I should have known some clever DISer would organize something like this.....Jason and I already booked (and paid for) DCL transfers from DL, though :(

What plans, if any, already exist? We've been talking about doing Disneyland Tuesday, but I haven't figured out a hotel or transportation yet.

Hi all ... I was going to post about this as soon as I had a backup plan set. Sorry for backing out on this, but my car is on it's last leg, and I'm pretty sure a new one is in the near future. Thanks to the car, I'm pretty
sure we are going to have to cancel the DL side trip (unless my work bonus comes through, andI won't know that until the end of March.

Donna ... Thank you so much for taking over this. If you could pm me your email address, I can forward the bus info to you! I will also forward you the list of DISer's that had signed up for the bus. Thanks.

Mary Jane

Ack! :confused3

That is the Repo Roster by Room for the FE Exchange. I should come up with a new title.
Let me know if you wish to be added.

Oooops...in that case, don't add me! :rotfl:
(though it was fun to see who my nearest neighbors are!)

Oh sorry don't add us then. We're not participating in the FE.

Just out of curiosity----Jason and I do want to do the fish extender exchange(s)---but are we creating one long roster and doing a full group fish extender exchange? Or once the long roster is set are we being divided up into smaller groups? And is a special roster being created for those of us on the B2B of repo & Alaska portion of the trip? Or will we need to do fish extenders on this leg and then with a separate group on the other leg?

I am only on the Repo Cruise, so I put together a roster for that. It is a bit complicated because there are some Repo Only, some B2B, and some Alaska only. For what it is worth, I never kept track of who gave the best FE gift (well... maybe the bottle of Rum). I think the spirit of the Fish Extender exchange is just to pass good cheer, not go broke. On my last cruise there was a door with an FE, but nobody knew who they were as they were not on any sort of roster. I felt badly I hadn't brought extra gift bags, so I will bring a few extras this time.
Happy New Year!

Oh...don't get me wrong...I'm a huge fan of the not overly organized fish extender gift giving where people just go around and leave gifts in any fish extender they find....and maybe don't even sign them so you know who they're from....that's how I originally experienced the fish extenders on our first TA cruise back in '07 (with Deb----the initiator of all things fish extending LOL).....since then, however, I've noticed other cruise groups get a great deal more complex and organized about it...so i was just trying to place where we were....am I making 100 little things? Or 15 somewhat nicer things? And am I doing it on the repo or the Alaskan or both? LOL

:goodvibesHi Hillaryone! We are Ron and Karen from Big Island Hawaii and we want to do the FE too. Please add us to the roster cabin 7520. Looking forward to meeting you! ALOHA:hug:

We too have booked and paid for DCL transfers. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel, where are you guys staying?

We are also arriving on 4/22....I think there are going to be quite a few Repo cruisers at DL over Easter....we can't wait....of course planning things at DL is soooo different than WDW....since everything can't be booked until 60 days prior....

we are flying to LAX on Easter and staying in a Sheraton hotel, DL hotels were too expensive for us, but the hotel we are staying out is close and we stayed there back in 2008 and not a far walk, so it's good and we got transfers from one of the disney hotels:goodvibes

If I may ask....what are you booking in advance? The only thing we're booking at this point (or having booked for us, rather, since we're not allowed to book it ourselves) is that some friends are booking us Easter dinner at Club 33....but we weren't going to book anything else out there, I don't think. The last time we went to DL (which was, admittedly, about 3.5 years ago), we were entirely unimpressed with the dining so we weren't sure if it was worth it to try to get advanced ressies for meals or anything. Do folks who are more familiar with DL have any recommendations or tips? Are there other things we shoudl be booking? (Like do they have a way at DL yet to get good seats for Fanstasmic so you're not sitting on the cold concrete ground for 2 hours before....god we hated that last time). We are going to have several days there, obviously and we definitely want to experience anything/everything that's pretty new....but if people know of good restaurants to eat in or things we can reserve to secure priority seating at shows, etc. we'd love those tips!

Erik (& Jason)....could you smuggle me in to Club 33 with you??? LOL (only kidding) It is one thing on my bucket list that I hope someday I can cross off...please take tons of pictures so I can see what it is really like....

