04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Stupid question for everyone...do you ever pack perfume and cologne?

Yes, always. We double back them in ziplock bags to be safe....although I love Cayla's idea of a sock, too, to absorb any spill or anything.

Have we discussed Pirate night? How dressed up is everyone going? We have full costumes but wont bring them if we're the only ones

We're dressing. In fact we have two separate pirate costumes....one for the repo and one for Alaska.

Just found picture of my room, well it's the twin from the Magic, but it looked just like this in January!

and the Totem from the DCL House party, how long ago that was, way before we could book!

I think all our arrangements are finally made! I just did the final thing on my list, made reservations for a shuttle from LAX to our DL area hotel. Only thing left to do is pack, which we plan to do this weekend, then we are off to Boston Friday afternoon to spend the night there before our early Saturday morning flight. Single digits - can't believe its finally almost here!

OMG... my brain is lost from all this last minute planning stuff. Not likely I will have time to put together a pirate costume for Tim and I - we've always dressed up in the past, but not sure where those costumes are currently located. Maybe I can manage to pull something together for my pair of tiny pirate wenches! princess:princess:

Does anyone have a suggestion of where to get inexpensive pirate costume stuff? The local party store that I checked here in Vancouver was really expensive, so I'm hoping there's somewhere near DLR (we have a rental car) that would be a bit more reasonable.

I don't know much about VC, but if you have any Thirft Stores/second hand stores there, you could make you own, that is what we did!!

Hope this helps.

Like we forgot? :lmao:

I'll get that email for my July 2012 cruise. They don't seem to keep as good of track of things as we do.

11 days to packing. Time seems to be dragging.

Try the Dollar Store, they might have something in the toy/party section. we used to dress up but I need all my space since the airlines have reduced our weight limits, so I don't bother. Its fun watching the others though.

Have we discussed Pirate night?
All 8 of our group will be dressed as pirates.
Can't wait. Only 7 more work days.

Question for the folks local to Victoria:

What does one wear to Tea at the Empress? :confused3 I wouldn't want to cause an international incident :rolleyes1

Don't think we'll be bringing our full costumes this time... I'm having a problem fitting the regular stuff in... :sad2: I'm spoiled since we usually don't have to fly to get to the port..... and now I'm limited to 2 50 pound bags for a 3 week trip!! :scared1: Probably just bring a pirate tee shirt.

I have been to the tea and we dressed up a bit, but it really is not that formal. I would avoid jeans and sneakers if you can, but don't worry about it if you can't.

Here is the official word from Fairmont Empress website

"Dress code is casually elegant. Please no ripped jeans, short shorts, cut off pants, beach wear, flip flops or baseball caps."

With the cold spring we've been having in Victoria, I can guarantee you won't be wearing short shorts or flip flops. :rotfl:

As for causing an international incident, while Victoria may *look* like a very British city, we are still Canadians to the core and are relaxed when it comes to dress codes. You will get into more trouble for wearing the wrong hockey jersey than wearing nice jeans at the Empress.

Last Call for Today.

Also, I have little info on the following. They may have cancelled???

ImprovGal
Can anyone help with these? THANKS! :cheer2:

Hi! I'm still going on the cruise and am very much looking forward to it! What further info are you looking for on me? I'm travelling solo so I don't release my cabin #.

Really? It is? We got that and also a legal looking notice telling us to bring our documents and what to pack.:rotfl2:

Formal gown, gloves and tiaras.

That's what I was thinking, but I can't find my gloves ;)

Thank you! Casually elegant it is! You read my mind about the jeans and sneakers, which is what we usually wear on shore tours. I like to dress up a bit.

And I will leave my Devils jersey and Yankees cap at home :lmao:

NJPrincess - I just noticed you are from Somerset NJ, I just spent last weekend there at the Hampton Inn. I go twice a year to the CJDPT weekend there. We always have a blast!

Gloves, I wish I knew where mine were, too, Thank goodness I do have something that will do. Because it is going to be so cold up there, by all reports, I think I have dressier pants and a nice blouse. One thing for sure, no sports jerseys. Maybe I will pick one up while there? 11 more days, 11 counting today. Still dragging.
