :cool2:

Here is a picture of most of the people from our meet thread. The group's picture has been posted multiple times on the Dis so hopefully it's OK for me to put it here. Sorry if this is one I've already put on the thread. This was taken before we started the wine tasting.

I think ours was supposed to be by the Mickey Pool, but I totally forgot about it. I would vote for a PL meet because we were out by the pool areas and they were so chaotic that first day. Plus it will be August and HOT! :cool2: Oh why can't this trip be right around the corner!?!?

I made it to Disneyland Paris a few years ago. I was only there for the day, but it was so interesting to see how different it was from the American parks. We were there in February and it actually snowed. That was strange! We also took Eurostar from London and I thought it was wonderful. I'm not used to having such wonderful public transportation in my part of the world so I really enjoyed getting around London and Paris so easily. My one major dissapointment was that Space Mountain was closed while we were there. I guess I'll just have to go back!
