06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

BethA-I wondered about the Pirate II movie as well. It would be really cool if we got to see the premire (sp-sorry, I can't think right now!)
Way back when, we were the 1st to see Stitch on board.

Well for all those wondering if Coz is still up in the air, I have a little info that makes it look as if it is a higher % that we are still going to Coz. I did a little snooping on the cruise meet thread for the next Western cruise in April. It is in 2 weeks and they are still scheduled for Coz. I think they may be the test group.

I'm getting jealous of everybody who is able to book their plans! ....it's our first cruise so I guess we need to wait a couple more weeks. We don't really have our hearts set on anything in particular though, so I'm not too worried. I think the thing we're actually looking forward to the most is the CM DIS meet at the beach and renting those waverunners!

A question for those of you with DSs in the 13ish range: what are you planning to have them wear for formal night? When I first booked this cruise, I was thinking it'd be fun to go all out on formal night, e.g., get DH and both boys in tuxes and my DD and I in nice dresses. DH really doesn't want to do the tux thing though.....he'd prefer to just wear a sportcoat and tie, so if we're not going to go all out, I'm not sure I want to invest in suits for the boys and am thinking I'll just have them wear dress shirts with ties. What's everybody else planning? (I'm sure I'll be in hot water if I ask my DS to do something dramatically different than most of the other DS13s!)

Linda

We have been on four cruises, and I can't recall ever seeing a 13 year old in a tux. Most wore polo shirts, with dress shirts and ties on formal night (my son never wore a sportcoat). That being said, I am going to try tuxes with my DH and DS14 this time. It is a great chance to get a formal family portrait! They have a ton of backgrounds, including one with the Disney ship and others that are like what you would see in a studio.

Oh, you have to love teenage boys (and girls, but I have a boy). We were just discussing the teen wild side being on the 1st one. I mentioned that it wouldn't be so bad since we were having a dis meet at the sail away party.

Oh if looks could kill!!! "oh no, I'm going to be on the basketball court, that's what I do"

If looks could kill right back at him. All I had to do was mention our deal about letting him get his drivers temps and our deal concerning car insurance. The deal is that he can not argue with his parents or he has to pay for the insurance himself.

"ok, I'll stay 15 min, and then I'm going to the courts"

We'll be refining that 15 min. time frame of course!!!

Well, maybe we could actually work a basketball game in for the teens as a part of the dis meet! We could all meet, sail away, the ones that want to take off for a game of b-ball. Hey it might be a great way for them to "bond".

DS14 will happily play basketball with him! They could have their own sailaway party.

I remember seeing Stitch onboard when it came out too.We also saw Princess Diaries.

My sons and nephews have always worn suits on formal and semiformal nights and I force them to get the family photo--you'll probably see this on our cruise. Blake-my 17 yr old--will be the one refusing to smile and asking why I need these pictures.
You will see all manners of dress from tux to shorts in the dining room on formal night.

Oh my gosh, I had two whole pages of FUN to catch up with here!!!! We're going to have so much fun on this cruise!

Lorie, Brendan will gladly join Andrew for a bball game!

For formal night, I plan on just packing shirts and ties for all three boys. My husband will bring a jacket, especially since we're also doing a Palo dinner.

Does anyone have any idea when sunset is? I think I'll book the dinner at 6:30 on Tuesday. That way we won't miss formal night and nice pictures together.

To Wendy..you asked about the ruins tour with Ivan. I booked it for my husband and DS18. Have you booked it yet? It looks like its filling up pretty fast. They don't require a down payment, so you can just go to their website. The time will be 8:30 am, meeting at a restaurant after taking a taxi, but you'll find all that out on the website. Let me know if you need any more help with this.

We bought our DW passes tonight from the Disney store! Yikes, its really starting to get very real now. I just can't wait to ride the new roller coaster at Animal Kingdom, not to mention just getting to the parks again. Then getting on the ship, yahoo! :)

It's 2:45!!! is anyone else up??? :sunny:

Well, I guess it's not too sunny right now! But it is realllllly early! :surfweb:

I'm just trying to pass the time. :hourglass

When you do a ressie for someone else (like the excursions for the teen), do you have to be logged into their name or can you just bring up the overall reservation? I guess I'll soon find out!

I'll check back when I'm all done.

I am doing my reservations as we speak (3:00am). Boy, they don't make this easy do they. We have brunch on Monday at 11. Also doing a few massages while at sea as well.

Susan

I'm done! It's about 12:25 here in Las Vegas. We got brunch on Monday at 10:30 and dinner at Palo on Tuesday at 8:30. We are going to parasail on CC on Sunday and the banana boat on Friday. Had a bit of a scare with my computer. I was working on my lap top. Got to the Palo reservation page, but it would 't let me hit the continue button. Had to go into my office. Thankfully everything worked out on that computer. I was about to have a cow. This has truly been a crazy night!

Hope everyone gets what they want! Sweet dreams!

Sujo - I couldn't get the 11:00 brunch. Only 10:30 showed up after I went to my other computer.

I'm soooooo mad. I can not get anything to come up with palo brunch. After I click on Mon. brunch, it doesn't do anything. I've tried to update. I've tried to continue. help! Any hints!!!

I did get Andrew's wild side for mon.

Whew! I reserved the excursions I wanted. I tried to get a bruch, but couldn't get it to continue. We had decided not to go , but I had thought I might get a brunch ressie just in case. Oh well! Back to bed!

Wow I just went to check and the only thing that came up was High Tea. Not sure if that means it is all full or that it is the only thing left. I was wondering if it was worth getting up this early to make these reservations and I guess it is if you want to each at Palo's. I also booked a dinner for Thursday Night at 7:30.

Susan

I can't believe how hard they have made their web site registrations :confused3 . You have to pick each one separately. I wanted to sign up for two things at Castaway Cay and you have to select one and book it. And the only way to get the second one is to get back to the page where you select the excursion, Disney Plan web page, and pick the Excursions button and then go to the excursion you want. It is a lot of work. :badpc:

I'm still getting all coming up, but I can not get it to continue on anything ARGHHHH!

I'm with you Susan :badpc:

I wish you all the best of luck on this. I am finished so it is time to return to bed (almost 4am here on the east coast). I did find that it was easier (if you can call this easy) to use their web site when I was doing it with IE rather than Netscape. Now I can just worry about what to pack :bitelip:

Susan

I must be the only fool up! The entire system is down on the site. I can not even log in and retrieve my reservation. I e-mailed a not so nice note. I'll be doing it again now.

so for those who had trouble, check back sometime this morning and you may be able to get back in.

I think the reason they only let you book one excursion at a time is that their system monitors each person and what is booked so that you don't overlap time. If you book an excursion for someone who has a conflict, that person will be shaded out and you won't be able to select him/her.

Hopefully you can get the reservations you need sometime today or by calling in tomorrow!
