A couple of notes...
Not to question DisneyPinDiva (who would dare do that?!) but for public transportation within SF you want a MUNI pass which is the bus, street cars (trains), cable cars (trolleys to the tourists), and the MUNI light rail (below ground and street level). BART is the subway system which wraps 1/2-3/4 around the bay for for the purposes of our cruise--unless your headed to say Berkley or something--you probably don't want BART you want MUNI.
Since we have 18 or so months to plan I'd be glad to answer questions or do some research. Say finding an appropriate bar.
We live on the east coast but visit SF as much as possible. I was there over Labor Day weekend and we'll be there in less than a week again. Haven't booked any weekends for next year yet (Phoenix was super cheap today!).
I will confess that we don't tourist too much...meaning Pier 39 and Ghirardelli are not on our list (not that there's anything wrong with that!). I mean hey Musee Mecanique in at Pier 45 which is in the middle of all that and I love the Musee.
There is so much to see and do...it will be strange just stopping by for a night but at least it's a Friday, woo hoo! I could be out of booze by the time we reach SF...I mean that is like what, day 3?
Time to stock up! Oh and the Farmer's Market is on Saturday...not that we need food on the ship, but it's great!
