06/08/08 Magic And Mickey To Mexico!!!

That reminds me, I'm going to need to pin Jay down as to whether he's staying for Disneyland after the cruise or not. I need to be making those plane reservations. I should be able to get the one-way tix back for about $70 max.
MUCH better than AZ to FL !!!!!

sigh, I checked a few weeks ago - Right now about $500. I think I'll keep watching the fares.

Do you think DCL will consider bringing the ships to Houston?

I'd go for that, also. Not a bad flight for us to Houston. :thumbsup2
I could think of some awesome itineraries to do from there.

Hope you all are having a GREAT Thursday... :thumbsup2 We are dying out here...we are in the middle of our :cool2: 'end of summre heat wave' This is our 6th day in a row of 100+ degree temps...Yesterday was the worst... 108 uuggggg it kills me.. :sad2: :sad2: Hope you all are fairing much better/cooler. big :grouphug: to you all. :goodvibes

The 3 minutes of rain we had last night brought us a bit of a cold wave....it was only 106° today!! :rotfl:

We are back down into the 90's here. Can't wait until that is the 80's. Tomorrow night is the first football game and I know it is going to be miserably hot for those poor kids on the field.

party: Hope you all are having a great day, and have some relaxing plans for this 3 day holiday. :jumping1: Not sure what we are going to do yet, other then take all the kids and our selves down to apply for our passports. :goodvibes Just makes the :sail: cruise feel that much closer :thumbsup2 Big :grouphug: to you all.

:goodvibes Hello is anyone home? It has been almost 3 weeks sense the last post...and it was made by yours truly :lmao:

:flower3: So how is everyone doing? Time has been crazy :dance3: sense the kids started back to school, and DH is traveling again... He leaves on Super early Monday mornings and doesn't get back till VERY late Friday/Early Saturday mornings...and this will be till the second week of JANUARY. :faint: So being a full time Mom AND Dad is wearing me down...

And :sad1: sadly last weekend my adorable  baby [14 year old kitty] collapsed...I rushed him to the vet and found out he was FILLED with cancer  and I had to put him down... :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I was with him till his very last breath  my baby... I am in tears just typing this post... I got him when he was 3 weeks old...his mamma shunned him and I bottle fed him every two hours... .... anyway.

I hope you all are having a great week...and have an even better weekend. popcorn:: Hugs :grouphug: to you all.

Rebecca, I'm so sorry. I had to do the same with my sweet kitty a few years back...she was also 14....I know how much that hurts your heart. :flower3:

No excuse for me in being away....except a little thing like surgery. Spent the last couple weeks preparing...had my surgery on Monday, and am just now returning to the living.
It was on my foot and leg, and I won't be able to walk on it for probably 3 more weeks...not fun. But it doesn't hurt too much, so I'm grateful for that.

 Thank you for your kind words/thoughts about my kitty... and I'm so sorry to hear about your surgery.. What kind was it, and if its not to personal what was it for? I hope you are feeling better and are up and about soon. Here is a hug from my family to you. :grouphug: Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks, Rebecca!

I have Plantar Fascitis in both feet...an extreme case that hasn't responded to all the traditional treatments over the years. The pain had become unbearable.

So we had surgery on the left foot first, and will (if I can gather the strength and courage!) do the right one eventually.

The doctor made an incision near my heel, went in and removed the bone spur protruding from the bottom of my heel, removed the damaged portion of the ligament in my foot, and then cut it to loosen it and allow it to stretch, then drilled 3 hole in the bone under my heel.
Then he made an incision in my calf, and cut the calf muscle to loosen that. Apparently, the calf muscle, if it's too tight, will pull on the Achilles, which pulls at the plantar fascia...under the foot.

I'm bandaged from toes to knee for now, will get the bandages off on Monday, when they put a cast on it for 2-3 weeks. This part is all totally non weight-bearing. Then for another 3 weeks I'll have a walking cast/boot.

I can't believe it's only been 6 days. It feels like 6 weeks already.

Luckily, there isn't any true pain. A LOT of discomfort, but not bad pain.

Sorry you asked? It's a long story, I know!

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted anything, but as you all know you are always on my mind!!!!! Has anyone thrown any ideas out for a meet and greet? Anthing for the sailawy party?? Let me know. June will not be hear soon enough!!!:hippie:

We haven't talked about it yet...there are so few of us so far. We WILL definitely have to all meet at sailaway though...usually we do it on Deck 10...above the Goofy Pool.

:goodvibes :goodvibes Happy Monday all. Hope you all had an awesome weekend. We did a lot of family stuff, and DH took us all out to lunch, and shopping, my two favorite things ;) Sunday was church... DH and I are in our church's worship arts ministry...which includes all the bands, choir, drama team [which we are both in] and sound & tech people...about 200 folks in all and I had a 5 minute skit with another lady... for 3 out of our 6 morning services...so I had a long day.. came home did some cleaning NOT one of my favorite things :lmao: went grocery shopping and helped the kids with their homework... Our kids attend a private Christian school, and one of the un-typical things is homework over the weekends. Sometimes it can be a pain in the booty. :rotfl:

This week is pretty slow...but now of course that I typed those words the flood gates will open up :rotfl2: Have a great week all. Big :grouphug:

I just wanted to introduce myself. Me and several of my family members will be joining you all on the 6/8/08 MR cruise. My parents just celebrated their 40th anniversary on Sept 9th, so my brother and I decided this cruise would make a good present for them. I will also be celebrating my 40th birthday on the ship, it is June 9th.

