03/29/08, March 29, 2008 Eastern Magic - Who else?

I made mine 25in long and 8in wide (finished size)

I am going to copy and paste in some directions I have. But if you want to sew yours I can type you up how I did mine.

On my last cruise there were some people who made theirs with felt and hot glue so do not think you are not crafty or creative.

FISH EXTENDER INSTRUCTIONS

MATERIALS NEEDED:

This is what I am using, yours do not have to look like mine. In fact some of the most unique on our last cruise where made entirely different than mine.

1/3 yard White Duck cloth
1/3 yard Red Duck cloth
1/3 yard Black Duck cloth
1/3 yard Disney material (ours is Mickey on blue checks found at Wal-Mart)
17” of cord
5/8” x 10” dowel rod with holes drilled in each side big enough for cord to go through.
2 packages of canary yellow Wide Double Fold bias tape
Spool of Memosa (I think this is how it is spelled, it is the closest yellow to the bias tape) yellow thread.

DIRECTIONS:

Pieces can be cut any way they best fit on material except diagonally. We do not use patterns. Just measure and cut.

Cut:

1 29” long x 8” wide back piece (ours is white for this one)
1 29” long x 8” wide front back piece (Disney material) (It is easier to cut these two out together so they will be even)
5 pockets 12” wide by 5” long (ours will be rotated, haven’t decided if more black or more red, yet)

How to put together:

1. Trim tops and bottoms (long ends) of 4 pockets with bias tape. Just trim top of 5th pocket.
2 If you did not cut them together put 29” backs together but do not sew.
3. Starting at the bottom of the Disney material place a pin 4 1/2” from the bottom on both
sides and repeat 3 more times.
4. Place bottom of 1st pocket at the top pins and pin top and bottom in place on sides. Material of
pockets will be wider than back.
5. Working with the bottom of the pocket, fold a crease on each side so that it lays flat and then
sew it to the backs.
6. Repeat 3 more times, placing bottom of pocket at the next pins down.
7. The last pocket will be the pocket without the bias tape on the bottom. Pin this pocket in
place on top and bottom, making the creases so that the pocket lies flat.
8. Baste about 3/4” in around the extender.
9. Take bias tape and pin to sides of extender starting at one side and working your way around,
folding the corners at the bottom to the inside. Make sure that material is inside bias fold.
I have found that because of the thickness the small black spring paper clips work better than
actual pins.
10. Sew bias tape to extender putting stitches about 1/4” from inside edge. Remove basting thread.
11. Turn top edge of extender over approximately 1/4” and then again approximately 1 1/2”.
12. Sew to extender back creating a pocket for the dowel rod.
13. Press extender and put dowel rod through pocket.
14. Put cord through holes and tie ends into knots.
15. Enjoy your “Fish” Extender.

If you would like pictures of front and back to work from, email me and I will email them back to you.

I teach mostly Jrs and Srs so I did not get to play the FCAT writing game, but I got to play a better game today. Spend the day teaching Jrs. FCAT science and convincing them to try hard even though they do not need to pass the science like they did math and reading. :cheer2:

Talk about a fun filled Wednesday. :cheer2:

Here is a rough draft so to speak of the sign for our DISGroup. I have the green head so that you can either do it on a computer or with a permanent marker put your name or room nmber on it.

Let me know what improvements you want and I did the best with the slogin. I think it was meshell that gave me the basid slogan idea....but suggestions are welcome.

Okay my husband just pointed out that I forgot to put the sailing date on this one....duh!!! I will do that before the sign is finalized.

Thanks Michelle and Lisa. Yes we have the cruise to look forward too!

The sign looks great! Oooh all that sun! *sigh* My hands are so cold right now I can't wait to get to FL so I can start complaining about the heat! :) We heard about the tornados at Cocoa Beach on the news. Scary!

thanks for the dimensions and instructions - yes, I will be doing this without a sewing machine, so hopefully it stays together :upsidedow

Okay, I am bumping us back up

So how are everyone's cruise plans coming? What is everyone upto for the weekend? We went to SeaWorld during the day and dinner at the Fort Wilderness Campground. We are planning on some Disney Shopping tomorrow.

My parents are excited because their passports came in just under two weeks so now they are ready to sail.

Hope all is well

:wave2: Fellow Dis Mates-
I am not a part of your cruise thread and not trying to HiJack it, (cruising a month before you actually). Have not even taken the time to read any of your thread as that is between you and your DIS Cruise Family. I just wanted to ask you guys to be good to laurencam. She is a friend of mine whom I showed the boards to and now she is an official DISer... :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: She will soon be an addict too.....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You take care of her on the cruise and I will keep a chair for her at the ADDICT support group..... Have fun and enjoy your cruise..... D..... if you need anything from me, just ask. I also wanted to make it easy to PM me through the boards if you need anything.... We will keep the beds warm for ALL you DIS guys..... Once we get back in a few weeks, AnY of you can PM me with any questions. This is our 4th cruise and I am interested in seeing how the character breakfast has changed as well as the CC reception. I heard it is more like a breakfast pastries thing now.:sad1: HAve fun and happy posting.... Our cruise meets thread is up to 115 Pages, you guys better get posting.....:hippie:

Have any of you done the wine package ( I think it is $159 for the cruise)? Any one who did, was it worth it? We are sailing with my father and his wife, so there will be 4 adults sharing it. Was the wine any good? Was it cheaper to do it that way? DId you get a bottle a night for dinner? Any info, thoughts would be appreciated - thanks

yes, atinkerbellmom got me hooked on the dis boards, and all of you have been great to me - and so helpful with all my questions. It has put me at ease in regards to a lot of the unknown, so thank you! We are very excited - this has been a long, cold winter up here! :upsidedow
So, thanks again folks for welcoming me with open arms and for all your responses! Keep them coming!;)
Dana

We are not wine drinkers so we have never done the package. We sat with someone who did. They liked it and they were able to take the infinished bottle with them after dinner.

Sorry cannot help you on this one.

Hi everyone!!

We just got back from a weekend at WDW!! :thumbsup2 It was great!! The weather cooperated, the crowds cooperated, we were able to spend time w/ Michelle and her family yesterday (Thanks Michelle!! :thumbsup2)and we received "dream" fastpasses at AK today!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!! :wizard:

Lisa

Truthfully we would have enjoyed them even more, if we had not already taken advantage of the early hour and done most of the big rides, but they were a nice perk.

Chuck:cool1:

Just wanted to share the happy news. She's due in August.

Know what Fastpasses are and what dreams are but....not the two together. Please enlighten me. :confused3

A dreamfastpass are those cards that you will see around peoples necks. They are light blue and say dreamfastpass.

They have little "tickets" on them for all the major rides at that particular park and they are fastpass for the ride.

The pass is good only for that day and only in that park.

Does that clarify for you?

And congrats on becoming a granddaughter.
