04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

On the last two I've booked, Cat 6 seems to sell out early. I think it's because that is the lowest of the verandah categories - desirable.

That explains it. I will keep looking every day for anyone who cancels this cruise and grab that cat 6.

Thanks Tammy.

You are gold only after completing 5, so if the MV gives you 5, you won't get the gold perks till the next one.

If I get the MV, then that will make the LA/Vancouver repo my 5th and the Alaska one my 6th. I was wondering if Disney would know and I would get the invite to the CC Gold reception?

I'm pretty sure they would know since you would have to check out on the repo and check back in for the Alaska. I think it says on your KTTW card what tier you are, just make sure your card is correct when you check in for the Alaska portion and you should be okay for the reception.

Hi everyone! Another day closer to the cruise!!!!

I was really focused on this cruise and the first Alaska until the Dream bookings started. It's going to be a busy 2011!

Can't wait!!!!!

Ken, I think everyone was focused on these cruises until the Dream started booking. Except for the Baltic next year and a few Disney trips, I'm fully focused on this one.

This is it for me, until I see if there will be any incentive to book onboard for 2012.

Hi everyone. I thought I would post this here to peak everyone's interest for this cruise due to the Dream coming available to book. This was posted for the Celebrity Millennium Pacific Coastal cruise for 9/28/09. Their web site should be going down soon so I thought I would post over here for everyone to see.

We are also scheduled to do Celebrity Millennium Pacific Coastal cruise for 9/17/2010 and we will be having a web site for that cruise. I will be copying info over here for you to see to when that comes available.

I hope this info gets everyone excited for this cruise!!!:woohoo:

LA Harbor, San Pedro.

The Port of Los Angeles cruise ship terminal when you walk out of the building with your luggage there is a parking lot with a circular drive where all the busses, taxis and shuttles pick people up. It's 21 miles to LAX and on a Saturday morning traffic is light and it should only take about 30 minutes to get there. Orange County Airport is 40 miles and Long Beach Airport is 16.
The last 2 times we were there we used Prime Time Shuttle. When it's busy they have a dispatcher out on the line keeping things moving along. Prime Time charge $16 per person for a shared van to LAX.

San Francisco..The City by the Bay.

So much to do, so little time! We are lucky to be docking at Pier 35, It's right in the middle of all the action along the waterfront. Pier 39 with all it's attractions, shops and restaurants is less than 300 yards to the right and Fisherman's Wharf is another 400 yards beyond that. Then the Cable Car stop at the end of Hyde street and Ghirardelli Square another block or so further along. If you turn left from the ship in about 350 yards you will come to pier 29 where Teatro Zinzanni is located in a hugh old German tent. Bauer's Limo Service where you can arrange wine tours of Napa Valley or other local wine districts is at Pier 27 another 350 yards in the same direction. The Ferry Building is just over a mile from the ship. You can get there on the F line trolley that runs up and down Embarcadero. Here's a ferry schedule.

If you are patient 511. org will tell you everything you need to know about public transportation in San Francisco. For instance the closest line to our pier is the F trolley. Click on "Transit" at the very top, then on "Bus" on the right side, then "Muni (San Francisco)" below. Scroll down to light rail and when you see "F" do not put an X in the box, click on "Market & Wharves." This brings up an interactive map with all the stops. Our pier is at Bay & Embarcadero. The F line goes all over the place and you can transfer to other lines from there.

If you plan to use the Muni and/or the Cable Cars you should buy a passport. The Muni's not too bad, $2 for adults and .75 for seniors, but the Cable Cars costs $5 every time you get on one. A one day passport costs $11 and is good for unlimited rides on Muni PLUS the Cable Car.

Victoria BC.

Another one of our favorite places. We have stayed here several times over the years. The last couple of times at the Laurel Point Inn. Both the rooms and the cocktail lounge have good views of the inner harbor where the seaplanes take off and land. When we were here on the Radiance last year we rented a car from Budget with another couple to go to Butchart Gardens. Here's a map of how to get there. It's about a 14 mile drive. The Budget office on Douglas street sends a car over to pick you up and drop you off at the ship. The Empress Hotel at the end of the inner harbor is about a mile from the Ogden Point cruise terminal. There are a lot of attractions and fun things to do in Victoria. We should all have a great day here.

Those of you interested in a wine tour could do no better than Travel with Taste. Kathy can take up to 6 people in a private van to the Cowichan Valley (about 40 miles north of Victoria) for a day of wine and cheese tasting at a cost of about $186 per person. There is a three course gourmet lunch included in the price.

Vancouver, BC.

Vancouver is one of our favorite citys. There is so much beauty here. We would spend more time in Vancouver if it just didn't rain so much! Here is a great web cam of Canada Place. Unfortunately the Millennium will be docked at Ballantyne pier a mile or so to the east. Last time we were here was in 08. We stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel ($216 through Hotwire.) and we could see our ship, The Radiance of the Seas, from our window. It was also at Ballantyne Pier. In 07 we stayed at Hyatt Regency ($150 AAA special rate.) and Sailed on The Constellation, again from Ballantyne. Must be a Celebrity/RCL thing.

There are a number of 4 and 5 star hotels in downtown Vancouver. The Hampton Inn on Robson street, the Marriott Pinnacle on West Hastings, the Sheraton on Burrard and Sutton Place also on Burrard. We have never stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront but we understand it is very nice but maybe a little on the expensive side. This year we plan to use Hotwire again and take our chances on which 5 star hotel we get.The Top of Vancouver is a great place for a drink with a view, and right around the corner is the Al Porto. One of our favorite Italian restaurants in Vancouver.

Minibear - thanks for all the great info!

I was just in San Francisco for the start of the Arthritis Ride and I've been under the Golden Gate several times while serving in the Coast Guard, but it will be so much more fun to do it on the Wonder. I'm really looking forward to spending the day (and night) there on the repo. There's nothing like cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge - and doing with lots of friends will make it even more special!!!

I should be more focused on our NCL Hawaii cruise for next year, but once we booked this cruise, I'm way more excited about it - must be that it's DISNEY!

I can't wait to book the Dream!

DCL keeps accurate records of prior sailings. You can check your cruise history on the DCL website.

I would love to be able to attend (in spirit), but I don't think I'm eligible to win the cruise, as I'm Canadian. I know I wasn't eligible last year! :sad1:
