Why would they need it? Alaska isn't below zero all year round. It gets quite hot in the summer. The igloos do melt eventually! :)

When will Disney release prices for the new schedules, like (Alaska, Panama Canal, Mexican Riveria) I know they go onsale September 21, 2009 to gold and platium members, and September 28, 2009 to the general public. But I'd like some heads up to the actual cost before I decide if I can swing one of these cruises.

I just read this on the DCL webpage:

To prepare for the Alaska sailings, a brand-new venue called Outlook Café will be added to the Disney Wonder during dry dock in October. Located high atop deck 10, the 2,500-square-foot Outlook Café is a stylish retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows at breathtaking vistas. The design of Outlook Café is sophisticated with contemporary Art Deco inspiration. An elegant spiral staircase connects Outlook Café with the existing Cove Café one deck below. The 65-seat lounge has a granite-topped cocktail bar with comfortable seating throughout the space, all providing picture-perfect views of the surrounding landscapes.

Hope that helps.

I picked these out of another post and twitter, so I cant take credit for them. I figured I would post them here since the other thread is so long, and also so others can post any pictures they may have of the ships model.

In looking at these pictures, it looks like we may see some rooms with obstructed verandahs. Maybe there will be some "secret rooms" after all.

Edited: Second picture is no longer appearing. Are photo's from twitter blocked?

My understanding is that the Magic will also do seven night Carribean cruises when not in Europe. Am I wrong there?

I have a few notes from the webcast and I wrote that the Magic would be doing 10 and 11 night cruises to Spain, Italy and France in summer 2011 and they would also offer 3, 4,5 and 7 night cruises from PC at that time.

So, that makes me think that the Dram will do some 7 ngiht cruises in the summer when the Magic goes back to Europe. I don't see any 5 night or 7 night for summer 2011 listed on the website yet though...

Wendy we were there in 2006 with Princess. We got fairly close and did hear on calfing not that we saw anything.

Wow - gorgeous photos - thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

It's really not that hard to fly with kids, says the guy who has flown DS7 across the country four times starting when he was one year old!

I agree. Our DD8 has been flying transatlantic routes regularly since she was 13 m.o. If children get used to flying early on in life, they just seem to go with the flow. :hippie:

Cool - thanks for sharing. Hope you enjoy the rest of D23. :cool2:

Well, it looks like I'll be spending my lunch hour on the 28th trying to book an Alaskan Adventure! :yay:

Couple questions. If I have a cruise booked in 2010 now, that I booked onboard, and I want to move that to Alaska, do I have to have my travel agent book Alaska for me? She has my current reservation now. And if so, will she book on the 28th with everyone else?
Also, with the CC members who can book earlier, will that drive the prices up before the 28th even comes for those of us who are only silver level? I can understand the priority, but if it makes it so they get lower prices, then I think it's really not fair.

Thanks!

We are so excited about the Wonder coming to the West Coast! :cool1: We have never done a cruise before. A few questions:
I see people are recommending calling the morning of the release. Is it better to do this yourself or use a travel agent?
If we do book that day, can we change the dates later without any fees?
What is the deposit required to book a room(s)?
Thanks!

I personally would do it all yourself. I like control over my reservation - if the price drops, I can get on the phone and take care of it right away. If I decide to make a change, I can do it myself.
I prefer to book online, but looks like these may only be bookable via phone at first???

As for deposits - it depends on how long your cruise is. I know the 7 day are $250 each - and not sure if they still will have the half price deposit special going.

Went back to www.disneycruise.com/2011 to see if the initial announcement podcast was up , but it's not up yet. Bummer, for those who couldn't watch it live.

They have put up a little short video that they showed of Donald's Alaskan adventure. Watching it again - they actually shot footage in Skagway. When we were in Skagway we mentioned to a shop owner about Disney coming to Alaska and they said they had heard that as well. No wonder they knew as they would have known about the film shooting. Skagway is not big - 4 blocks wide - 12 blocks long - Disney couldn't hide something like Donald if they wanted to. Posted our finding when we got back from Alaska, but the majority had moved onto Hawaii being the likely destination.

There is also a nice podcast about the updates to Castaway Cay with some neat ariel shots.

Try youtube- it's already there on their youtube account. :)

Nice pic and it does look the structure is basically the same so from the pic it looks like three or so decks may have "secret verandah" cabins in the front of the ship!!! Can't tell from the back what it looks like.

Pretty good guess would be between now and Sept 21!!! :lmao:

That's a good observation. The ones who get to book early have to do it by phone. On the 28th, we have the option of both online and the phone.

I think I read somewhere on here awhile ago with the upgrades to the website, we can now move our own existing reservations to a different cruise. I haven't looked into this, but I assume it would only be possible if you are holding the reservation and not a TA. Someone else, know anymore about this possibility.

Cool, so it is Alaska and back to the Med for 2011.
I have a couple of dummy bookings, I'm all ready to transfer.

So no Hawaii! LOL I guess "someone" needs to have a talk with their "super secret high level" sources because they were truly off the mark. Oh well, there is always 2012 to predict.

Prices are not released yet!

Anyone know when 2011 prices (esp. PC) and the Dream Itinerary will be released? (Sorry if this has already been answered...I'm trying to catch up on pages 26 - 40.)

I was thinking I was going to have to go in to work late on the 28th, depending on how long it takes me to get through for me and my clients, but then looked at the calendar and realized I am already off for Yom Kippur .

So do I have to atone for my sin this Yom Kippur or next?? :rolleyes1
