06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Hi,
About Coz. I was able to register my teen DD's for the teen fury cruise at night, so I guess they're still planning on letting us stay later!
Lori, Did you get the magnetic frames at Michael's craft store? I want to try and make one. I have plenty of postcards from previous cruises that i can put in the slot.

Have any of you guys booked the Med cruise? We wanted to wait and book on board, but it seems to be filling up. Should i be worried?
Thanks
Wendy

Vija, hope you had a great Name Day!!

Wendy, I did get the magnetic photo pockets at Michael's craft store.

No, we are not going on the Med. We've got to start saving for ds's college. Although as I always say, maybe a scholarship will turn up. He did get all A's the last 2 quarters his freshman year. I hope he keeps it up!!

I think our future vacations may have to be a little closer to home.

Hey Jill, how's our reservation at your house going for next June??/ :lmao:
Do you serve any Mickey waffles???? :teeth:

Has anyone ever tendered to any port? I was wondering how bad it actually is. hopefully they'll get this all worked out soon. Does anyone know if you can go back to the ship, get cleaned up and go back into port???

Princess, we wanted to go play mini golf as well. I was hoping after dinner would be fun. I was looking forward to ordering a margarita from hole 2, 4, 6, 8...... :drinking1

Hmmm, now we might potentially have some good video footage here.... :scratchin

Ok, what is everybody doing now to get ready for the cruise...

Have you bought snorkel stuff, formal night stuff, pirate night stuff? I am thinking I need to get moving on some of this.

We tendered at Grand Cayman--it wasn't bad, but not as convenient as just getting off at the dock as we did previously in Cozumel.

There was a wait to get off and a longer wait for the tender to come back.

Refresh my memory of who is doing what in Cozumel. We went to the mini golf one time there, and my son and husband went to Mr. Sanchos for jet skis. We did some shopping, but I wonder what condition the place is in now.

Beth-Thanks for the insight on tendering.

Princess-Yes, some more interesting footage!!! I have formal wear and tropical dress wear that I only wear on the cruise. So that stuff is set. We had snorkel gear from our last trip, but this past fall we found some quality equipment at K-mart for $5-10 on clearance. I love to shop for bargains.

Ds was a pirate for halloween one year so I guess he'll bring that. Dh will probably bring his UGLY DOLPHIN tropical shirt (Did you read that Bill????) Either that or he will search for a new one!!!

Have you seen the new navigators? I looked through the latest Western. I like the new ones. Change is good.

Now if we want to get some good video footage, let's have some adult meets at some of the shows. Karaoke Night :thumbsup2 Who's the Boss? (do I need to ask this? -sorry to some of you guys)

even better footage
Wine, beer, margarita & tequilla tasting!!! :teeth:

Does anyone else plan on going to the Art of Entertaining classes?
I did the appetizer, cocktail, fruit & ice carving last time. The fruit & ice carving was a bit slow. The appetizer one was ok, we got food. The cocktail one was pretty good-we got to sample!!!

I'd like to try the cake & plate decorating, dazzling desserts, entrees and maybe the appetizer & cocktail one again.

Oh I forgot to mention some other good ideas for dis meets for those interested, Salsa class and the Basketball Challenge!!!

Come on-who's with me!!!!

Geez.....I feel so un-prepared....no ressies, no formal wear, no pirate costumes.....nothing!

Until I read all of this, I was actually feeling pretty good about having the foresight to go get DSs some dress shoes today that they can wear for Easter, a family wedding in May, and the cruise.

I'm having a hard time getting motivated beyond that.....somehow all those big plans I had to lose a lot of weight before I need to shop for the cruise don't seem to have been realized. :guilty:

Well, today's a new day.....maybe I better go workout!!!! :bounce:

I really like the Art of Entertaining classes! I have done a few on each of our cruises and plan to do some more this time around. My DH & I also want to do the new Martini Tasting class. Don't know if he would go for the salsa class though!

I have been browsing Ebay for pirate costumes. Got my kids pretty much settled, but still shopping for DH & myself. Also bought formal wear for myself & girls on Ebay. My DH has his own tux with a Mickey vest!

Anybody else up for the Martini Tasting?

Linda, don't be sad!! You have plenty of time to organize and lose a few pounds!! And if you do the martini tasting-you won't care!!!

Carole-I'm definitely interested in the martini & margarita tasting. Wouldn't that be fun if the salsa class or karoke were right afterwards!!! Now that would be some great video footage!! :teeth:

Ok, just so you all don't think I will be roaming around with a drink or 2 in my hand all the time,

or sitting at the bar demanding my next drink of the day,

I just wanted to let you know that while these pictures might cause you to think that I will be the one dancing on the table and you might be thinking, Maybe I should steer clear of Musicgirl. I really don't drink that often.

