06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Count me in on the weight loss group. I'd love to be part of a support group!

Lorie - Funny that your DH went to Hooter's tonight. We sent to see Billy Joel at the MGM Grand Hotel. The new Hooter's casino is across the street from MGM. DH joked that we should park at Hooter's. In the end he was right. Traffic was very heavy at MGM. I still think he wanted to check Hooter's out.

I LOVE the magnet idea, but I'm sure there might be a few who would write on them in a not so nice manner, but you can always erase it. During the day the stewards are always in the hall, so it could happen later in the evening I guess.

My dad, son, nephew and I are doing the David and Ivan tour--I prefer the early tour--then I can get back and relax. We never eat off the boat--too worried about getting sick. Someone I know got food poisoning getting something from a vendor on St Maarten and was then stuck in her room for 3 days.

I'm all for handing the wipes out. Another thread mentioned the crayons at dinner being used over and over---now I have to bring my own. I feel awful for anyone who gets sick on their vacation, and sometimes the family must stay in the room too. We waited 2 years o cruise DCL again-so I am all about not touching everything and handwashing.

Hi all!

I am definately in for galley tour, art of entertaining, and any salsa class or martini tasting! Did the wine tasting last time, it was fun!

David and Ivan....I've emailed them 2 times in last 10 days, with no response yet. I keep checking my spam folder too, nothing... a couple folks on the Cruise critic board also are waiting, maybe their internet is out.

I'm still up in the air on it though, I know it will be great, but it will be hot, humid and buggy.

Looking at Chac-chi, Cat's meow, Pez Quadro, it's hard to imagine not just beach hopping all day!

There are tons of pictures of Costa Maya at the webshots site, just type in Costa Maya, or Majahaul( get the spelling correct!) and Chac-chi, and wow, it sure looks nice there!

On the weight loss, there is plenty of time! The best "diet" I ever did was the 6 meals a day. Divide up healthy eating into small portions( I ate on a salad plate, and no seconds) eat every few hours something healthy. No sugar, no white bread, nothing with white flour or white rice.

I increased my walking or dancing in the house, and in no time, the weight started to move!

Best part is , that was years ago, and I never gained it back! I now can eat what I want, just not the amount! I still eat small portions.

It really worked for me.

11 weeks, you can definately drop some pounds!!

Put on some Salsa music and start dancing!! :bounce:

I think it would be fun to do some of the extras with a group. Although I enjoyed the entertainment series, I was by myself. Gee, DH didn't want to go to the fruit carving class????

I would hope that people wouldn't write mean things on the boards. You could always do a board on the inside for family only and a picture magnet on the outside.

Carole-funny how they always "gravitate toward the Hooters". We had the Hooter's airline at our airport. DH hates planes but he thought it might be worth a try. Oh well, they just closed so I guess we'll never know!

bartjwb-I don't generally dance on the tables in public either!! If I see any footprints on tables, I'll know who was there!!! :rotfl:

My mom is planning on doing the art of entertaining classes. She has a catering buisness and is always looking for new ideas. She is worries about getting sea sick, because the last cruise she did, she was very sick, but have done others and not gotten sick. I told her that the Disney cruise is magical and that we will get some extra pixie dust and not worry about getting sick.

As for the weight loss, count me in. I hav lost 190 lbs in 2 years and have gained about 20 back due to some stressful times early this year and traveling with woork a lot.

Jeff, was your mom on a smaller ship? I've been sick on DCL, but that is only because of rough weather. I take dramamine less drowsy from the time I leave home and I don't stop taking it. I take 1 at night so obviously it won't hurt there if I'm sleepy and then 1 around 11am, so that if I want to have a drink at dinner the combo won't knock me out,.

Someone else mentioned apples for sea sickness. I'll be loading up on those!!!

Now, I was just out shopping (yes, I know again!!) and I just got a laminator. I've wanted one for a while for items at school and since I wanted to try to laminate just pictures for the door magnets, I thought now was a good time.

I tried the home depot mickey heads so far. I wrote on it my screen name and the date, laminated it, and then put a magnet on the back. I'm having some fun now!
Oh what we do to pass 625 days til a cruise.

75 days + a few hours!!!

If anyone wants a lime green mickey paint chip magnet let me know.

What is the official paint chip color? Is it sonic boom which is lime green but a brighter shade or is it alien green which is a pale shade of lime green?

Princess: You go girl! I'm with you too. My goal is to loose 15 by cruise time!
Sea sickness: Natural Ginger pills work great, Also Bomine take at night. But, Disney is a really stable ship, I 've only felt sick once in 6 cruises, and that was a day at sea and rough water. I was very sick on both Princess cruises we went on.

Lorie, I'm going to try and make a door sign, even though the kids think it's corny!
Wendy :)

have a good time Wendy!!

Good luck to all of those who will be trying to get ressies. You might just see me lurking to see if those elusive brunch may be added!!!

Princess Vija, Bairdbeth, and others.....excellent news on the support group! Just knowing I'm not the only one makes me feel better already. Now I hope I don't let the support translate into complacency! Let's do it! 22 pounds down and we'll all have something to celebrate!!!!

Hey, count me in on the Margarita tasting!

Tonight is sign-up night for me as a first time cruiser. I'm not getting up at 3 a.m. though.....we aren't planning any excursions, and it sounds like Palo's is already booked anyway, so I'll give it a try in the morning, but if I don't get anything, I'll just have to take my chances with an on-ship sign-up. Certainly, the cruise won't be ruined if we miss Palo.

