04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

I had to go th the 3rd page to find this thread!:scared1: When is our final payment due? I'm planning ahead!!!

Hi Gydell

We just received our one page info sheet from DCL about the important dates for this cruise. Final payment is due to DCL on Feb. 11, 2011.

Happy Hump Day!

Nice day in my little area of So Cal today. I can't comment on the rest of the State.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Ken P.

Ken, I woke up to snow this morning, but it is really nice this afternoon, and should be up to nearly 70 by Saturday!

Hi all!

Lynn, we hit 84 here today and it's going down to 70 by Saturday. Some crazy weather we've been having this year!

Have a great weekend everyone!

We are off to DL on Sunday. Rain in the forecast.

Ken...have fun at DL on Sunday...I'm sure Shari is having Disney Park withdrawal by now!!! LOL

Have a great time at DL! I keep trying to convince Jim I need a Disney fix, but he made a bet with someone at work that we won't do Disney in 2010.:sad2:

I made the same bet with my daughter. Last trip was August 2009, next trip is Jan 2011.

Today I threatened to call my SIL in Bakersfield and see if she wants to take my nephews to DL with me. He reminded me we are going to DL before our cruise in a year - he is sure I can wait that long.

Hi Everyone

Disneyland was fun - as always - but crowded. Cloudy all day, but it didn't rain until the trip home. :)

Please don't tell Mickey but Mom and I (& two unnamed persons :rolleyes1) are cheating on Mickey....we needed a "Dream" fix...so we are cruising on the Carnival Dream May 1 -8. Not sure what a cruise without Mickey will be like but the price was too good to pass up.

DH & I did a Carnival cruise last month. Like you, price was right, and it was a good option to try it without kids. We were on the Elation, not the Dream
I recommend you go into it expecting it to be different and to be LESS.
It costs less, and in some areas things just are less.
I still had fun, and feel I got my money's worth.
It just reinforced why I pay more when I go on Disney :goodvibes

I did think the photographers were better on Carnival.
The dinners were equivalent to Disney. Our servers were great. It was odd not being able to order drinks from the servers, they had to send a bar server over for drinks, but after the first meal, the bar server would automatically come over.
Buffets were okay, really noticed less fresh fruit than on Disney.
The shows were not as magical, much more Vegas style.
Disney's deck party was far superior.

Thanks for the info Shannon...yes...we had to promise one of the unnamed persons that we would not spend the entire cruise comparing it to Disney. I am excited to go on the Dream - it is a new ship and since we have only cruised DCL, I wanted to be able to compare DCL to another cruise line and justify why we pay more to cruise with Mickey. I know I am going to miss the Deck 9 Drink Station!!!!

Speaking of the Deck 9 drink station (which I really missed): If you are a pop drinker, on the first or second day of your cruise you can buy an all you can drink pop thing. They just stick a CocaCola sticker on your room card. If you want more than 3 pop a day, its cheaper that way. You aren't officially allowed to share, so you can't order 2 at once. DH & I shared mine though as we would either share one drink, or if I wanted an alcoholic drink and he wanted a pop, I'd just order both and they never questioned it.

Have fun, and enjoy the differences :)

I did read about the unlimited soda card and will be getting one...I have to have my Diet Coke!!!!

Good Morning All. :goodvibes It's an early Spring here in NJ. Warm weather has opened the lilacs and doawood blossoms early. They are beautiful.

I've updated the first page of our thread with various links based upon the great information you've all been posting. The totals, numbers, etc. are also updated.

It's been a long winter filled with SNOW and various other activities for our household, and I've been away from the boards for a while.

GEJO UPDATE: Joe and I will be taking an early getaway cruise in 2 weeks on the Disney WONDER, and will check out the ongoing changes to Castaway Cay. It will feel good to escape for a while plus earn our Platinum status for the Castaway Club. :woohoo:

To those who will be "Dreaming" a bit early... Have Fun! Wish we were joining you. You will be in our thoughts. :cloud9:

Muahhhh ha ha ha I'm Baaaaack! :maleficen
My FB friends know what I've been up to recently... TAXES!!! :scared1:

So Erin is on maternity leave and that leaves ME free to post to my hearts content. We're going to take a little R & R cruise while she's off before I tackle watching BOTH grand babies!!!
it will be a new and different experience..... that's all I'm saying! :rolleyes1