Here is a list of who is going:

Me, DH Mike, DD Breanna 12 (at time of cruise)
Brother Don, SIL Elizabeth, Nieces Addison 5 and Audrey 4
Mom Darleen and Dad Don

All of us, except my two nieces have been on a cruise before, but not with DCL. We are looking forward to it.

Have a great day!
Lorie

Me, DH, DD who will be one month shy of 12, other DD who will be 9 and twin DS who will be 7, and DUncle for that extra pair of eyes, and ears. :thumbsup2 DH and myself have been on 5 other cruises including one Disney, and both DD's have been on three cruises including the one Disney and both sons and uncle have NEVER been on one yet...they will be thrilled. None of our kids know we are going... Our girls think we are just going to Disney Land...which we are for three days prior to sailing. :yay: :yay: We will not tell any of them till we pull up to the pier. DUncle of course knows..and is getting more and more excited as the day goes on. :thumbsup2 In fact I just bought/gave him the new passporters field guide today. :cool2:

I hope to get to know you more...Have an awesome Monday. :woohoo:

Lots of reasons to celebrate. Should be fun.

I can see why you are taking the uncle, you have your hands full. I bet there is never a dull moment in you your household. I read through all of the other post on this thread yesterday. There is not a lot of traffic on this thread yet, but it seems like several of the people who posted have kids in the 11-12 year old range. That's great, my daughter should be able to find someone to hang out with.

I love pulling these kind of surprises on my daughter. We did that for her first trip to WDW several years ago. But we could not pull it off this time. We started planning a cruise for my parents anniversary a couple of years ago. The first plan was to actually go towards the end of Summer 2007, since that was closer to their anniversary and we were going to go to Alaska. I was supposed to do the planning, but my SIL was being kind of negative about going to Alaska, so I dragged my feet. Then my brother changed jobs and could not go this year any way, because of vacation time. I finally started pulling stuff together and got some quotes on Alaska and we all had agreed on dates, but I could tell my SIL was still not thrilled with the idea. She wanted to go some where warm and I was refusing to go to the Caribbean again. Then just when I was getting ready to book the Alaska cruise, my daughter saw in a magazine that Disney was doing the MR. I had been wanting to do a Disney cruise, but had written them off because of the Carribean, so I called the family, it made everyone happy and I booked the next day. So, since my daughter found the information, it was kind of hard to surprise her with the cruise.

:In fact I just bought/gave him the new passporters field guide today.

What is passporters? Is it a guide to the cruise or the area or what?

I also have questions about the theme dinner. My daughter is busy planning out her clothes. Do most people dress up for the pirate theme night or not? My daughter probably will and I would kind of like to, but I have to convince my husband. Since there are a lot of good pirate costumes available for halloween right now, I thought this would be a great time to get something. But I do not want to waste my money if not many people dress up.

Thank you for putting up with my questions. I am sure I am going to have a lot more before June gets here.

Have a great day!
Lorie

The passporters is THE BEST :thumbsup2 book IMHO it literally goes through step by step by step for the cruise...including reviews, tons of photos, secrets and such... it also breaks down all the excursions, each room category, etc.. I get mine at Barnes and Nobles, but most folks order them online.. Their web site is w w w passporters . com And ask as many questions as you have... the more the merrier. ;)

We actually kept the last Disney cruise a secret from our kids as well, but two days before the figured it out... They are BEGGING to go again, and have said 'mom are you sure your not just saying we are going to Disney Land but we really are going on a Disney Cruise?' The only thing that might help us keep the secret :rolleyes1 is that they don't know the ship will be here on the west coast, and we told them that this next summer is Disney Land and then the following summer is a Disney Cruise. Not sure if they are buying it or not :rotfl2: they found the DCL stuff I gave their uncle. And asked him about it.. ;)

I haven't really discussed it, but to be honest we are really concerned about taking the boys... We have yet to take them on any type of real vacation. I won't bore you all, so I won't go into much detail, but our boys are adopted foster drug babies,,,and they have some special issues...EXTREME ADHD..., social/mental/academic issues being a few of them. Which is one of the reasons we won't tell them till the day before, they just could not emotionally handle it. We are just hopping we won't end up having to spend the whole time in the cabin which is one of the main reasons we are paying/bringing Uncle along, they respond really well to him. But positive :thumbsup2 thoughts all will go well... and besides even if we end up in the cabin, I couldn't think of two greater kids to be with

Well, enough about me..:rotfl: Hope you all have a great Tuesday. Big

:hyper2: :hyper2: :hyper2: :hyper2: :hyper2: Just a friendly 'bump' Have a great evening all. :hyper2: :hyper2: :hyper2: :hyper2: :hyper2:

Qucik question... Does anyone have any idea why there are so few of us sailing on June 8th?? I have been doing some research and do you think "June Gloom" has something to do with it?
