Holy cow -- ok... Thanks!!! Do the rates really go up in a matter of hours? Wow! Maybe I should take the morning off work. :rotfl:

They did for the last PC repos when they went on sale on 1/31/07.

Do you all usually have better luck getting through online of by phone? I will try both simultaneously of course. :)

If you have a dummy booking to transfer you used to have to call but now with DCL's system you are supposed to be able to transfer it yourself. Personally I do not know if I would trust that since I haven't heard of anyone doing that successfully yet.

My understanding is that the Magic will also do seven night Carribean cruises when not in Europe. Am I wrong there?

That is correct, except for the 11 and 10 day holiday cruises in December. :)

I just read this on the DCL webpage:

To prepare for the Alaska sailings, a brand-new venue called Outlook Café will be added to the Disney Wonder during dry dock in October. Located high atop deck 10, the 2,500-square-foot Outlook Café is a stylish retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows at breathtaking vistas. The design of Outlook Café is sophisticated with contemporary Art Deco inspiration. An elegant spiral staircase connects Outlook Café with the existing Cove Café one deck below. The 65-seat lounge has a granite-topped cocktail bar with comfortable seating throughout the space, all providing picture-perfect views of the surrounding landscapes.

Hope that helps.

I remember PJpoohbear posting something about this a week or so ago...the expansion to the Cove Cafe with stairs and all. I will have to search for it later to see if it was an article or just hearsay at the time.

Couple questions. If I have a cruise booked in 2010 now, that I booked onboard, and I want to move that to Alaska, do I have to have my travel agent book Alaska for me? She has my current reservation now. And if so, will she book on the 28th with everyone else?
Also, with the CC members who can book earlier, will that drive the prices up before the 28th even comes for those of us who are only silver level? I can understand the priority, but if it makes it so they get lower prices, then I think it's really not fair.

Thanks!

Yes, if your TA has your current ressie then they will have to transfer the booking for you. As the first tiers fill up the category goes to the next pricing tier so yes, those who can book first will get the lower prices.

We are so excited about the Wonder coming to the West Coast! :cool1: We have never done a cruise before. A few questions:
I see people are recommending calling the morning of the release. Is it better to do this yourself or use a travel agent?
If we do book that day, can we change the dates later without any fees?
What is the deposit required to book a room(s)?
Thanks!

It is really a personal preference. You can change the dates up until final payment is due without a fee. 7 day cruises are usually $250 pp and the longer 10+ cruises have been $600 in the past [$125 and $300 with the 1/2 price deposit special but I wouldn't depend on that being in affect for this.

I appreciate your thoughts and postings. You also seem to have really good sources. So please don't ever stop posting. :thumbsup2

Now does anyone know where they will be doing the unveiling in October. I'm mid-town in NYC and may seriously have to get to that event.

They may be tying it in (or maybe not) with the big "A Christmas Carol" event at Grand Central Station over Halloween weekend. It is a big promotion for the movie but seems coincidental that DCL will announce the unveiling during the same time frame. Grand Central Station would be a great place for an unveiling....but this is just speculation....I have no idea where they are going to unveil the Dream!!!

MJ

Usually they give an idea of prices closer to the booking date, but you won't find out exact prices until booking opens.
As for the Dream, on Oct 23rd they are unveiling all that stuff!

Anyone know when 2011 prices (esp. PC) and the Dream Itinerary will be released? (Sorry if this has already been answered...I'm trying to catch up on pages 26 - 40.)

Most of the highlights are in the first post. The information is expected to be released along with the announcement in NYC.

The Disney Dream will be unveiled live in NYC on October 29. Beginning at 4:15 pm EST you can watch the streaming video of the unveil and be part of the action at disneycruise.com.

I thought it was Oct. 29th, am I wrong?

ETA: OK, I see Lisa just posted it above, she must have been posting as I was reading and typing, LOL!!!

I think that everyone's brain is turning to mush with all of these dates. I listed the Wonder's sailings in the first post as being in 2009 before a friend pmd me. ;)

I know I'm brain fried tonight, LOL!!! :lmao:

Can anyone remember what the first tier pricing on the 10 day med cruises was for any/all categories?

Nice pic and it does look the structure is basically the same so from the pic it looks like three or so decks may have "secret verandah" cabins in the front of the ship!!! Can't tell from the back what it looks like.

MJ

Upon further thought....they will probably have a special category for the "secret" verandahs and priced accordingly (but not a deal like getting a Cat 6 for Cat 7 price)...as Lisa said earlier...they want to get as much as they can for each cabin.

MJ

OK...I am so confused!!! Another mushed brain here!!......We can't book on Sept. 21 (Gold and Plat) for the Dream because the itineraries won't be released...or will they???...or are we just able to book the other 2011 itineraries?

Just wondering as we will be onboard the Magic that week so don't know if the Dream will be available to book yet or just Alaska and stuff

Also, since it was mentioned you would have to book via phone on the 21st does that mean they won't accept onboard ressies???

Nope and :confused3. I guess they will be able to tell you onboard?

I doubt that we will see permanent covers. In fact we might not see any covers after drydock and they might be mostly doing structural work to support covers in next month's drydock. Two more thoughts:

1. I remember people complaining about the cold sea days on the Magic in 2008 when it was doing MR cruises. If the covers are easily movable, they might use them during portions of the winter out of LA.

2. There is a whole day docked in San Francisco on the LA to Vancouver Repo, where they could be doing final installation of cover material. Perhaps we won't see any covers until then...

I didn't read the whole thread yet, but will there be covers?

We did the 6/1/08 MR cruise and FROZE at the pool on the sea days! They were actually handing out blankets.

We were in Anchorage, Alaska this July, and even with the heat wave of high 80's, it was still very chilly on the water during our glacier tour. But it was AMAZING.

Has this link from the DCL site been posted yet....if it has I apologize I just can't read through the whole thread right now.

It is from the press release section of the website. It is interesting that at the very bottom it says:

All pricing reflects a category 11C standard inside stateroom, Government Taxes and Fees not included. To learn more about Disney Cruise Line, to book a vacation or for more detail on offer terms and conditions, guests can contact their travel agent, visit disneycruise.com or call Disney Cruise Line at 888/DCL-2500.

Do you think that was the old Cat 12's with the new classifications that were mentioned? I know many cruise lines have categories and then sub categories like A, B, C., etc.

MJ

oh no!
I just read the website and aside from not being able to book a week early (only 3 cruises so far but 28 nights... next year's cruise will add 14 more night and we STILL won't be gold member!) there are other benefits we'll lose out on. Instead of ADDING benefits for gold they took some away from us! We won't be able to go to the castaway club reception!!!!!
(and it also mentioned merchandise special offers- we'll miss out on that too).

I guess basically you're not much of a castaway club member unless you've cruised OFTEN, regardless of the length of cruises. wahhhhhhhhhh

That is the exact same article that was on Yahoo news...just prettier on the DCL background. :)

Thanks...I figured since it was the press release...same article probably went to all the news outlets in some form or another!!

My head is really swimming!!!

MJ

Good catch on that 11C - - maybe some of the more desirable cabins/decks will now have tiered pricing.
I bet our fave one will be an 11A and cost the most. lol
