~ºoº November 27, 2010- Western Magic! ºoº~

Tonya - :thumbsup2 How exciting to have some things booked arleady. I'll be waiting to see what other CC members have managed to snag for their ressies. I'll be patiently waiting for the 75 day mark popcorn:: At least that gives me more time to wallow in my indecisiveness :rolleyes1 ;)

My FE stash is forming nicely. :cheer2: I have some other ideas so I need to get busy on getting those organized. I'm still nervous about having a lot more people sign up so I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. :upsidedow

Most of the schools around here go back in about 10 days, but the teachers all go back this coming week. I'm sure the stores were crazy this weekend, I think it was tax-free weekend in Texas. I wasn't about to even try it! :scared1:

I already started on FE goodies too!

Looking forward to my 90-day mark, and really hoping I get the Palo reservation we want. That is my biggest concern. If I can snag it at least for the day I want, all is good. If I can't get my day, that will be a total bummer! Goodness...we are about 3 1/2 months away from sailing! :cheer2:

I'm sure if I wasn't so lazy I could find this somewhere else on, but what determined when you are booking Palo? :confused3 Are there certain days that you don't want, and why?

We've booked all our excursions, Palo dinner and tea, and childcare.

In Key West we may do the glass bottom boat excursion but we are going to book that on our own since it is much cheaper. Otherwise, I like the idea of walking to the Hemingway House and then seeing the lighthouse that was mentioned before.

In Grand Cayman, DH and DS4 will be doing the submarine tour through Disney. I will be shopping along with DS2 who can't do the submarine. I don't want to anyways, I don't like small places.

In Cozumel, we will be doing the dolphin swim. We have had issues because through the company we could book DS2 but not through disney. The company won't let us book since we are on a cruise. We could book on-line but then we have to pay for DS2 to swim but if we call he's free. Annoying! So, we will be calling the concierge tomorrow to see if they can override the system to add him as an observer so that he can be there with us. I'm going to do the swim first while DH has the two boys. Then, I'll take DS2 while DH and DS4 get to swim. In theory it works. Hopefully they can take care of it for us. I don't like the idea of leaving him in the nursery for that long.

I'm heading to Michael's at 4 to shop their big sell. 25% off your entire purchase including sale items. I've got my list for the FE. Does anyone know the cutoff date?

I'm not crazy about the Prince and Princess menu. Sealed the deal for me! That's the night I am shooting for!

I am hoping to make Palo ressies for November 30. We shall see if I get them!

As for the FE cutoff, it is October 15 (6 weeks before we sail).

So glad everyone is managing to get their ressies taken care of. I haven't had any time to look into it further. I'll see what's available when my window opens and take it from there. ;)

I was able to snag a good deal using the new GP rates that came out yesterday for our pre-cruise stay at WDW - that was very exciting and I'm super happy about that.

Booked ours already too! We decided to give Palo's dinner a pass this time and go for a brunch...we love the brunch...so we have a 10:30 brunch on Monday! :thumbsup2
In Key West, we are thinking about renting an electric car or walking around....Sulley thinks the electric car sounds like fun. We walked to Mile 0 the last time and it's not far, should be a nice walk in November. I want to go to Hemingway's house as well, and the Southernmost Point marker...we didn't get there last time and it's a glaring absence in my scrapbook!:rotfl:
COzumel we are doing the Mexican Cuisine and beach excursion.
In Grand Cayman we are on our own, maybe back to Margaritaville for lunch...

Been working out :yay::yay::yay: in hopes of losing a little weight before the cruise...down 4 pounds! ;)

Where are we on the FE? I'd like to get started, but don't have any idea how many we have so far...

Darcy posted this a week or so ago about the FE, I'm not sure if she's had anybody new since then, but haven't seen anyone else post about joining in.

So our running total for FE participants....

# of Cabins 20

# of Girls 11
# of Boys 15
# of Adults 36
Total # of People 62

That is the current tally for the FE

Great job on being down 4 lbs Nana Tink!

I was so busy looking up the FE stuff that I totally forgot to mention the 4 lbs!! That is awesome. I wish I could say the same! :rotfl:

This will be our first cruise - Nov 27th. Never been to this site before and somewhat confused about FE, DD, DS. What does all this mean??

Thanks

Hi goincrusin!! Nice to see a fellow southerner here :) DH is from LA! FE stands for Fish Extender, which is something you hang by your door. If you sign up for the fish extender exchange with this group, you basically join a secret santa of sorts and leave and receive little gifts in your FE (fish extender). There are lots of posts about it. There is a search function up on the upper right that you can use to find more info in general. If you decided you wanted to sign up, then you would do that here, as this is the "group". :) With me so far?? LOL :goodvibes DD, DS, DH, DW are all abbreviations for "dear" or "darling" or whatever else you want it to be and then daughter, son, husband, wife etc. There are so MANY abbreviations - some of them are really hard to figure out! :rotfl:

This site is a great source of information. :)

Thanks ukintheus. I guess I am a little late to the game, but it does look like there is a lot of information on this site to help with the cruise planning.

Hello! And Welcome Aboard!

DS/DD/DW/DH refer to Dear (or Darling) Son, Daughter, Wife, Husband. And there can be so many more beyond that even!

FE is Fish Extender. There are several threads on this, but to spare you trying to do a search on this...in a nutshell, Disney ships have a "holder" in the form of a fish outside each stateroom door. The original intent for use was for "mail" to guests from the DCL crew (which it is still used in that capacity). DISers took this a step further and use it for a gift exchange. If you decide to participate in an FE, you hang what is known as a Fish Extender (see pic below, from my mom's and my cruise last October) on the fish. Those in your group participating put small gifts inside. Please excuse my very basic concept of the Fish Extender...I am not crafty and do not sew! This was the best I could come up with. You will see many more elaborate versions of this.

Hope this all helps!

Thank you, this gives me a much clearer idea of the process. How many people participate in this?
