Sound just like my last cruise, even on our 2006 cruise where we had arranged group tables for dinner, that many people in one area, a lot of time it really is hi and bye.
Definitely when time draws closer, probably about 6 months prior, then we'll see who all would be interested in the wine tasting and see if we have enough for a private session. I can always ask the women who coordinated it on my last cruise who to contact to set this up. We had somewhere around 25 for our Oct. one. And we also had non-drinkers there as well to enjoy the company. It was on a sea day at 2pm and lasted about an hour.
You pick up the Autotrain up in Lorton VA,
You can board the train at 2:30 pm and it leaves the station around 4 pm
You arrive in Sanford Fl around 9 am the next morning.
You have a choice of seating, They have
coach seat or reserve a private Bedroom or Roomette.
we have always used the family bedroom unit, It can sleep up to 4. two lower and two upper bunks.
The last time we got two bedroom units that were attached. This also gives you 4, but it had a shower and bathroom in each unit, so we had two bathrooms /shower units
The seats you use during the day pull down/ expand to be your bedding.
Once it is turned down you really do not have a lot room to move around in the unit.
You can bring you portable dvd players on board, or other items to keep you busy, they also rent a device called a digi player, which has pre loaded shows and movies. on it
You get a dinner and breakfast in the dinning car, Dinner is not bad, Breakfast is prepaged cereals and some fruits.
We had taken the train 3 times, the first time is an adventure, great for the kids, The second time while ok, the magic wasnt the same.
We did it one more time because we wanted to see if the two bedroom units was any better, It was ok, and it sure beats driving all the way.
It is nice to have your car with you
In the early part of the trip you see some nice sites, but as it gets later its dark out, also since it is a railway, you also may see a lot of tracks and train crossings![]()
Here are some shots from the train

It takes about 6 1/2 hr drive from Ct to the station, you could do it if you leave early 5 :30 or 6 am but what we do is drive part way down the first day, and the second day drive about 3 hrs , have a nice lunch then check in at the station. We stay around chambersburg PA. the first night,.
This way we can get into vaction mode before we get to disney.
One thing, I don't think amtrak is in favor of sex on the trains,.
We kept seeing this sign on the trains

I would love that. DH is thinking about upgrading us to a suite since it is our 15th Anniversary if we do it we could do that in our room..............................
Sounds and looks really neat. I bet my kids would think it was neat to do...
If you do not mind me asking is it expensive to do??
Also, is there a website to go on????
The earlier you book the better the rate, sometimes that have specials during the summer where kids go free with paying adults.
AAA discount too, but it can still add up.
For a one way for the three of us and the car it was a little over $800.
For the auto train.