For Casta Maya we're planning to join the DIS meet at Maj beach.

For Cozumel, I'm thinking about doing an independent trip to Paradise Beach.....I spent a while reading reviews on Cruise Critic, and that sounded pretty good.....anyone interested in joining us for that one? (As a reminder, we have a DS-13, DD-9, and DS-6.)

We're skipping the excursions because my DS-13 was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease last fall, so I want to be able to come/go if needed to/from the ship. I also don't want to risk having him eat anything in the ports, so we won't be able to be gone for too long. Hopefully he'll be fine, but just in case, I want to remain flexibile. We aren't too big of pool/beach rats anyway.....I think a few hours and we'll all be ready for something different.

75 more days!!!! :cool1:

Linda

Hi guys! :wave2: I've been so busy getting our son Pat (senior in high school) ready for a huge trip to Italy coming this Thursday, so many details to complete. He's going to have so much fun. :)

Wow, I've been gone for a couple of days from the computer and I go and miss about 3 pages of fun stuff!!!

So much to catch up on. Lets see...Lorie, I'll do some salsa jiggin with ya, for sure. :thumbsup2 And I'd love to do some partyin in the clubs at night. Last cruise we didn't know a soul and we kind of "came and went" from them. So if we can get a group together and have some fun, that would be a blast!

To those that are losing weight, have faith. I lost 80 lbs in the last year or so. I am stuck on the last 15, so I joined Weight Watchers last week. Never tried it, and went to the first meeting by myself. I think having to be accountable for stepping on the scale each week will work for me. I also live at the gym every single night for aerobics. Thats a blast, I really enjoy it. Now I think I"m going to add an hour a day to that just to walk. I have to get ready for the parks at Disney too. Good luck, you're certainly not alone!

I did sign up for the double CC float deal. You get 75% off if you sign up ahead of time online or onboard. Pretty cool.

Can't wait to meet you all, we're going to have so much fun!!!!!

Goodmorning ALL :teeth:
Yupy I finally was able to do my resevations :cheer2:
I was only able to get Dinner reservations at Palo? Nothing else came up once you go in to do reservation.
OK I think I might pass out from sleep! Goodnight! :surfweb:

Linda, don't forget that you can order room service and take some lunch or snacks with you into Coz. I don't know how that works for you ds diet, but it's a thought so you won't have to worry about the food at Coz.

I did get up at 3am to see if they would open up a few brunch ressies. Since it didn't happen, I reserved our rafts.

Hope those of you who were trying for ressies, got what you need.

What day is the current cruise going to Coz. this week? I haven't seen a live report from anyone. I was hoping to hear how the tendering is.

Ok now to the important stuff. OMG, my legs are soooooo white. I put on shorts and eek!!! I blinded my dh!!!! :scared1:

My family keeps going back and forth on early vs. late dining. We are with DD17 and DS14, so we don't have to worry about them staying up for late dining. I read that some people feel rushed getting to early seating especially on port days, but on the June 24 cruise we only have two port days and Costa Maya "on board" is early enough to make it to early seating. I know that the dinners take a long time, and I am hestitant to eat too late at night. But I also have read that the second seating is less full, less rushed, better tables, etc. We have been on DCL before, so we probably won't go to some of the shows since we have seen them already, so going to shows before vs. after dinner isn't that big of an issue for us. Thoughts from anyone else with teens?

Hi,
We are eating late, DD 13 and 16 DS 19, They usually don't stay for dessert, but we have always liked this time, since they tend to sleep late eat late etc.
Wendy

jtjcwise and jillpie.....congratulations to both of you on your excellent weight loss! :thumbsup2 You are definitely both to be admired. Wish I had your motivation a year ago, but it's never too late, right?

We made some ressies today.....now even though I'm a first-time cruiser I feel like a 'real person' too! :smooth:

Guess we're about at the 74 day mark!!!!

Marie, we had late seating for our 2 short cruises and the Eastern. I liked the late seating for the shorter cruise, but not for the longer one.

There is so much more to do at night, and we were either to full from dinner to enjoy buffets or sometimes even the evening shows because we felt like just relaxing after the big meals.

I figure even with the earliest main seating of 5:30, it won't be a problem. Even to be on board at any of the ports by 5:00 ( I would not be any later on Coz or CM) a quick shower and off we go to dinner. Since the Coz/CM will be casual dress, I'm not too worried.

We were also starving by the late seating. I know I've said this before, but we would get some snacks and stuff to hold us over, but we wanted to be able to enjoy a great dinner.

There were a few times the teens were doing activities at 9 and we weren't even close to being done with dinner.

I'm looking forward to the earlier dinners.

Okay! For all those who have "double dipped" too often, did you weigh in today? I have my starting weight :scared1: I did well eating all day, but caved into 2 brownies tonight. Anybody want to have a certain day to weigh to check weekly loss? Remember we can do 2 pounds a week! I need lots of support. With my back issues right now, if I don't lose 20 pounds I may have to rent a scooter for the parks and would prefer not too! Are we all "onboard"? Let's have a "magical" dieting experience! party:

Sure! I'd love a weigh in check once a week. Well, tomorrow is my second weight watchers meeting and I think I've lost 3 lbs this week! :thumbsup2 My goal is to lose 14 lbs by the cruise and my personal overall goal is to lose another 10 after that. I did my usual step aerobic class tonight and it was great.
