04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Yes, we are going to do the same. If you didn't see my earlier post, they have luggage storage availability at the port. We are heading in to Stanwood instead of Seattle, I think, to see my DSIS for a couple of days.

Oops, sorry if I missed it! I'm really looking forward to the choo choo, even though it will be dark for a lot of the time. I think I read a post that said crossing the border on the train is a lot less painless than by car or bus. Plus the airfare from Seattle is much cheaper and we can get a direct flight to Newark that gets us in at 3:30 PM :woohoo:

If you get a chance go it is an awesome show unlike anything you will see any where else. A lot of sarcasim and nothing is sacred so be prepared!:rotfl:

Sarcasm? Nothing sacred? Sounds like my kind of show!

You better keep that vest as far away from me as possible....or I might steal it!! :lmao:I have been trying to get my hands on animator's fabric...OR get a dining staff to sell me their uniform right off their back so that I can make neckties or vests----it was a running joke for our entire month-long cruise wiht our head server and serving team that they would slip me their vests and ties or put them in our fish extender LOL----but DCL keeps a very close watch on those uniforms and that fabric hasn't been sold to the public in ages. On our very first DCL cruise every YEARS ago, they were selling a small bolt of that fabric in a silent auction outside the Buena Vista Theater but that was before I had the idea to make us formal wear and to wear Disney ties on the cruises...so I didn't bother to get the fabric (plus if I remember correctly, it sold for what amounted to about $80/yard). Now in retrospect I wish I had gotten it....I would pay a fortune at this point for even just a yard or two of that fabric!:scared1:

I will have to check with Leslie to see if Joe is planning on bringing his vest and bow ties...and if so, I'll tell her she'll also have to have armed guards around Joe!!! LOL

I think we paid $100 for 5 yards of the material...so $20 yard wasn't that bad!!! We were the only ones bidding on it, which surprised me...I think the Animator's Palate dessert plate went for $250...

(Although, I do have to say that for this cruise we should have one of a kind Golden Mickey Tuxedo sets. We had intended to finish making them to bring on our recent Med/WBTA on the Magic....but they got rid of that show and replaced it with Villains Tonight (yuck!:headache:)...so we didn't need the vests & bowties...but I'm pretty sure that we will get Golden Mickeys on these cruises so one of my goals is to get those tuxes finished to bring).

Can't wait to see them!!!!

OK...so on to your initial question...yes we are late dining...so you should get to see our ties. (Another tip I'll give you in case you miss us one night...is that Jason and I shutters photography addicts :thumbsup2....we usually buy the CD or at least a lot of prints...and we take pictures with lots of characters and with every background....so on past cruises I've had many people tell me that they "keep up" with our tie collection by looking for our pictures on the walls in Shutters!:rotfl2:)

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who gets a lot of pictures taken!!!!

I can't wait to meet you guys...you sound like a hoot...LOVED your stories, especially the Princess Aurora "fairy" story!!!!!

Thanks for the info Randall!

So, who is dressing up for pirate night? I bought a costume a couple of yrs ago, but I don't want to wear it if the trend has kind of gone away? pirate:

How about formall night? Jim hates wearing a tux - runs to the room to change immediately after dinner - seems like a waste to rent one - what I saw in 2005 was that alot of guys just wear shirts and ties - anyone seen a trend lately?

The trend has not gone away - We will at least wear Pirate T-shirts, not sure there will be room for full Pirate costumes, and Scott will probably bring his tux as there are a couple of formal nights for the 2 cruises.

I'm thinking with all the layers of clothing I'll be bringing, there won't be much room for special attire. At least no pirate gear for me and certainly no 'gown' for formal night...so you all may be seeing the same sparkly top for formal and semi-formal nights for both legs of the B2B! :lmao:

I need more coffee! I thought it said you had sparkles for both of your legs!:rotfl2::surfweb:

Welcome aboard! If you would like to participate in the free name badges and lanyards, I need the first names of everyone in your group.

Ken

That sounds great, Ken! What exactly does this entail?

Our names are Angus, Jennifer, Owen, Wayne, Doris.

Thanks!

A group of disboarders get together and provide free name badges and custom lanyards designed for the specific cruise to everyone who wants to participate. These name badges not only help identify disboarders but also work great for carry your room key cards.

There is no cost and there is no obligation to wear the name badge or lanyard.

Are you Angus or Jennifer?

Ken

I'm Angus. Thanks for all the hard work!

Okay...so the Royal Wedding is set for April 29 at 11 am in England...which makes it 3 am on the Wonder....Momand I will be watching it along with a few others that have posted they want to see it...since it's at 3 am...I'm not too sure about DCL opening up Diversions and putting it on the big screen but we can ask.

