OK - here's my personal packing tips:
They all sound kooky, but they work - so this is my only disclaimer -

- cram an assortment of T-shirts, jean shorts, underwear, socks, swimsuits, and pirate costumes into a suitcase.

- ask your wife to pick out a couple of formal and semi-formal clothes of her choosing to throw into the garment bag.

- grab deoderant, razor, toothbrush, passports, credit card, and cash on your way out the door.

I'll admit, the pirate costumes take some prior planning.

Sorry folks I haven't been around much.

I'm sure you all know the wisdom "Never go to the grocery store hungry, or you'll end up buying EVERYTHING!".


Well I have new wisdom to impart on you...

Never redecorate a room right before you cruise. You just might end up with a Tropical Paradise in your house. Seriously, we were planning to redo Audrey's room this Spring after the cruise. Plans somehow changed and I am now in the middle of making her room into a "beach" paradise, complete with a 8'x12' mural that will cover one entire wall.

I am no where near being ready to pack as I am down two rooms in my house right now (Audrey's is dismantled and the spare bedroom has all of her stuff in it, as does the hall and Grace's room, and the bathroom) What was I thinking doing this before the cruise! ! ! !

Yes..that is quite an undertaking, right before your big trip, but on the other hand, it will be nice to come home to it all being done I toke on a major project last fall, so I know what you mean about having stuff all over the place..I joked that we could've rented our garage out...
as it had everything one would've needed to live in it. LOL!!!!

I did my DD room as a Tiki hut. It's painted two shades of pink (of course, after two boys) and has a parea from the beach in Acapulco as a window treatment, tequila clay cups, baskets, fans and straw hats from Mexico on the walls. But the best part is that I bought a whole bunch of grass skirt bedskirts and cut the grass skirts off and used them as a border around the room -- I love that room!

I hope I don't get any marmalade or tahiti paint on my keyboard, but excuse my ignorance what is a parea? Your daughter's room sounds great. My younger daughter is my girly girl. Her room is pink, a darker pink and purple. Just about as girly as you can get. Audrey is my casual laid back kid that is fine as long as she can be swimming. Instead of a bed she chose a futon. Casual kid...

A Parea is a piece of material that women wrap around themselves on the beach or at the pool as a dress or a skirt. They come in various different lengths and widths and patterns and colors. We went to Acapulco while I was pregnant with DD and I got most of the decorations there dirt cheap. You may be able to barter for a lot of decorations on the islands during the cruise.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for where to get an international calling card that we can use on the cruise when on the islands? I went to Costco but it ends up that the international calling card they sell does not work in St Maartens or St Thomas (per the lady that answered when I called the 800 number on the back of the card).

First Hi !

I got some at Sam's club, do you guys have a Sam's ? I got a pack of 7 AT & T prepaid phone cards for $25. I just called the 800 number and you can use these everywhere BUT Castaway Cay. I wrote all the info if you guys get these because it was a pain for the guy to help me.
