Trust me.
DCL is not going to shut down the island for construction. The main parts of the beach will be open. I imagine that the new play structures will be put together and then transported to the island. The Cabanas are going up where the Teen beach is now and is far away from the main family beach.
I guess my concern is that January is such an iffy time anyway, that it would be easy for DCL to just say "Windy, can't dock, sorry." And it would buy them a whole day for construction purposes. I know it is dishonest and would make Walt roll in his grave and is against everything DCL stands for. But, sometimes, if you are up against it, desperate measures, ya know?
We were there a few weeks ago, and the construction has commenced but it did not affect our enjoyment of the island. I don't think there are any plans to shut down CC during construction.
I know that people are saying that construction efforts are during off days, and minimal. But, again, we are sailing in January. We are going to be a lot closer to their "due date." If, God forbid, something should happen, and they fall behind, and have to pick up slack, it MAY mean 24/7 construction, even with guests there.
I hate to be picky little broad, but we have been saving up a long time for this trip of a lifetime, and even if there is only ONE crane out there, it will still bother me. If there is a half-built cabana at Serenity Bay, it will bother me. Posters on these boards have painted this picture of perfection for CC, and I don't want anything less.