Thank you Renegade! Lots of great tips for us - Where's your office, we'll wave! :wave2:

You are more than welcome - I am in the 1 Market Complex (only 2 towers) - across the street from the Ferry Plaza not to be confused with the Embarcadero's (4 buildings that go inland).

I was able to get the dinner attire information for the Repo and Alaska Cruise. I will be posting this on both threads.

Repo by night
1 - cruise casual
2 - formal (at sea)
3 - cruise casual
4 - pirate night (SFO)
5 - semi-formal (at sea)
6 - cruise casual (YYJ)

I so hope SF is right for Pirate night - that would be awesome to see the fireworks, I hope as I understand they are not doing fireworks in Alaska - is that true?

Update on getting to the WDM. I spoke with a couple of friends who live and/or in San Francisco and the only public transportation to the Persideo where the WDM is located is the bus and you have to change busses. So if you are going on your own a taxi is the way to go. They are always around the pier. My BFF also said we are likely to dock around pier 39 for those of you familiar with the City, however if there is more that one passenger ship in town the alternate location is further away from Fisherman's warf more towards AT&T Park. I have have shared before I am still bumbed that the World Champion San Francisco Giants will be playing in DC. That means I miss then twice once in SF and in DC.

You can also take the Presidio Go-Around Bus to get to the Presidio as well. I know it only runs during the week - so Friday. Otherwise it is a pain to get there unless you have a car or take a taxi - which will run you over $20 if I had to guess. I live down by the ballpark and that is the only reason I have not gotten over to the museum yet.

Even though the giants are not playing you can tour the stadium. Which if I say so is a pretty sweet stadium. I have done the tour, work concessions and gone to numerous games.

#2 On our most recent cruise, we wore our Disney princess tuxed osets which have ties and vests and they are made of a pink satiny fabric with Snow White, Aurora, Belle, and Cinderella on them. We even have matching button-studs with the princess' faces on them. They're quite fancy!! While we had them on we were walking through the hall on Deck 3 with our friend, Kimmy, and a CM (Dave from Australia) when who should we encounter in the hallway? Princess Aurora!! I immediately pointed out our tuxedos to her and asked her to take a picture with us...and she did. And while we were talking to her, she very innocently said, "Those are just beautiful! Where did you get those? Did a fairy make those for you?" And I proudly said, "No, no...I made them myself!".....and then after just a second's thought, I corrected myself, "So, actually, YES....a 'fairy' DID make them for us!!" Kimmy and Jason and Dave and I all started laughing hysterically and Aurora just stood there speechless trying very hard not to laugh and keep her composure. It's one of my favorite memories from that trip....as silly and sassy as it was!! (And....I should say that later in the cruise we saw another CM...a female who told us she was a very good "friend" (and who looked remarkably like her, actually :lmao: ;););) ) of Aurora's who told us that Aurora had "told her the story" about those vests and that she was still laughing about it because it was so funny!)

I was just going to leave did a fairy make them comment, but you told the story so no more inside joke...

We are looking forward to dressing up for the cruise. I love getting the family all dressed up. It'll be interesting to see how the luggage space works out

I hope they do - that would be so fun - we could have a wedding pajama party! Or they could put blankets out on Deck 9 and we could watch it on the" Dive-In!" Maybe they would serve hot chocolate or Hot buttered Rum!

I'll look for your building!
I think that's when the pirate night is scheduled, so hopefully the fireworks will be done! It would be good publicity for DCL:thumbsup2

I love to have a reason to dress up - just not DH. I think I might just wear what I like and let him off the hook. It will still be dressy for him.

I am right there with you with the same sparkly top with black slacks! We can hang out together! DH is thinking about leaving his tux at home to save for room for the layers.

Here it will be a black skirt with several different "sparkly tops".:lmao:

Thanks for the info! I was online for a few hours yesterday trying to see if we should still do this instead of just flying out on the 10th. With all of the extra costs for the train, hotel, shuttles, it's coming in at only $100 less (even with a great fare from SWA from Seattle)

I'm just wondering if I want the headaches of all the details of rushing to set to Seattle... :confused3

I will check your links for luggage. I did see they have storage at Amtrack as well.

Thanks again! :thumbsup2

We will pack our hats and a couple of T shirts for Pirate night. Maybe Joe will rent formal wear for the special nights. We did that on the PC cruise and it really worked out well. For me... different dressy tops and expandable waist slacks! :rotfl2:

You're welcome! I read on one of these threads that Amtrak is a 30 min cab ride away and not really near any touring areas, so it might be a little costly to go back and forth to store luggage. It seems whatever we do, it will be a little challenging, but worth it!
