door signs -- i got one as a gift from Pat from Pat's sign thread, used jpgs from the internet and added text to the rest. Then uploaded the photos to Shutterfly and made large prints of them.....getting them laminated tonight. No big deal - just big pictures....btw, I had coupons and free shipping for all of them -- so free!!!!!

My DSIL, in Tampa, whom I am planning to spend three days with prior to the cruise and her family have come to the realization that they need to move back to Rhode Island (where her DH's family is). However, they are quite possibly making this move prior to the DD's and I's arrival. Which would leave us stuck in Tampa with no place to stay, and no car to get to Orlando to meet DH, DM, and DD on Friday. Now granted as life goes this is a inconvenience or annoyance rather than a tragedy, and I am sure that all will work out fine. However the entire premise for the girls and I traveling early was, no hotel bill, small food bill, hanging out on the beach so no entertainment bill, and SIL could easily drive me to Orlando, so no rental car bill. This is how I feel:


Best part, the decision of when they move will probably not be made until Monday, right before Valentine's madness at the flower shop, leaving me without time to sort this out until next weekend. (Rani are you having a heart attack yet )

Bonus to me for not having told the girls about the early get away, so I don't have to break their hearts.

My whole family lives in Florida !! Mostly in the St. Pete area !

Do you want me to see if I can upgrade my room at the AKL. We plan on jusr chilling at the heated pool and stuff, plus eating real cheap due to the cruise food !

I also have some great codes for a rental car !

btw, I told Craig about the midnight chocolate/I mean dessert buffet and he said, "will we even be up for it?" I said, "I'll be up for it -- whether you go is up to you...."

Welcome aboard...I don't know the story as I was not on the chat because I went to sleep early -- just to wake up and post at two-something in the morning.

What is he thinking of course you'll be up. If you can be up to post that it is day 25, then you will certainly be there for chocolate, even if I have to pound on your door to get you there!

Man, that's a fast move, don't they have STUFF !! I had so much STUFF it took TWO U-Hauls (the largest they had) to move !! Hubby was not happy !

You are soooo sweet! My current thought is going a little something like this:

Try to switch the flights to Orlando, and bunk down in my friends house near Celebration. She had previously invited the girls, myself, SIL and niece and nephew to come over Thursday night, or just to hang out on Friday. I'm thinking of calling to ask her if she wouldn't mind having a few less people for a few more days . If staying there works, and I can switch my flight great. If switching flight does not work I will be taking you up on those rental car codes!

If I do end up hanging in Orlando for a few days perhaps we can get together and meet before the cruise.

Did you request your same server from your last cruise??? We have sailed twice now...and haven't really experienced servers like you hear about on the boards all the time...we have had good servers both times..but not the ones that bring you out more food than you ask for!!!!

Yes, rough seas could defientely put a damper on dinner!!!!!

I'm wondering if the servers get a little closer when you are with them a second time. It must take a lot to get to know each of the families.

We loved Clive on our last 7 day, but not for the reasons that you hear most people rave about servers. Clive is from Jamaica. Quite possibly the stiffest, most proper Jamaican that has ever come off the island (does anyone watch Gilmore Girls? Think Michele at the inn)! For some reason this just cracked me up. DH said one night after ordering "I feel a little guilty, because Clive tells us about all the recommendations every night and then I order something totally different. I feel like I'm disappointing him every time."

Mid week DH was wiped out, and a little ill after a full day snorkeling( a little seasick, a little sunsick, and way overtired). He didn't admit to this until after ordering dinner. He decided to go back to the room and lay down, and asked me to bring his food when I came back. I asked Clive to wrap up the food for me. Next thing I know I found out that he had personally taken a tray with Bob's entire order to our stateroom. During dinner, and I never even knew that he was gone! A funny side to this story - when Bob had gotten to the stateroom the host was making the room up for the night. Bob told the host to keep going, and he would just wait in the hall. Feeling sick to his stomach he took off his coat and tie (it was semiformal night), took off his shoes, unbuttoned his pants, sat down and promptly fell into a light nap. He woke up to Clive "The most proper Jamaican EVER" standing over him with a tray of food. Needless to say Bob was just a little embarrassed. Clive did give me a bit of a strange look when he returned to our table but I didn't know why until later in the evening

By the end of the week Clive "got us". Figured out that we were a little and began to joke around with us. I am really looking forward to seeing him again, and hope that we get him as a server.

Good morning gang!!

We rarely book excursions with DCL because you can usually do the same things on your own. That being said, Norm and I are thinking of doing the Eco-kayak thingy in the excursions on the St. John day. It looks like you'd be doing the same thing on your own, at a comparable price.

As far as St. Martin I'm attempting to track down information on bike rentals and biking to one of the area beaches. There is also an excursion on St. Martin that involves biking...to the beach.

We are about half and half on this one. DH stresses that somehow by some act of God he won't get back to the ship in time, and since he did not book with DCL the ship will leave without him Therefore Bob tends to pay the extra cost to book thru DCL. I don't worry about such things, and tend to find my own things to do, which of course stresses out my DH

Hello to everyone.
Yes, I have been lurking. I have read all of the posts since page 1. I cannot thank all of you enough for the great information. My DW is the Sorceress Minnie. I hope that the fact that I registered and the site immediately went down is not an omen.
I just spent 2 1/2 hours driving home from work in what looked like a lifesize snowglobe outside the car window. I am sooo looking forward to a cruise. Not only is there no snow, and the food, and the pools, and the sun, and the beaches (okay, bikinis too) -- but somebody else is driving!

Snowing again here in Michigan and I am dreaming of the cruise, the sun, and the warm weather.

btw....DH got tired of lurking on the boards and signed up last night! Of course, immediately after signing up the boards went down. He will definitely help us get to 100 pages.
