06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Well, I am almost a teacher! :teacher: LOL! I am student teaching right now. Currently I am a nurse and yes, I am still working while student teaching. Hopefully by then I will have a job lined up for the fall! keep your fingers crossed. DH is an electrical designer for a magazine publisher. We will be celebrating our anniversary... Just delayed from May!

I too am still looking for an email friend for my DS 11.

Jeff, I sent you a PM.

My younger son is 9--wil just be 10 when we cruise and is outgoing, but the last 2 cruises never really met anyone. I'm sure he would like to get to know someone his own age before the cruise!!

Is everyone dressing up for pirate night? What did you get and where?

What time is the launch on the first? That would be amazing to see. I guess you can see it from the port.

We have used Happy Limo and are using them this year too-we were very pleased.

Beth

Hey everyone,
Wow a lot of anniversaries  . We will also be having our 19th anniversary on the 27th of June. My DD is turning 12 on the 24th so we are celebrating a lot on this cruise.

I am not a teacher, I work on computer security stuff but my mom was a math teacher for many years and my sister is a teacher in Texas. So it runs in our family.

We are flying in on the 23rd and staying at the Radisson. It would be great if we could do a meet at the hotel that night, maybe around the pool or something. I have a princess: DD that is 8 and in 3rd grade and a princess: DD turning 12 that is in 6th. They have started to email some new friends but are always looking for more.

I ordered my DH and myself pirate shirts from www.piratestore.com as I thought I could do a shirt but I don't think I could handle an entire outfit. I got my DD's each a pirate: pirate outfit that they can wear. The shirts arrived yesterday and I ordered them a couple of days ago, so good turn around.

For CM we are going to do the Chacchoben ruins with the tour group of David and Ivan. We should be back at the beach by the afternoon. Hopefully we can hook up with the beach meet at that time. If not we will probably either shop or head back to the ship. I am not sure what we are doing at Cozumel due to the hurricane damage it has sustained. I was hoping for a snorkeling trip but fear that the reefs were so damaged that it might not be worth it. I am still working that one out.

Susan

Teachers, Teachers everywere Teachers!!! I am not a Teacher but I work with out a couple thousand!!! I do payroll for Prince William County School system! My DH is an office manager. We have been married almost 11 years this August, but officially only 1 year. We finally did the (church) ceremony last year. I have knowed my husband since HS and love  since!!!
We have two beautiful kids DD is 9 but she thinks she is 18? princess: DS is 6 he is shy at first but don't let that fool you he is a class clown  .

This is our first cruise we are use to going to CA Disneyland that is were my mom lives.

Pirate night, formal night and semi-formal.....Oh my we need different wear for each event...I am way behind. Please someone break down for my what to wear each event..... :listen:

Friend from work just returned from a cruise that stopped at Coz. She says it is still in bad shape but they are working hard to get back to normal!!! There is still alot of cleaning up to do!

Buzzlightyear3 - Thanks for the info on the emailing - I will check with my kids tonight & pm you in they want to - my ds is always on the computer, but my daughter only sometimes - it would be nice if they could meet at the slide at bcv friday afternoon - our flight gets in around noon - hope to be swimming by 2! What do your dd & ds like to do? My dd is into sports & ds also, but really likes wrestling & starting to like girls (ha ha).

Jeff-that is too cool that you have the same anniv. as we do!!!! And then Susan has their 19th on June 27!!!! Should we all get our table together so we can be like the newlyweds??? There is always at least one table of all newlyweds in the dining rooms. We may not be just wed, but we were wed 19 years ago in June!!!!

Well we haven't been to an official pirate night, but I think tropical still fits the bill. I know Oriental Trading has a bunch of pirate stuff and its pretty cheap.

Yes, lots of teachers here!!! I'm guessing it's because most of us can not take off for something like this during the school year. When June hits, out we go!!

Speaking of school, I've got to go do my grades. TTFN :tigger:

Wow! Lots of teachers....I admire all of you! My cousin teaches students with special needs. I help my DS with his homework, that is as close as I get.

I manage operations for a private trust company.

On the ship, there will be multiple teachers, multiple anniversaries and I've noticed lots of "Beth's".

B.B. (I'm a Beth too)

We experienced Pirate Night last Year on a 4 day. We just wore tropical shirts, but we had Mickey and Goofy Pirate hats for the boys. It was a lot of fun and the best part was the fireworks at Sea at the end of the evening. The waiters had my DSs walking around the dining room with several other people doing the limbo. Some people were dressed in pirate outfits, but we did not feel out of place.

