»»June 16, 2012 Father's Day Cruise on the Fantasy!««

We will be celebrating father's day:cool1: and our 17th wedding anniversary. We will now be sailing with my mom. Our room is 8172 a deluxe family oceanview room. My mom is across the hall but not sure room number, but of course inside room, so very excited to be able to experience the room with nice big window but also see what the new inside portholes look like and do:banana:

Our very first cruise in 2003 was over Father's Day. Since we were new to cruising, I didn't know what 'normal' was, so it is hard to compare if there was anything special because it was Father's Day.

If I recall, it was mentioned in the Navigator and prior to the shows, and there may have been a special menu (could have just been the regular offerings, but printed on a menu that said Father's Day). There may have also been a small memento or note left in the stateroom acknowledging Father's Day. I also remember buying a DCL pin that had the word Father on it.

In other words, you knew it was Father's Day, but not a whole lot more.

Oh, it will be nice to tell DS there are boys his age too! Seen many girls his age... his response "Eeww", yet, DH responded to that as "You may think differently in 1 1/2 years" :lmao:

Thanks for adding us! Hope people sign up for the FE exchanges... ideas are rollin in my head now!
That's what I told my boys, too!

Father's day at sea has to be better than at home!

Sorry for the delay, I've been quite busy. The FE List has been updated.
Thanks!

Is there a secret for making reservations at Palo's?

Login in at midnight when your booking window opens. If that does not work then go to the set location once you board the ship and stand in line.

To add to what ssanders79 said, keep looking on-line after the original booking window. People are making changes so new times do open up.

To add some more...
Depending on your CC level you can also log in at midnight for each booking window. For example if you are Gold try logging on at midnight when Silver's booking window opens then again at the 75 day mark. There are people that claim that DCL holds (allegedly) back X number of seats for each booking window. I've yet to find proof. They also leave seats open (again, allegedly) for booking onboard the first day.

Triplefigs ~

I noticed on the FE list that we are even on the same deck and maybe rooms close by--- now hopefully the boys will all like each other enough to hang out on the cruise! Is it that your family booked 2 rooms and another for other family? Trying to get a head start on things... :rotfl:

Fun to see the lists growing! Thanks to all who are doing the updating! :goodvibes

we are joining in the fun! Just booked our June 2012 cruise today! We went on the magic back in Nov. ( our 1st cruise ) and had such a great time we want to do it again!

I just sent a request to join the facebook page and asked to be added to the fe list. the kids dd9, ds5 and dd4 are super excited that we are booked to go again!

YAY! More fun added! :yay: I am thinking of starting on my FE List items now so I don't become overwhelmed later! I will add you to my list too ;)

Hi all - very excited to find this thread and the Facebook group, which I just joined. Here's our info:

DIS Name: quirty30
Names/Ages of Those Sailing:
Linda (48) Evan (13) and Kaylee (11 - yes, another 11 year old girl!!!)
Stateroom(s) Trying to decide between 7690 and a Cat 5C...TA says we should go with mid-ship, but I'm really sold on 7690. Any advice?
Cruised Before? I cruised over 10 years ago on the Carnival Ecstasy, and almost 20 years ago on one of the Big Red Boats, in the days before DCL. First cruise for the kids and they are so excited!
Celebrating anything special? DD belated 11th birthday (5/15) and 5th grade graduation, DS early 14th birthday (6/25) and 8th grade graduation. I intentionally chose a date in between their birthdays.
Dining and Show Times: undecided

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!!!

You will probably get all sorts of opinions, so I will give you ours :goodvibes

We are aft lovers - we never have a problem with ship motion. We have been aft on all of our cruises and are for the next 3. We feel aft is a great location. We were originally going to do a Cat 5E, but once we saw that everyone on the higher decks will look down onto those extended verandahs, we talked it over and decided to go with the Cat 6 into one of those far aft verandahs. So, we would vote for you to choose 7690 :)

Thanks you so much - I need to decide by Monday. Seems like the only one trying to convince me to go with the 5C is my TA....perhaps because it's more expensive? I have noticed from reading these boards that there are a lot of folks who love the aft staterooms and book them over and over (like you!) And as someone else pointed out to me, the $400 or so I save is a nice bonus.

We are frequent hotel guests, and I always request a quiet room away from the elevators - I think the aft cabins are the cruise ship equivalent. We tend to sleep in a bit in the AM and I love that there won't be lots of foot traffic outside in the hall. My only real concern was the motion - I get motion sickness when I'm indoors on a ship regardless (and can keep it at bay for the most part with Dramamine.) One of the reasons I wanted a good sized verandah, is that I will generally be sitting out there rather than inside the cabin on the sofa. When I get really queasy, it will be my private retreat. So I too, think, that 7690 will be an excellent choice for us...I also like the deck location (not too high or too low) and the fact that it has the extra berth so DD can have her own bed and not have to share with me.

Thank you again for your input - it's very much appreciated!!!

Our TA suggested no aft or forward due to motion sickness. The 2 cruises we have been on we have been toward the front and middle of the ship. We all got sick with the forward room, but the waters were rough. I think it would be neat to have your view though in 7690. Good luck on your decision and welcome.

Hi, y'all! Worked the past 3 nights straight. I will update the roll call soon. Welcome to all the newest joining the cruise!