I do like to have fun! :woohoo: My favorite is the kahluacolada-that was one of the drinks in my hands. The other was a bahama mama and it was DH's.....really...I don't even like bahama mama's...I was just posing for the picture!!

Do you think they carry the bucket drinks????

My favorite tasting will be the CHEESECAKE BUFFET. Now we're talking. :cloud9:

Oh I really should get back to cleaning. yuck!!! I wanted to work in the garden but it's FREEZING here. Hello God!!! It's April, you know Spring!!!!
So instead of cleaning, I'm just trying to entertain myself.

I alone, :teeth:
well sort of, DH is an hour away visiting a sick friend, yeah right, single male 43 year old wants to take him to Hooters bar. DS is the one who is sick. So I feel like " all by myself, just want to be, all by myself" come on sing with me!

Maybe I need a nap!

Hi,
I'm crazy here! Doing report cards all day! And it's freezing here too!
FYI : pirate night, they give you bandanas at the tables! We go our gear last year in disneyland before the cruise.
I loved the maragritta tasting last year, sign me up! Maybe wine tasting too! We also enjoy going to the show in the bars at night anyone up for dancing?!!

Those who signed up for Ivan's tour? Did you just get a verbal e-mail commitment? We haven't received anything except that.
I am so ready for a lounge chair by the adult pool and a konk cooler!
Wendy :cool1:

BuzzLightYear3 , I am in the same boat as you. I wanted to loose 100+ pounds before our cruise, and that didn't happen! :sad2: But, I started today. We have 11 weeks before our cruise, so that would be 22# loss (I want to loose 2# a week). What a way to start on the healthy goal! Will you join me? sounds like maybe we can help each other out. Either way I know we will have a great time.

You guys will love still love me right??? I was actually going to post that I am overweight, and please don't judge me by that. I look forward to meeting everyone of you at Sail Away, and I don't want to be self conscious. So it's out there, but you will see 22# less of me! :cheer2:

I completely understand! I wanted to lose at least 30-50 pounds, but I may have to settle for 15-20 because I just can't get motivated. Maybe warmer weather may help.

Not to change the subject, but I was wondering if anyone was worried or had any problems with tasteless messages being written on the door magnets? My dh would prefer that we not have one because he believes that there might be people that would write nasty messages. :confused3

I would love to do the wine tasting! I promise not to leave too many footprints on the tables! :cool1:

Princess Vija- No judging here. I am Pooh sized and had grand plans of losing 100+ pounds before the cruise, but alas, no such luck. I will join you in trying to lose 2 pounds a week until the cruise!
Are there really margarita tastings? Count me in! I didn't drink at all on our first DCL cruise as I was afraid of seasickness, but since I did well, I will have a couple this time around! Also, I have signed up for the DCL ruins tour in CM, but now I am second guessing myself and thinking I should try to get in on the David and Ivan tour. It starts earlier and is done around lunch time. DCl doesn't start until 12:15 and ends at 5:15. I was worried about getting back to the ship in time if we didn't do DCL tour, but David and Ivan's ends early enough. Who is going on the tour by David and Ivan. What do ya'll think? :confused3

I was joking about the footprints on the tables comment, I only do that at home.

Anyway, I was thinking about our last cruise and what items that I had forgotten at home. Bubbles!!! When we were ready to set sail, I had realized that we had forgotten the bubbles for the sail away deck party. I am buying a bunch of little bottles of bubbles (like the ones they give out at weddings) and decorating them with little Disney character stickers. I know how bad I felt when I forgot them and I am sure that I wasn't the only one! We had also forgotten an extra suitcase for all of the items purchased on & off the ship, so we had to buy a suitcase on board. Ooooouch! Sticker shock! :sad2: Just a heads up to the first time cruisers.

I mentioned earlier about my dh and his friend going to Hooters. He's on his way home and He's telling me about it. Here's his comment!

That is the saddest place in the world and the food was terrible.

Our friend thought my dh should buy me an official Hooter's uniform, My wonderful dh knew better.

No worries, no judgement here. WE ARE ON A DCL CRUISE!!! :grouphug:

Thanks for the support! You guys are the best! :thumbsup2

bairdbeth, hey that is fantastic, I am glad you are joining me! We can so do this and loose about 2# a week. Anyone else want to join us? We can support each other as we get closer!

we are also signed up for the DCL CM ruins tour, but I have been wondering if we should switch to David and Ivan's. I think it might be nicer to go earlier. I will have to talk to DH about this.