Talking about teachers, My DW teaches, my sister teaches, my wife'e sister teaches (at the same school as my wife), her daughter teaches, and my brother's wife teaches. Teachers everywhere, and I will be on a cruise full of teachers :rotfl:

We are looking feverously at what to do at Costa Maya and Coz. My wife and sister are thinking about the ruins at Costa Maya with Ivan and Dave. Anyone done this? Not sure what I will do with the boys because I do not think they would enjoy the ruins. Any ideas?

Certainly a lot of teachers! I am currently a SAHM after working for an insurance company in Manhattan for almost 18 years. My DH is a pediatrician. When he finished his residency (pediatrics is his second career) we moved to Las Vegas. Part of the deal was that I could be a SAHM if we moved here.

My girls are 9 and 12. They both have made friends through these boards and would love to meet more people. PM me if anybody else is interested.

We're still trying to figure out if we are going to do an excursion in Cozumel. In the past we did the Fury Catamaran. We had a blast but want to maybe do something different this time.

Can't wait to make our reservations! Have a good night everyone.

I just sent an email to David and Ivan to signup for their Ruin tour. I have only seen rave reviews on these guys from other cruise line boards. If you decide to do this maybe we can met up and travel together.

Susan

Can anyone tell me what time tomorrow we can start signing up for excursions, palos, and spa treatments? I read somewhere that it starts at 3am but people were confused with eastern or central time. Can anyone help here? :confused3

Susan

I too would like to know the time!!!

Can someone direct me to the link for the David and Ivan tour?

OMG, I thought we sign up Sunday morning, not tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still don't know what we are doing!!!!! :scared1:

Hi Susan! I just signed my DH Don and son Pat (18) up for this same tour with David and Ivan yesterday. So when you see two handsome young lads :teeth: , oh and pretty tall, say hello :teeth: .

Me? I'll be beachin it with my new Dis peeps :cheer2: . But my DH cannot wait for this excursion. Its something he's looked forward to the whole year. He loves everything history. So the response came back and said you'll be leaving at 8:30 am from that restaurant in town. Not too bad. I suppose room service breakfast is in order? Have fun!

Ok, I checked out the Ivan and David's site and it looks pretty good, I just have some reservations and maybe you guys can help me out...

Why is their tour better than Disney's?

It would save us about $75 if we did their tour, but since this is our first time doing excursions I am a little nervous. Because if we don't get back to port on time the ship sails without us..... But with a Disney excursion you would be fine...

Well, with all these teachers, I hope everyone is taking notes!!!! There will be a quiz!!! :teacher:

Jeff, let the one group go to the ruins and join the dis group at Maj. Beach! party: :boat:

Susan-I believe that it is eastern.
I'm going to do a search just to make sure it is Eastern time for ressies.

I'm going to make a Palo Brunch ressie for Mon. at 11. There are only 2 of us, but I thought if anyone got closed out, they could join us. I know I can always cancel once I board.

according to a post on another thread, it is 3 eastern standard time. I wonder if the ressie center is based somewhere out west?

I posted way back when, but now the cruise is becoming more of a reality. We have booked our flight and I just wrote to David and Ivan to book their ruins tour in Costa Maya. I'm holding off on Cozumel since I'm not completely convinced that we'll be able to dock there; several other ships are scheduled that day, and I've heard that tenders are in short supply.

Anyway, I teach 7th grade and my husband is dean of instruction at a charter middle school. Our kids (DS-11 and DD-7) can't get away from school!

I guess I'm glad we don't do Palo's or the spa-then I don't have to get up so early!!

We have eaten at palos for brunch and tea, but never dinner. We are traveling with family and want to eat with them.

If I thought those spa treatments would really fix my cellulite or wrinkles I'd get up, but I didn't see plastic surgery offered.

I'm curious about the whitening--has anyone done this? How can they offer that in a spa?

Good luck getting your times.

Beth

I don't know what type of whitening this is but I don't thinkf I would attempt this on a cruise. I am currently trying to bleach my teeth with bleaching trays from my dentist. They have told me that your teeth can become very sensitive. I am also supposed to avoid coffee, tea, red wine, iced tea, colas and fruit pies. Not condusive to cruising in my book!

I'll see everyone back at 3 pm est!
