08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

Just 15 days til "booking day". Who's going to be online at 3am ?

What's booking day

Actually I'm not doing the midnight or 3am deal - I'm going to be - need the beauty rest you know!!

We're planing on being the ones whos names are announced before the ship leaves every port

We're not doing any DCL excursions and we're not really going to miss the ship (or be late returning) in any ports either!!!

Can anyone tell me the best way to transfers from Barcelona airport to Barcelona port? We are planning to fly from San Francisco 8/6 to Paris (CDG) arriving on 8/7. We will stay over night at the Sheraton Paris Airport Hotel and fly out to Barcelona on 8/8. I called DVC this morning to ask them the cost for ground transfers and they quoted me $25 per person each way (family of 4=$200) round trip. They said that arrival flight should be before 1:45pm and that you have to be on the ship before 4pm. I thought the ship does not leave until 9pm???? The departure flight should be no earlier than 10:30am. Any information or recommendation would be appreciated.

I originally posted to this thread under my husbands name ( Disney AK Cup) and then haven't posted in forever. I can't believe that the cruise is like 3 1/2 months away. You all will probably hate me but my group is in a Cat 2 so we have our excursions booked. Any way good luck to you all who can book 90 days out! I have been reading other threads and it looks like most people didn't have too many issues with booking excursions. There were issues with Palo brunch and high tea, but I think that is because they are only doing then on days at sea. I am soooooo looking forward to seeing the med. I have always wanted to do that and what better way than with Mickey and gang!

Wow - congrats on the Cat 2!

I will be up at 3AM on booking day! I'm not spending all of this money and then miss out on the places I want to see. I may switch some to non-DCL after the first couple of cruises return and report back.

pharmacy01 - I read on cruise critic that taxis are all metered and should be the same price. Some people are reserving cars to pick them up at a specific time for a higher cost.

nordkin - A meet on the first sea day sounds good!

Has anyone seen that Annette movie "Monkey's Uncle"? I have the theme song on a Disney cd, but have never seen the movie. Not to be dense, but we are referencing that as well as Olbia, right? WHERE is the monkey smilie when you need it?

This being our first cruise ever, I'm thinking we don't get to book anything until 75 days out. I hope it's not just the dregs remaining when it is our turn, but fear we might not get what we are hoping for.

It seems like forever ago that we booked this thing. It's hard to believe it is finally coming up!

Nice to see more DIS cruisers on this "Monkey's Uncle" trip! I don't think we can change/add to the title of this thread without Arica's (OP) help, can we? Or maybe a moderator could help? Or maybe it's not so important?

Your first cruise .....you're going to have the time of your life !!!!!!!
The MAGIC is a classy ship with the best cabins ! You'll soon see
why they are a little more than other lines.

Don't worry about the shore excursions. Many ports are doable on your own.And there's the private drivers. If you can link up with others, alot of times the price is cheaper than DCL tours. We've taken many cruises and I'm not fond of bus tours, so we have hired drivers in Rome, Florence, Naples, and Marseilles. We're doing the beach in Olbia and Villafrance and Barcelona on our own. We are hoping to do DCL's Cefalu tour out of Palermo.

Do you have kids on this cruise ? Let me know if I can be of any help. GINA

I know, I never thought I would ever set foot in a Cat 2, but my SIL was on the waiting list and this was the cruise they had available. Amazing! Any way we don't have any miniature people with us, just oversized kids!
Day 2 (at sea) Palo High tea
Day 3 (Palermo) Mysterious Palermo
Day 4 (Naples) Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri
Day 5 (olbia) no excursions and Palo dinner (possibly spa treatments)
Day 6 (Rome) Jumping back into eternal rome
Day 7 (La Spezia) Genoa, Aquarium, & Chocolate Factory
Day 8 (Marseilles) Palace of the Popes and Les Baux
Day 9 (villefranche) Highlights of Monaco and Monte Carlo including the Grand
Casino
Day 10 (at sea) Palo Brunch

Can't wait for the cruise!

Yes we have cruised twice with Disney and yes I probably will be up at 3am but unfortuntately I will be on a plane taking a red eye back from West Coast. Hopefully I will log in about 7AM.

Isn't it a wonderful feeling to be paid in full? I too will be up at 3AM on May 10. I hope we all get the excursions, Palo reservations, and Spa times we want.

In doing research on the chocolate museum in Barcelona, I went to their web site and discovered admission is free the first Monday of the month. This works out great for us because we are on the 8/8/07 cruise and will be in Barcelona the first Monday of August.
