04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Just found out that our daughter has to have surgery in 2 weeks to put in a GTube. We now have to get permission from the surgeon to book the cruise. Boy...nothing is ever as easy as you want it to be.

Poor baby. I hope everything goes well with her surgery!

If it helps...

Four weeks before my first Disney cruise (same time away from the repo) my daughter had a knee problem positively diagnosed, and it required surgery. She recovered enough to not even need a knee brace for by the time we went on the cruise.

I hope your daughter's recovery is just as fast, if not faster :)

Thanks everyone! We are hoping that after 2 weeks she will be "normal activity" even though not totally healed for 6 weeks.

I hope she will be feeling healthy and happy by the time we sail!

If you decide to stay the night, we will be at the Pan Pacific, which is right there by the pier/Canada Place. (We're staying on night and flying direct from Vancouver to Phoenix the next afternoon.)

.

We are spending the night in Vancouver too, We will be at the Uptown Best Western as it is close to the train station so we can be there at 5:00 am next morning to start our train trip back to Los Angeles.

We're on the train too and flying out of Seattle because of the savings in airfare. But I booked us on the 6:30am train the following morning. I wanted to see the scenery. I was thinking about taking cabs and/or using car service. Maybe car service from the port to our hotel in Vancouver. Unless there will be an abundance of cabs at the port terminal when disembarking. Then taking a cab from the hotel to the Amtrac station the following morning. Once we get to Seattle I thought I might take a cab to the airport to pick up our car rental. We're staying in Seattle for three nights before flying home.

I'm staying the night. Sounds like a party at the Pan Pacific. I'll be there. I can get a cab from my hotel to yours and back again. What's the plans for the evening? Restaurant/Bar? Champagne? or Rosa Regale? hahaha.:cutie:

Count the boys and I in on a party that night in Vancouver or some events during the day.

You're staying in the Lifeboats!!!! I was a gty for the PC crossing in May '08. Lots of us were guaranty only. So we made up tee shirts with a logo on it for the Lifeboat Crew. hahaha!

We have this graphic too as we were part of the Lifeboat Crew! LOL

Lisa, I booked it because Monica got a good price. Then I cancelled it because I remembered that my hotel is not far from the Amtrac station and my train leaves at 6:30am the following morning. I understand that the Pan Pacific is about an hour from the Amtrac station. I decided to visit you all the night before and then leave and go to my hotel to sleep. I think it will work out better this way.

As mentioned before, we will continue the party! Let us know what is up.

Hi!
You left off Henry (DS) for #6609. We are a party of 7 travelling together, but in 2 different cabins. Our friends, Dana, Logan and Alley, are new to DCL. They have been on one Carnival cruise, but I convinced them to come into the light. HaHa!
Thanks!!!
Got it! Thanks! I have it on my roster, but forgot to type him in my response yesterday.

LOVE the Red Onion Story! :rotfl2: Too FUNNY!!!

P.S. Coming into the light is always a good thing! They will love sailing on the Wonder! :goodvibes

We will all be hoping that the excitement of the upcoming cruise will speed her healing up into HIGH GEAR! :goodvibes

Is it bad that I've already gotten out one of our carryon suitcases from storage and have started filling it with stuff to bring (highlighters, flashlight, etc)? Or have I even crossed a line for the Disney fan community? ;)

Gee... I was thinking Is is bad that I havent already gotten out any suitcases to begin packing!!!

Hey everyone...I have been trying to merge the FE lists with the lanyard lists...(for my own reasons) I have some folks with multiple cabins - so which is the correct cabin(s)??

yensidfan listed as three..6062,6067,& 7512...not sure which is correct
CastawayCayFans - I have 6131 & 6609
Coastie And Mate - listed in 7020 & 7520

As I said - I am not a keeper of any lists..just trying to merge the two for both cruises...so any assistance is appreciated!

I'm beginning to get the "time to pack" itch, too! I've got a little pile going of stuff to take and bought a few provisions at Wal-Mart today. I keep reminding myself that I am not going to a third world country where I can't find things I need...I do tend to travel with a complete pharmacy though, lol.

Thanks for the welcome, but I've actually been posting for a couple of months on this thread! :thumbsup2

I have had my suitcases out and started packing when we got back from the last cruise:lmao:

Any guesses what the ship will do Monday night? We are scheduled to leave Victoria at 5:30 so we could easily be in Vancouver before 9. I wonder if we'll dock early or spend the night wandering the Strait of Georgia.

It costs $$$ to dock ... I can't imagine we would dock early (it would cost more $), PLUS, guests generally prefer to be at sea, versus sitting still in a dock. We were on the 2010 E/B Transatlantic cruise, sailing into Barcelona the night before we were supposed to dock. We were there early, to watch a fireworks display. Once the fireworks were over, we left the bay, and went back out to sea. Also, if a ship stays in port longer than originally planned (ie: waiting for guests), the cruise line is charged hefty fees.

OMG ... Once anyone has sailed on DCL, NOBODY will ever go back to Carnival!:wizard:

You might consider asking your airline for a wheelchair ... to lessen the impact on the leg while in the airport(s). In addition, you might want to consider a wheelchair for use on the ship as well. I know DCL has wheelchairs ... not sure about cost.

What's the worst thing you have ever experienced / witnessed on a cruise? Take a look at this thread (another forum). Granted, it is posted under CARNIVAL cruise lines ... but a few other cruise ships are mentioned. I am surprised (well, not really), now many posts there are about people being drunk ... smashed out of their minds. I guess it's because they realized they were on a CARNIVAL cruise ship!

Really? I guess I am somebody then, I cruised DCL in May and Carnival in September last year. I will cruise DCL in April (this cruise) and in November on the Dream. I plan on a 2012 cruise with Princess or Carnival in addition to the Fantasy.
