04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Any GTYs get a stateroom assignment yet? We're in a 6A GTY and we're dying to know where we'll end up. This will be our first verandah/4th DCL cruise. Looks like there are still several categories above us open, so who knows? Maybe we'll get some pixie dust, though I was kind of hoping for one of the accessible 6A rooms, since the verandahs are so much larger. Another in our party is also in a 6A GTY and hasn't been assigned yet.

I was GTY in August 2009, and I recall getting my stateroom number about seven weeks out. I hate having to say be patient, but you'll know soon enough!

We did the two night last month, also on a GTY and didn't get the room until about a month before. I hope I don't have to wait that long. I'm having enough trouble waiting for April 27th!

When I did the Barcelona-Dover & Baltic B2B our gty rooms weren't posted until 2 weeks before...no biggie.

DL transportation to Port 4/27/11
We are arranging for deluxe motorcoach transportation to transport us (and luggage) to the San Pedro cruise port, on the morning of April 27th. The motorcoach will make ONE stop at a Disneyland hotel (to be determined at a later date, based upon our needs, etc). There is a CHANCE the motorcoach can make an additional stop at one other resort, but this may not be convenient (it will take longer, and cause delays), and there will likely be a $100 charge for the extra stop. Since most of us will be going to Disneyland prior to the cruise, we are likely all staying AT, or very close to Disneyland. Therefore, the thinking is that if we are able to walk to Disneyland, we should be able to get to the bus without issue.

Most of us are seasoned Disney cruisers, and most seem to want to get to the cruise terminal early ... in order to get early boarding. Of course, the later we leave Disneyland, the later we arrive at the cruise terminal. The later we arrive at the terminal, the higher our boarding number, which equates to less time to enjoy the ship. Accordingly, we are tentatively estimating boarding to begin 7:30AM to 7:45AM, with departure at 8:15AM (from the designated Disneyland hotel). In order to board upwards of 50+ guests and their voluminous luggage, we would like to request that those taking the bus be in the designated meeting location (ie: designated hotel lobby), COMPLETE WITH ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR PARTY, AS WELL AS ALL OF YOUR LUGGAGE by 7:15AM to 7:30AM. If 56 people show up at 7:45AM or 8:15AM ... we will NOT be able to leave on time.

I will place a deposit for the bus using my own funds. A reservation deadline of March 30th is being imposed. Please do not wait until March 30th to make your reservation, as there is a chance the bus will fill up in advance of the deadline. Based upon the number of guests who have expressed interest so far, I am estimating a cost of $15 PER PERSON (including children of all ages). If you are agreeable to the estimated time frame for bus departure at one of the Disneyland hotels, you can reserve seats in one of two ways:

1) Send $16 PER SEAT via PayPal to (send PM to me for my PayPal email address, which IS different than my main email address). PayPal will charge me 3% to 4%, plus an additional 30 cents per transaction ... hence, the $16 vs $15 per seat, or,

2) Send $15 per seat via personal check to Donna Long (private message me for a mailing address), for receipt on or before March 23rd.

Regardless of payment method, PLEASE INCLUDE:
a) The number of people in your party
b) The name of the MAIN CONTACT person in your party along with Disboard ID
c) Current telephone number for MAIN CONTACT person (indicate day or night time contact)
d) Email address for MAIN CONTACT person
e) The name of EACH person in your party
f) The name of your California hotel (Grand Californian, Paradise Pier, Marriott, etc)
g) A cell phone number (to call on the morning of April 27th, in case of issues with the bus location).

Your seat will NOT be reserved until payment, and the aforementioned requested information has been received (and funds cleared). If you make payment via PayPal eCheck, your payment can take 2 weeks to clear ... so it is best to use PayPal credit, PayPal debit, PayPal cash, or send personal check.

If, after processing all payments, we find there to be excessive funds, we can process a prorated refund to those who pay via PayPal ... upon conclusion of the Inaugural Alaskan cruise.

So to follow up on my own post earlier, since the Pan Pacific Hotel is fully booked right now I checked the Empress hotel. It's just over $600 for 2 rooms (there's 5 people in my travel group) but you get high tea and tickets to Buchart Gardens included for the $630'ish. Also only 2 people in my group were able to book tea with the Disney excursion for the Adults group and if all 5 had booked that would have been $500 total to just do tea during the cruise. Also Buchart Gardens tickets are $23 a piece and we were going to do that anyway after the cruise, so in the end, we're changing to do tea after the cruise, along with Buchart Gardens and we basically save about $20 and get the hotel rooms for free.

I am new to this thread, we are booked on the Alaska inaugual but decided last night to try and get on the repo too. Still waiting for our TA to confirm but I don't expect there will be a problem. I will try and catch up on the many pages of reading but until then just a quick question.

Are there many excursions booked full yet? I will want to see the Walt Disney museum and Butchart gardens. Thanks

I just looked at the website. Palo has a few dinner openings on the repo, but brunch and tea were fully booked before CC silvers could register.

Regarding excursions, all the Butchart Gardens tours are open - as is the WDFM tour. And several of us are very familiar with both San Francisco and Victoria in case you want advice to try these things on your own.

Thank you so much for the information. It's official, we are booked :banana: This is very exciting since we were on the Panama cruise and brought the Wonder to LA, now we get to complete the journey from LA to our home country (Canada eh!) and then the inaugual Alaska cruise. :cool1:

We are booking a Cat6A, which is what we have on the Alaska portion. We got a guarantee but I am hoping that maybe we will get lucky and have the same cabin so we don't have to move. I should have my confirmation number by this afternoon and will get my excursions booked.

So exciting :yay:

I was just wondering if there is a deadline for the FE list, roster and what not. Our move to Washington state has been put on hold, so we might end up crusing on this cruise! I really hope we get to cruise!

It is my intent to finalize the roster about 40-45 days out. I need to give people time to do their shopping. :)

Ok...so if we this whole thing out by the first week of March we should be okay to be on the fe roster? Thanks! I hope my husband's work decides soon about the move. We really want to cruise on this cruise.

We're 9A GTY and we were assigned our room quite awhile ago (I think November?). However, I'm guessing that this is because we used our DVC points to book and what I've heard, since we didn't actually use cash for the trip, we're the last to get pixie dust. :rolleyes:

As a side note, has everyone received cruise info packages? We haven't received anything in the mail, but I'm wondering if that has to do with us using DVC points as I've heard sometimes the systems get screwed up and we get missed.

Does anyone know if Disney will be offering shuttles to downtown Victoria from the terminal? I believe it's about a mile from downtown to the cruise terminal and usually I'd just walk it, but I'm thinking my pregnant self won't want to be walking quite *that* much! We've been to Victoria before and want to do the Royal BC Museum and some shopping instead of any of Disney excursions (as a side note, the Royal BC Museum really is an awesome museum and worth a visit - but I might be biased since I'm an anthropologist/archaeologist :thumbsup2).

Why yes I believe i can do that with names too. might be a bit limiting on the length of names I can do. I haven't really played with that one too much.
