Help, sure these questions have been asked before:

Do any of the "bleacher seats" have backs on them?

Hi, keshashadow. The aluminum, beacher type seats have backs similar to the seats. Two pieces. One for the seat, one for the back. No reserved numbers. "Preferred seating" for CP package purchasers.

When/where is the tree lighting?

The Epcot Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony show is held at 6:00 P.M. and after the about 20 minute show, they light the Christmas Tree and the Lights of Wonder arch. The Epcot Christmas Tree is located at the main entrance to the World Showcase as you leave Future World.

Can I assume that all shows will allow me to see Illuminations?

The first show is at 5:00 P.M., and lasts for about 40 minutes. The Illuminations fireworks starts at 9:30 P.M., so you will have three hours and 50 minutes to do other things before Illuminations start.

The second show is at 6:45 P.M., so you will have about two hours and five minutes to find a space around the lake to watch Illuminations.

The third show is at 8:15 P.M., so you will have about 35 minutes to find a spot to watch Illuminations.

Need to depart from International Gateway, any suggestions as to a "good spot" to watch Illuminations with a a decent view; then afford us a quick exit?

Depending on what time that you get to save a spot, the bridge that crosses from the England pavilion is a great spot to watch Illuminations. Underneath this bridge is where the Illumination Cruises park their pontoon boats to watch Illuminations.

If you have the time, and can save a spot, the attached cafe-type table seating area located to the left of the Rose and Crown Pub is a very relaxing place to watch the Illuminations. Most of the tables are for two. Some people pull chairs and tables together. Depending on the crowds, the Rose and Crown serve dinner out there which would preclude you from using select tables. I like the tables next to the stone wall, and not directly under a overhanging tree branch.

There are several other places a little further away, but the bridge is located right next to the path to the International Gateway for a quick exit.

If you are wondering about how early to get to these spots, then try to think how early would you try to save a spot on Magic Kingdom's Main Street to watch the Spectromagic parade.

If I want to eat @ Le Cellier, which show/dinner seating will allow me to see the tree lighting (hopefully, without any running involved)?

Sorry for the number of questions but, I'm getting more confused by the minute. Thanks.

This is a million dollar question, isn't it?

The Epcot Christmas Tree Ceremony is at 6:00 P.M..

I would dine at at 4:00 P.M.. I don't think that I could dine at 6:45 P.M. which might take at minimum of an hour. That would leave about 30 minutes to walk past Canada, past England, over the bridges, past France, past Morocco, past Japan, and finally to the American pavilion to get to the 8:15 P.M. last CP show.

If I were not doing the CP package, I would not worry so much about the time.

Sincerely, Ray

The official Disney CP page at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...undTheWorldCandlelightSpecialEventPage&bhcp=1 shows Dec 22-27 as OPEN and not Gary Sinise.

Is this a recent change ?

Yes, it is. That was quick. Usually their are blanks spaces when they first announce the list, but they have already removed Gary Sinise. Maybe he has a new movie to be in at that time. Maybe he might change his mind.

I haven't had time to make the change on the front page yet. I was trying to figure out how to post this change and future changes by posting the WDW web page to show that Gary Sinise and any other future changes.

WDW uses the same web pages, but just changes the info when needed.

Sincerely, Ray

RaySharpton - Thanks for the comprehensive answer, I've printed it out and will study it to form my strategy (feel like I'm planning an invasion ;) ).

One more "newbie" query: Is it too much to try and squeeze the Osbourne Lights in during the Epcot/CP/Treelighting day? Starting to think I should add it on after a MK day.

Great & informative thread, however, I have trouble finding it, do wish the powers that be would put it as a "Sticky" @ the top of the page. Thanks again.

The MGM Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights usually starts around sunset or about 6:00 P.M..

The Epcot Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony show starts at 6:00 P.M..

And there is a nice WDW boat launch ride from MGM to Epcot's International Gateway, but it takes about 45 minutes. The WDW boat launch makes stops at MGM, Swan/Dolphin Resort, Beach and Yacht Club Resort, Boardwalk Resort, and finally the Epcot stop. You can also walk it, but it would be to much for me.

I put links to my threads that I can't lose in my signature. This thread is at the bottom.

