Are you saying that you think that they wont have the Wonder do alaska again? I have a feeling that it will be every year or so untill they try to branch out to Hawaii for an occ. itinerary. I think for awhile we will be seeing Mexico and Alaska.
No - I'm meaning that in 2012 both the Dream and Fantasy will be doing Caribbean itineraries. The Wonder's new Port is San Pedro and the Magic is most likely going to Europe/Med somewhere.

Prices start at 939 per person us based on double occupancy for a standard inside.

So if prices start at $939 PP for the cheap seats, does anyone have a guestimate as to what it would be for 2 adults, 2 children for a Verandah room? I'm thinking for Alaska, it would be awesome to have a verandah!

I'm not sure how I feel about this... We'll be on the Wonder in November, just a few weeks after she comes out of drydock. Part of the thrill for us Northerners is "flying South" when the temperature up here drops. I remember how wonderful it felt to sit out by the pool in the warm Florida sun this past February. I don't know how the atmosphere would be quite the same under a dome... Hopefully these covers will be retractable!

I doubt that we will see permanent covers. In fact we might not see any covers after drydock and they might be mostly doing structural work to support covers in next month's drydock. Two more thoughts:

1. I remember people complaining about the cold sea days on the Magic in 2008 when it was doing MR cruises. If the covers are easily movable, they might use them during portions of the winter out of LA.

2. There is a whole day docked in San Francisco on the LA to Vancouver Repo, where they could be doing final installation of cover material. Perhaps we won't see any covers until then...

This is good and bad; I always wanted to do the Dream in 2011 just "to be on the new ship" and now they have to make me make a decision since they've got Alaska :) :) the same year as well as all of the fun renos to C.C. Choices, choices, choices. Wonder if I can convince D.H. to both. How nice for DCL to "listen to their customers" though in choosing Alaska.

Anyone know when the 2019 itineraries will be released?
My kids college loans should be paid off then, and I can start thinking about cruising again.

You would want a verandah :thumbsup2 I am assuming it will be like say $7800 (cat 6) first day bookings on the 28th. And will go up from there. That is also what the MR for the 7 days will be around...give or take.

I am just doing some math based on some other fares...but my guess is for a Category 6 Verandah room it would be like $1530ish for an adult and $599ish for kids. So for our family of 4 it would be $4258 plus taxes and that stuff.

At what point does a child fare become an adult fare??

If Disney is building up their London office, is it likely that Dover will be the "home port" for the magic in 2012?

I think what they are saying is that with the Fantasy being released in 2012 to take over the Magic's cruises there will be 2 ships out of PC that year and the Wonder will stay on the west coast and the Magic can go whereever they want to send her. :)

What amazing news... I really want to see Alaska on DCL. :woohoo:

Question - I have never paid for a cabin on DCL. We have been 3 times, each time using points from the Disney Vacation Club. So, if I were to book the cheapest cabin on the first day, what are the odds that I will be upgraded to a better cabin? Also, are there better chances of upgrades if I book directly through Disney, or better to go through a travel agent?

Thanks in advance!!!

I agree! Ugh!! The Gold and Platinim CC members will get access to that info, earlier, since they can book earlier, right? Hopefully they will share that info with lowly silver CC members like me. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We will have a thread like this one for booking day where everyone can post their prices and info from the agents since nothing will be seen online until the 28th. :thumbsup2

Gottcha :thumbsup2 ......ahhhhhhhh to have 4 ships to pick from.....the trips could be endless. I have been so happy that the Wonder will be Ca. home port. That so ROCKS!!!!

That is so hard to say...upgrades are so sparatic. But it will depend on the interest of people to book. I think that lots of people are going to be wanting the verandahs, so those will be the hot ticket.

The only guarantee that you have is if you book a category 12 and have four people in your room you automatically get a category 11.

There is no rhyme or reason to upgrades.

Found the link to the live broadcast for those who weren't able to watch it earlier.

The new revamped site is cool. Keep finding new things. They have some cool Alaska photos up. I think the one of Donald looking thru the binoculars is taken at Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau. They also have some wallpaper up that you can used as background.

Interesting that when you click on new destinations - Alaska and the Pacific Region - they have a really nice shot of the Parliament Buildings/Museum and the Inner Harbour in Victoria - about 20 mins. from my house.

Schachteles & lbgraves... thanks for the replies. I guess I can book the
category 12 (it will only be 2 adults in the room) and hope for the best.

I know that I have some time to think about it and possibly cancel if I get
cold feet (like I did for the Northern European Baltic DCL cruise).

Since I've been half-following whats going on, are the speciality cruises the ONLY ones avail to book on 9/29/09 or will ALL the 2011 dates be avail?

and, is there a new list of dates/cruises and I missed it or not yet?

sorry I can't keep track....

THANX!
