04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Received luggage tags today! Now we just need documents for Alaska since we will not need luggage tags:thumbsup2 Less then 30 days out now... FE gifts are done, packing is almost complete don't want to freak out dog by pulling out the suit cases...

Nothing here in Ontario Canada yet. More often than not we get our Disney mail after we get home  When we did the Panama in January we never did get anything :confused3 This time my TA phoned Disney yesterday and was told that our repo documents had been printed and mailed on Monday to her and that our Alaska documents were being printed at the end of this week and being sent directly to us :confused3 Even the TA cannot figure out their system??

Where abouts in Ontario are you? We are in the Hamilton area and received our Repo documents by FedEx on Monday and today FedEx delivered our Alaskan documents.

San Pedro and there is NO WHERE close to drop a rental. Budget has an office in a hotel nearby, if you search on Budget in this thread you might find the information. The cruise port area is not anywhere near as passenger friendly as PC.

There's an Enterprise on West 6th in San Pedro and from what I understand, they offer a (free?) shuttle to the cruise ship terminal. We're doing a one-way rental from LAX to the port and then taking the shuttle to the port (since we want to do some shopping before we head to DLR a couple of days before the cruise).

:cool1::cool1: Doc Dance for us here. :cool1::cool1:

Don't hold your breath on the pins or other limited stuff going smoothly. The only time it works well, i.e. using the RSP system, is when WDW Special Events is involved. Special Events has to be invited to help out and it costs DCL $ to do that as they're all different divisions within the Company. We know several of the senior folks in Special Events and asked during the Dream MV if they were going to be involved with Alaska, they weren't sure but didn't think so. Otherwise DCL mechandise does it themselves and they just don't seem to want to learn how to due it well. We were on the 1st Panama voyage when folks slept in the atrium, on the 3rd Panama there was a reservation list in each cabin that made the process effortless. Then recently it was back to sleeping in the atrium, short institutional memory. :confused3

Hopefully, someone will remember the reservation list idea.

You have to call Enterprise directly to book a one-way to San Pedro, it can't be booked on-line. There is also a one-way drop off fee. Also, make sure they book the San Pedro location on west 6th. They have a couple of other locations on the other side of the port area, but further away.

We are in Kingston, the Alaska documents came today by FedEx but no repo yet.

This is sooo SAD to read! :sad2: Although Disney says they want to fix the system, they don't do it and make the same mistake over and over. We love to get special pins but not at the expense of valuable cruising time. Standing in line when you can do other activities could be avoided by allowing folks to pre order. Good grief. They've had 5 years to fix things. The first PC Westbound had folks sleeping on the floor in line all the way back to Parrot Cay.
I was lucky on that cruise...I was at the promanade (spelling?) lounge...that was wild - fist fights and all!

Cayla I would love to pin trade... but at this stage I can't afford the luggage weight that my traders would require. :rotfl:Or the extra suitcase.... :lmao:I don't have any Pooh anyway.. I've tried to limit my collecting now to mostly Sorcerer Mickey, DCL pins and Evil Queen. Hello, my name is Leslie and I am a recovering Pin Addict..... :scared1:

I think maybe someone should design a 12 step program....not!

Hopefully, someone will remember the reservation list idea.

Bob - you are TOO funny.....Disney - the king of left hand/right hand issues....

MICKEY MAIL! We got Mickey Mail!:banana::banana::banana: Our docs finally made it today - now I feel Legit! :rotfl2: I love the Sprial bound ticket book - classy!

My FE gifts are almost ready to wrap - waiting for one more thing to arrive! I made a door magnet - not my best work, but in the interest of time, it will have to do! I am planning to run by Home Depot for some Mickey Heads, so it will be a little more festive. I looked for magnet paper today and didn't find it, so I guess my door number will be bare. I only had this week to get things done - then I am running until we leave!

I laid out clothes and shoes and bags for LA and the cruise - lingerie and toiletries to go!!! Now to figure out what Jim has to wear....

I reserved a car at Victoria, after a native posting on my TR - lozzypop informed me that cab fares would be quite expensive for what we want to see that day. We really only have about 3 1/2 hrs by the time we get off the ship. It will be a really quick day!

One month from today, alot of us will be at DLR!!!:woohoo:

/
so I've been looking at my pictures from my trip to San Francisco in November 2009, can't wait to go back. This time doing Alacatraz, didn't get to do it last time and also hopefully getting to Japantown for Sushi(if you like Sushi or stuff try it, now I've grown up loving it and get some good stuff here in NJ, but San Francisco is hands down amazing) and trying a brew pub around San Francisco area.

Being that this is a "special" cruise, will there be a RSP? This is our first cruise that is not a normal itinerary. I hope they'll have special pins and what not for the cruise.

