04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Wow... so late into the game... We are trying to book the repo cruise. We adopted twins last week that have been in our home for the past year (LONG story for any who may be interested). We applied for their expedited passports last week, and if they arrive in time (and if space is still available), we will be booking this cruise! It will just be DH, myself and the twins coming (DSs have school and uncles will be staying with them at home). :thumbsup2

CONGRATULATIONS!!! How wonderful! :cloud9:

Let us know if everything works out... send me a PM with your stateroom, names, dining, city, state (if you'd like) and we will get you on the roster, lanyard lists and FE also if you want to participate.

WELCOME! :goodvibes

I saw this on JetSetter.com recently ... thought I would pass it along ...

At the northern foot of the Golden Gate Bridge in the Marin Headlands, on beautiful grounds of pine and eucalyptus trees, Cavallo Point offers unrivaled views of the sparkling bay and the skyline across it. The former U.S. Army post is a down-to-earth lodging option with serious eco cred. By day, it's the ideal jumping-off point to all kinds of hiking, biking and dining around the Bay Area; by night, guests retire to the distinct rooms - historic or contemporary - each with their own characteristic flair.

We may be on the same train!!! I finally got our tickets yesterday.

Q - How are you planning on getting over to the train station from the ship? Then we have to figure out how to get from the train station in SEA to our hotel. Getting in late at night is not my first choice, but it is what it is. :rotfl2:

We are on that train too!

We are planning to do some sightseeing in Vancouver during the day and then take a taxi from the place where we have our luggage stored at the dock to the train station. I think the luggage place closes at 4 PM. So we'll probably get a cab from there to take us to the train station.

We are staying at the Radisson Hotel Gateway Seattle. I know there is a light rail in Seattle, but by that time we'll probably be pretty tired, so we were just planning to grab a cab at the train station. We have a 7 AM :scared1: flight the next morning from SEA to EWR.

We will see you on the train!!! I guess we will get a cab to the station too! Right now in Seattle we are staying at the Westin. They have a service to take you to the airport. Our flight isn't until 10:55 AM so we will be able to sleep in a little bit ;) But, we won't get into Philadelphia until 11:00 PM that night. :scared1:

Those of you who are on the train are going to have a great time! Several sections of the train route are right next to the water, giving great views of the Strait of Georgia, San Juan Islands, Puget Sound, and Olympic Mountains.

I will be attending an event in Portland in June, and I'll be taking the train because the views and ride are so much nicer than driving.

Although we have to get up early, we'll be back in Newark at 3:22 PM :yay:

Yeah :yay: I love trains so I'm really looking forward to this. I've also heard that crossing the border on the train is the least painful way (on land that is, I'm sure the crossing by the Wonder will be very smooth).

We can't take the train because of our flight time out of Seattle, so I guess that it is the amtrak bus for us. I am getting so excited!!!:cool1:

Finally back on the boards after a long 2 weeks of family stuff...funeral and wedding. I can't wait for the cruise and an opportunity to relax!

My wonderful husband gifted me with a D23 membership! I was wondering if there are any D23 members on the boards and if there are any D23 activites/meetings on the cruises...

For our previous two crusies DCL has done an amazing job pairing my husband and I with tablemates that are similar ages to us (we're in our 20s). I have reading a few posts about linked dining...can someone please explain that to me. We are scheduled for late dining on the Repo cruise, and may be interested in sitting with some DISers if possible.

We are currently a group of 5. We have a table that will seat 8. The reason we like to link reservations is so that we do not wind up at a table alone which happened to us in 2008 Panama Canal. There were 4 of us and we were seated at a table for 8. The couple that will be seated with us are in there late 40's as is my DH. I am mid 40's and my sister is late 20's. If you have interest in being seated with us just send me a pm.

See you soon!

I just noticed the calendar. In 49 days, exactly seven weeks from right now, those of us with first seating will be enjoying dinner while those of you with late dinner can enjoy the first show of the cruise!

Seven weeks will pass very quickly - I can't wait to meet you all!

Oh! I better get online and get those tickets! I've been just coasting along:goodvibes

We are planning to do the same as another poster - store the luggage and then explore - take a cab from the port to the train station.

We are actually jumping off in Stanwood - where my DSIS lives, instead of going all the way to SEA. We'll catch a ride with her into SEA on the 5th.

I'm so excited that we will be in DST so it should be light for just about the whole trip!:yay:

Yikes!:scared1: Somehow 7 weeks sounds much closer than 49 days! That means 6 1/2 weeks until we start our vacay! I have so much to do, and I am so busy with my business right now, too. I'd better get a little more organized or I will be doing the last minute panic!:scared1:

I just want my GTY Stateroom assignment. I'm an overachiever with almost all my FE gifts put together. It would be nice to know where I"m staying.
Please send good vibes & pixie dust my way! :wizard:

I was going to ask if you knew when you could expect your assignment! I've seen some people cancelling out, so you should be coming up by now, I would think. What Cat did you book? Here's some extra PD for ya!

We are GTY 11c, so we can only go up from there. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

We are taking the 5pm train from Vancouver to Stanwood to see my DSIS - very reasonable and it's much cheaper to fly from SEA home after our visit there - here is the link with the route: http://www.amtrakcascades.com/

That will give us a day to tour Vancouver, too! There is a luggage storage facility at the cruise terminal. I can find the link if anyone wants it- I think you have to call them and arrange it ahead of time.

We're on the train too and flying out of Seattle because of the savings in airfare. But I booked us on the 6:30am train the following morning. I wanted to see the scenery. I was thinking about taking cabs and/or using car service. Maybe car service from the port to our hotel in Vancouver. Unless there will be an abundance of cabs at the port terminal when disembarking. Then taking a cab from the hotel to the Amtrac station the following morning. Once we get to Seattle I thought I might take a cab to the airport to pick up our car rental. We're staying in Seattle for three nights before flying home.

If you decide to stay the night, we will be at the Pan Pacific, which is right there by the pier/Canada Place. (We're staying on night and flying direct from Vancouver to Phoenix the next afternoon.)

.

I'm staying the night. Sounds like a party at the Pan Pacific. I'll be there. I can get a cab from my hotel to yours and back again. What's the plans for the evening? Restaurant/Bar? Champagne? or Rosa Regale? hahaha.:cutie:

Really? I booked the next day because I thought it would be dark out overnight and I wouldn't see anything. Who knew!
