03/29/08, March 29, 2008 Eastern Magic - Who else?

OK, another question - when is Pirate night? It used to be Tuesday, right?

If it is on Wednesday, we are going to have to change our Palo ressies as that is one night we'll want to spend with the kids......

Does anyone know if it is possible to and how to make dining room server requests?

Yes, call the DCL number adn request your server. You can also go to Rockin' Bar D when you board. In October they told us that you have a better chance of getting your request if you call prior to the sailing. Since a lot of it is set once you get on board and harder to move the servers

Also, we are trying to assess this dining rotation change to see if we need to change our Palo day. For us, Palo meets our needs: Wednesday night. We've guaranteed one night in each dining room. We also are guaranteed seeing the AP light show. We make formal and semiformal night with our kids.

We are in the same postion. We have Palo on Wednesday night as of now. We would prefer to be in the main dining for Semi, Formal, and the last night. That means we would need to miss one of the shows in the firs restuarant possibly.

Does anyone know ramifications of this switch? Is any single rotation (of the new rotation) bad for any reason? I suppose that ideally, you get formal night in Lumierres, Pirate night in Parrots Cay - again, this is pretty picky but, just wondering if anyone has done the "new dining rotation analyis"....
My husband did an analysis based on the rotation he was told they would have that week. It is different that what is posted and what others have been told.

Sorry I could not actually clarify anything, but just give you some thoughts.

I called DCL just like Susan did and they said night five which is Wedneday.....not sure if that is correct or not....but she looked it up on a paper

I did call Disney Cruise Line(1-800-326-0620) Found this number on the back of my doc info. I called three different times and spoke to three different people. I made sure they understood what cruise I would be taking. Was told by everyone of them Wednesday night would be pirate night. I also saw this info listed on a main thread several days ago and that is why I started calling. So who knows what will happen:confused3 I just keep reminding my self, only 11 more days till we leave for PC:cheer2: I guess it doesn't really matter to me, lets just get this party started.:cool1:

The ship is out on an Eastern right now. So we may see a trip report soon.

I sent an email to DCL Guest Services yesterday to see if I could get information on the theme nights. Here is the response I reeived this morning.

Dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general,
most meals are "Cruise Casual" -- no shorts, swimwear or tank tops;
jeans are allowed. Most cruises also have special theme nights. Below is
the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject to
change:

On 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruises:
*Nights 1, 3, 4, & 7: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 5: pirate night with deck party
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

Dress for dinner at Palo on all cruises:
Men: dress shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit

I too thought Pirate Night was Tuesday (St. Maartin day). I'm actually glad it is St. Thomas day since we disembark earlier from there. I didn't want to have to worry about being out and about all day & then getting ready.

Once we're under way, I'll be able to monitor the status of the engines as I think our room is right next to Engine 3. If I detect anything unusual, I'll bang on the pipes....so everyone needs to practice up on their morse code. ;)

In fact, one of the reasons we received such a good deal on the room is that every 4 hours I have to check the oil on Engine 3 :teeth:

I'll be the guy wearing the greasy lime green shirt.....

that's funny! DH and myself got a good laugh!

Michelle - thanks for the info on the dining!

Well I just had to cancel my Polo because we had Wednesday at 8 and that is the only time left.....oh well

Hey Steve - try and keep it down - some of us on deck 1 are going to be sleeping to the hummm of those engines!!!

Steve you are too funny.

Michelle you should have kept it and tried to change on the ship.

Okay and just for fun I am going to confuse everyone. I emailed some friends who are crew on the ship. And on emailed back that Pirate is still Tuesday on the Eastern as it is Tuesday and they are preparing the Pirates. :lmao: So that made me laugh. Maybe we will be the start of the new Pirate on Wednesday. Or maybe the people on the ship that help with the shows don't know anything either....and we thought we felt clueless:lmao:

Also, someone from DCL called Chuck today to confirm our REAS package and reservation for Palo (wed night). The DCL rep told Chuck that Pirate night on our Eastern was still set for Tuesday. I hope so!! We missed Pirate night in the dining room this past Turkey Day b/c Disney moved it from it's usual Wed. night to Tues. night. That was a Western.

Lisa thanks for sharing!!

Lisa,
After I read you post I checked my email. That was another email from my friend on the ship. I had sent her the schedule I got from DCL......she said they as crewmembers have yet to be informed of the switch of Pirate night to Wednesday and as far as she knows it is still Tuesday night. It made me laugh.

Well, I guess at this point, we won't make any changes to our Palo reservastions until we get on board - this will be another incentive to get on board early. So, we have gathered the following?....

1) Pirate night on Western Cruises have always been and remain on Wednesday.
2) Pirate night for our Eastern cruise have always been and still remains on Tuesday (to our knowledge).
3) Some cruises have changed dining rotations to the following patterns.. (APPLAPL PLLAPLA, LAAPLAP)
4) Formal night is Monday.
5) SemiFormal night is Thursday. (this is also Lobser night)
6) If you get the PLLAPLA rotation, you will have both formal and semiformal night in Lumierres which is desirable to some...

Does this all sound right?

However the official letters and all the calls to DCL (except Lisa's) they said that Pirate night is now on night five which is Wednesday. My friend who works on the ship says to their knowledge it is still Tuesday. So I think the bottomline is who knows.....seems like they are in a transition phase between shoreside and shipside.
3) Some cruises have changed dining rotations to the following patterns.. (APPLAPL PLLAPLA, LAAPLAP)
I do believe that all of us that have called or sent letters to DCL have been told the rotation would be more like AAPLAPL (the first and second night would be the same restaurant)
4) Formal night is Monday.
No, the list I got from DCL and what I got on the phone is Formal Night is on Sunday or night two on the Eastern....the Western is Monday since that is their first Sea Day
5) SemiFormal night is Thursday. (this is also Lobser night)
6) If you get the PLLAPLA rotation, you will have both formal and semiformal night in Lumierres which is desirable to some...

If I am wrong someone please correct me.

Is Monday or Sunday formal night?

I am pasting in the letter I got from Disney again here. According to the formal, but subject to change response it is Sunday (Night 2) for the Eastern. Not sure if it really clarifys anything, but at least it was a response in writing.

Thanks. Did you get my info on the fish extenders. We can't wait. I hope the Eastern people come back with info on the new retations. Lynn