We have found that Disney does not consider Repo cruises "special" or "inaugural" - to them, they are just repositioning cruises - now the First Alaska should be different!

I just noticed while doing my online check in that DCL now requires you to select a port arrival check in time. We will be arriving earlier than the times available online. Does anyone know how strict this is? Our flight into Long Beach arrives at 10:30, so we don't want to have to wander around until 2:30 to be able to come inside at the port - our twins will need to get on board and eat lunch.

No one asked us when entering the port on our last cruise what our "appointment time" was, so I do not think it is an issue there. You may be able to get earlier boarding time if your child needs special care getting on the ship.

We got out docs yesterday! Nothing for Alaska cruise yet, but as Steve says, we will not need luggage tags for that one, and we have checked in on line.

Groetjes! what part of Netherlands are you from? I'm Canadian and I lived in Soerendonk, NB for one year as an exchange student. It was definitely a great experience for me and back then I learned enough Dutch to talk (my host mom and host grandmother did not speak English). now "mijn nederlands zijn niet goed!"

congratulations!

:thumbsup2 Live in a town near Rotterdam.
I was an exchange student as well, lived in Missouri at that time

Still no Mickey Mail with Cruise Docs yet <sigh>. But...we did book a pre cruise trip to WDW the week before the cruise to watch the shuttle launch! We're heading to WDW April 19th, so that we can head out to Cape Canaveral to watch the shuttle launch (hopefully it'll launch that week!) then it's to WDW until the 22nd, home to work until we leave for LAX on the 26th!

Doing the DOC DANCE in NJ!

party:

Actually, our TA has them, but she will give them to me tomorrow

Bob

I can confirm this (my DH booked it so had to talk to him). You have to call to book it and the one way drop off fee from LAX is $40. Since we want the car for more than one day, it made sense for us to pay the one-way drop-off fee, but I know for some people the fee doesn't make sense.

Well, after much phone and emailing with DTD people here's where we stand.

To do a "party" meet and greet everyone wants a deposit and guaranteed spend. I wanted to try and just reserve tables for a party of 20 but no one wants to set aside that kind of space.

So, we wanted to offer up a Meet up at Uva (round, central bar/dining area outside the DTD entrance to Grand californian) at 7pm Monday evening. We'll get there early and see what kind of tables we can score.

The 7 people that contacted me through PMs I will send messages to. From those it looks like we should be a group of about 20 people. Anyone else is more than welcome to join in.

Once again Monday 7pm at Uva. Look for the lime green baseball caps with Mickey on them.

Hi Everyone

This is the list for free custom lanyards and name badges for everyone
in your cruise group. Please take a close look at your listing and PM
me if I've made a spelling error, left someone off, wrong cruise, or if you are no longer
going on one of these cruises. Please PM me if you would rather have a different
version of your name on the badge (nickname, etc.).

PLEASE REVIEW YOUR LISTING AND PM ME IF IT IS CORRECT!
A * before your listing means your have verified the names and you are good to go - you do not have to respond.

It's very important that I hear from people on the "not confirmed" list.
I don't want to leave anyone out and I want to make sure that the names are correct!
So if you are on the "not confirmed" part of the list, please let me know if the listing is correct.

GETTING YOUR LANYARDS AND NAME BADGES
If your name is on this list (except for those on the "not confirmed" list), I have a name badge and lanyard for you. Please make an effort to pick them up.

Name badges and lanyards will be available at the following locations:

In Los Angeles:
At the terminal - I will get there fairly early - you will have to play "Where's Ken" to find me. It probably won't be to difficult - just ask the people with the special lanyards and name badges.

(I've asked Bob of BobandLee to post a picture of Shari and I to help you in your quest)

On Deck 10 - Starboard side (that's the right side of the ship) - overlooking the Goofy pool from 2:30 to 3:30pm - if it's raining, I will move to the Promenade Lounge.

If we can't connect in these places, you will have to call me in room 6584 and make arrangements for pickup.

I will be giving out two sets of lanyards and name badges in Los Angeles for those doing the B2B!

In Vancouver:
Because I'm on the Repo, I cannot guarantee that I will be in the terminal at Vancouver. Therefore, I will be in the Promenade Lounge from 2:30 to 3:30.

If we can't connect at that time, you will have to call me in room 6584 and make arrangements for pickup.

We will be at DL on mon and tues but have to pick up Holly and Tyler at the aiport at 10 but we may stop by and say Hi :)

I was wondering if anyone was going to the " World of Color" show tues night. We will be trying for the reserved seating resv tomorrow with the picnic. Would love to meet some fellow cruisers there :) Cant believe we leave four weeks from today for LA. Staying on the Queen Mary then over to DL.

Heather
