07/22/2006 - The Oh-Seven Double-Deuce Double Dip Desperados!

[Disney? Again?]

Well, I just read all 54 pages in a row and I cannot wait to meet all of you! I guess reading it as it happened would have been an idea, I'm sorry I didn't know about this sooner.

This is our 4th Disney Cruise and I am SO glad to see that others are as excited about this as I am. My family will be glad to have me at the computer instead of having them try on clothes, etc. Don't know if any of you run in to this, but we try to go to Disney so often, our family and friends just try to pretend its an illness that needs to be cured.

Thank you all for sharing your stories, everyone seems very fun -- even nDisney fan Iceman The bag idea is very cute, and even though we're getting a late start, I love to shop.

Our family is me (younger than Bethipoo, but only by weeks!), DH (a TOTAL computer geek) and DS (age 7 "and a 1/2", also a computer geek). DH bday is July 23rd so I'll have to get some door signs made, thanks to the ideas I've received from the nice people on this board!

We got to tour the Walt Disney Suite our last trip, and HeelMD will be in lovely rooms!

Ok, well me being me.....

I know way back when we all (I think) did a little info about ourselves...but for me, that was way back when....(old age)

So I thought I would put in a little refresher...if you want to join in great, if not...well, I won't make you walk the plank...
Plus I realized I don't know many of your names...

So here goes...
I am Beth, just turned 45 yesterday....
Traveling with DH Rick(48) who is retired Air Force, but now stationed here in NC as a deployable contractor who is in charge of the communications network for the base.(ok a certified(literally) computer geek)
We have 3 DS(23,16,9) and a DD(21). On this cruise is our 2 youngest DS.
I am a stay at home mom, volunteer at the school, help run a youth bowling league, scouts, baseball, etc.....

We are traveling with 8 friends, one being Roodoll coming from Guam...so this is a reunion cruise of sort for us. This is our 3rd Disney cruise, but the first on the Magic.

I suffer from obsessive planning disorder and a serious case of Disney-itis...

I am looking forward to meeting all of you!

i'm kristin (23) just graduated from college last year, working as a biochemist in a lab. whee. i wish i had another job (i don't think i'm cut out for science, my heart is in art), my boyfriend's mom is constantly trying to get me to do odd jobs for her. haha. she wants to start some business and wants me to be in on it since she thinks i'm personable.

i'm travelling with my family, who i'm sure you all will hear from since they are basically all on the dis boards.

Hi, my name is Iceman. I'm traveling with my wife Mrs. Iceman (or what I like to call her, Mrs. Freeze), and my daughter Ms. Iceman (or what I like to call her Mini-Cube). I like hiking in the Sierras (or anywhere with natures beauty and few people) and with my significant icicles in hand. We also enjoy island vacations that involve water activities, hiking, and beautiful sunsets. Other hobbies include, making and melting ice in tall drinks, space (both taking up and outer space, where there's a lot of ice)... and...in the next 2 weeks I'll have a new hobby of trying to see how I can avoid as many Disney characters as I can

My name is Dustielyn (30) a.k.a. Dustie, I am a stay at home Mom, I also do Mary Kay but have taken about a 2-3 year hiatus, I stay busy being in leadership for our local MOPS group (Mothers Of PreSchoolers) and volunteering at our church; my DH is Billy (42), he is a composer/musician/singer/audio editor, which by default makes him a computer geek on some level..the Mac level. We have been married 8 years. Our DD (5) is Shelby...very much into dancing, singing..and our DS (2) Jackson, who loves trains, cars, and DH thinks he will be a drummer.

Hi Everybody!

We are late bookers for this cruise (about 4 weeks ago)! Don't want to think about the extra money we had to spend to book so close to the departure date - oh well. We will be in Room 2574. I have been on the DIS boards for a couple of weeks now checking what was going on, but we've been out of town alot, and it has taken me several days to read most of the 54 pages of the posts here, so this is my first post on this meet thread. It sounds like we have a great group going, and we really would love to be included in all of the Desperado stuff! I don't know if it's too late to get any of the buttons made for us - not sure now who was doing that?? We will definitely be at the meet, and will bring a bag to exchange - that's a great idea.