The DIS Meet Forum is pretty slow and you can usually find one of my threads on the first page if you need to find a link to this thread.

And you are very welcome.

I am so disappointed about Gary Sinise. My mom was really excited when she thought he was going to be there. I too am surprised he cancelled because he has said he loves doing it over Christmas. I wonder who his replacement will be???

Like Ray said, Osbourne Lights and the Epcot tree lighting both start at 6pm. And since MGM typically closes at 8pm this time of year (although the official hours aren't out yet), you'd have to do the Osborne Lights on a MGM evening EMH if you were to see the CP stuff and OL in the same night. And I'm just assuming the Osborne Lights are on til park close-- I'm sure someone can confirm that.

Anyone like Originale Alfredo Di Roma for CP night? Don't hear much reviews about this place. Wanted to go to Coral Reef for dinner but now thinking it might be a long walk from CP theatre to The Land Pavilion area (although we have two hours to get there, unless detour to watch the Tree lighting).

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions! In the back of my mind, haven't ruled out Teppanyaki either.

Any advice?!

We are going when the little boy from "The Sixth Sense" is doing the CP. So, I am pretty excited! Too bad that Johnny Depp isn't going to be one of the celebrities narrarating...**sigh**

I think that we are going to try and do the 5pm showing on 12/6 and the go to see the tree lighting and then dinner at LeCellier at 6:30pm (we are used to later dinners especially when we have been snacking all day :teeth: .) Also, I think that we we spend all day in Epcot until about 1:30 - 2pm, go back to the Poly for a little nap and to freshen up and then head back back around 3:30 - 4pm.

Does this sound do-able?

I would like to go Dec 7th eating at LeCellier with AD at 6:15 but arriving a little late after the tree lighting show. Is the show far from LeCellier? Eat a normal paced meal, we don't really like long drawn out dinners. and watch CP at 8:15. Do you think this may be possible. If not we will skip the tree lighting. Kids will be at Neverland Club back at the Poly. They don't care for Epcot, and will enjoy a relaxing few hours while DH and I have a date. We are doing land/sea and somethings may have to wait for next trip! Thanks.

Sounds like a plan to me! Have to sell my DH on attending. He's still in shock that he might miss 2 Steeler gamesLOL, I told him to set up shop @ ESPN and meet up with us later.

DH and I haven't even discussed the fact that we are going during football season.
That's what we have TIVO for ;)

LeCellier is very close to the tree lighting.... like a minute walk. Have your kids been to Epcot during Christmas time? Tree lighting.... holiday storytellers in each country.... and the new Soarin ride.

Alright now ladies. Football is very important to us guys. :)

ESPN is a great place to watch football. If it is a popular game, get there early to sit in the room with the big screen. The bar is walkin with TV's everywhere.

POR has a nice big screen TV in its bar.

Contemporary Resort has a big screen TV in a side room to the bar, next the Chef Mickey's. It is small area with big comfy chairs.

Most resort bars will have their TV's tuned to football, too.

O.K...back to CP.

Sincerely, Ray

ccgegg-Thanks for the info. I retooled the "plan" and we will all go to Epcot Dec 4th for the tree lighting and stroll around the world. It sounds great. We went 07/04 and it was just to hot and spread out for the kids. The 4th is one of our MK days and closes early for a MVMCP that we aren't going to so it will be perfect! Something special for the kids so they understand why they are leaving when others aren't.

Your children will love the tree lighting - it's like a party in itself!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't even think the tree lighting will be done by 6:30 (there's also a little "show" type thing associated with it). Also, they typically want you a little early for ADRs.... maybe book your restuarant just 30 minutes later? Just a thought.

Again, someone (like Ray or another super-informed DISer :)) please correct me if I'm misunderstood.

Okay I take offense to the statement about football being important to "us guys" because I am a lady planning her whole entire expensive trip around The Green Bay Packer football schedule(I bleed green and gold) and by the way my husband hates football. Thanks for the great football viewing recommendations. :)

Can a CP dinner package be canceled?

I believe you can cancel with a full refund up to 24 or 48 hours before, can't remember which.

The tree lighting should be over by 6:15-6:20.