The things I want to book are some tours at Disneyland and I was also thinking of the Easter Sunday brunch at the Disneyland Hotel....I was told it books quite quickly so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

P.S. I just realized that this trip will allow me to cross several things off my bucket list....stay at the Disneyland Hotel (just have Paradise Pier left at Disneyland), visit Alcatraz, see the Golden Gate Bridge in person (not just on Soarin'), ride a cable car in San Francisco (hopefully), visit the Buchart Gardens in Victoria (hopefully), and of course, go on an Alaskan cruise.

Erik, we have been to DL more than WDW. I had heard there were options for Fantasmic - here's something about a dessert option:

Fantasmic! is free with park admission, but Disney does offer a Fantasmic! Dessert experience, which includes a reserved seat and a selection of desserts, for $59.00 (plus tax) per person. The reserved seating area is located on one of the terraced areas in front of the French Market. This area seats about 50 people in 3 rows of chairs. Guests receive a box containing a selection of dessert items, such as cookies, cupcakes, cheese and crackers and fruit, as well as their choice of beverage - sodas, coffee, or hot chocolate. The seats are excellent - located in front of one of the water screens, with a good view of the stage on the island. Those seated in the back row might want to stand in order to see over the people in front of them. Seating can be reserved 30 days in advance by calling 714-781-4400 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting**************714-781-4400******end_of_the_skype_highlighting beginning at 8 a.m. PST. A credit card is required and will be charged at time of booking. The tickets are non-refundable nor may they be exchanged for a different date or time.

Also the bigger than biggest news is the World of Color show at CA. From what I've read, it is almost impossible to get a seat without a FP. But, you can book a dinner package with VIP seating at the Trattoria. http://land.allears.net/blogs/debwills/2010/06/world_of_color_dining_package.html The food there is pretty good, but you do seem to need a reservation, and they can be a little snotty about that.

I had also read that guests of GC, which I think would include VGC, can have a balcony view of WOC somewhere.

As for restaurants, the parks are definitely lacking - I think it is because there are so many close venues around.

There is a new Gardenwalk area adjacent to CA, which has a Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs and I don't remember what else.

If you walk South on S Harbor Blvd from CA for 2 blocks, you will find Joe's Crab Shack, which is always fun, and you pass a few other good places on the way, just can't remember them right now. Oh, one was a Morton's Steakhouse.

If you go on the other side of DL, on S Harbor, we love Mimi's Cafe for comfort food and a relaxed atmosphere, and Tony Roma's is over there somewhere.

We enjoyed our meal at Storyteller's in GC, and I've read that Napa Rose has won lots of awards if you want fine dining.

At CA, for QS we love the Mexican food at Cocina Cucamonga and the sandwiches at Taste Pilot's Grill.

In DTD, La Brea bakery is awesome!:thumbsup2

Hope this gives you a few ideas, and welcome to the West!

That is very helpful! $59 is pricey for dessert....but we do love Fantasmic....and I absolutely HATED the seating arrangements last time we were there (I'm so spoiled by the Hollywood Hills Ampitheater at WDW)....so maybe I can convince my hubby, Jason, to splurge for the seats (the alternative, of course, is to listen to me whine for hours about how uncomfortable my butt is from sitting on the cement ground :lmao:).

That's great info about the Trattoria and the World of Color. We ate there last time and were entirely underwhelmed by the food (again spoiled by WDW food), but I would absolutely eat there again and pay extra if it meant the ability to get good seats at World of Color. We will research that asap....and talk to our friends who are staying at DL (in their own Villa) with us to see if they want to join us.

Erik, the WofC dinner package is also availble with dining at Arial's which has a pretty tasty tri-tip...at least that's what my friend tells me and she's done it (WofC dinner package) several times.

For DTD, the Jazz Kitchen http://www.rbjazzkitchen.com/ and Catal are both good. :thumbsup2

And one of the best kept secrets (hardly a secret with the DISboards, eh?) is the 'counter service' White Water Snacks at the Grand Californian.