I am Lisa, 47, wife to Michael, 51 and we have one daughter, Taylor, who is 9, almost 10. We live in Wilmington, NC, and my husband owns a Chick-fil-A restaurant - those of you in the Southeast especially, will now what that is - so, Eat More Chicken

We have been on one other cruise, 7 day Western, 2 years ago. We absolutely loved it, so we are very excited about this cruise - but I'm really starting to panic!! I haven't booked excursions for Costa Maya or Cozumel yet!!! We did the Royal Swim with the Dolphins in Cozumel last time, and my daughter wants to do that again, so we'll try and book that separately. I just don't know what to do about Costa Maya. We really want to do the Dune Buggy thing, but DD is just 6 weeks shy of turning 10, and the Disney site will not let me book it for her. Does anybody have any info about booking this outside of Disney? Or do you know if Disney might let her go since she's so close to the cutoff once we get on board?

Any info about these Costa Maya questions would really be helpful. Also, could someone just confirm for me the time and place of our meet? And, please let me know if you have a DD or DS about the same age (9-10) as my DD. Thanks - and we're so excited to be part of the Oh-Seven

Any suggestions for door signs from anybody? How do you make them? What clip art do you use? I'm just clueless in this department, so any tips would be appreciated.

Thought I'd chime in here...

I'm Dave (36), DW Beth (better not say), with boys Matthew(5.9) and Jared (3). I'm a software guy for one of the computer companies here in OC - and a hockey fanatic...Beth is an elementary teacher and also involved in MOPS leadership at our church (small world, eh, Dustie?)

Our family travelling with us includes my MIL, FIL (former assembly programmer), a SIL(1) who works with abused children, SIL(2) a former DL castmember, her husband who does property management but is also a former DL castmember, and SIL(2)'s DS (9, as of tomorrow) and DD(5).

Our friends (who are lurking on this list - Hi, D!) include her, a professional singer, her husband, a former police officer, DS (7 - birthday party Today!), and DD(4).

Dustie, I'm going to have to pick your husband's brain - he does what I'd like to be doing.....

Welcome to lisataylor and her family Lisa, I have a son who is 9..we were in Wilmington back in May for our boys state bowling tournament. I got to visit up close and personal with the ER at the hospital when DS had a close encounter with a wall.

tdsryan....I will have a serious talk with whichever of my friends that is next to you....if its cabin 2068, that is John and Shirley....no kids...they should behave..well I take it back..their kid is roodoll, but she is up on deck 7.
If it is cabin 2108, I can't make any promises....thats Angie and Vinny, with a preteen and a 17yr old... And if they don't behave, I DON"T KNOW THEM...

I assume this group can appreciate that at 1 a.m. when the DCL "show" was on the Travel Channel I was thrilled to see more Disney. My husband just smiled and rolled his eyes.

I got my first item for the state bag today! Excited to have more to shop for in the next two weeks.

My name is Nan (younger than Bethipoo, barely), DH Tom (systems analyst) turns 48 Day 2, DS Mark is 7 "and a half!" I've seen lots of daughters who would be in the Club, hope they like Star Wars, ha ha!

We have Stateroom 8100, I guess everyone can wave to us from Topsiders. Can't wait to be there...looking forward to more info on the meet, etc.

Here's are little bio of our group: There's me, Beth - I'm a teacher - actually the librarian/media specialist at a catholic school. There's my DH Mark, he's a Chemist - my 2 DD - Alyssa (jazstar87) who's 18 - just graduated HS and will be going to college in the fall, Kristin (iggbees) 23, who gave you her info already. Happy birthday Bethipoo!! Sorry to hear that you didn't have that great of a time in Wilmington. I remember when the bowling tournament was here. We had a lot of kids eating at the restaurant who were involved in it. Maybe next time you won't have to visit our lovely hospital - uugh.
