Is Alaska Open Loop?

From the ports he named, I think it'll be closed-loop cruises. But it doesn't matter.

US citizens - YOU WILL NEED A PASSPORT book or card. If you fly into Vancouver of home from Vancouver, you need the passport book. If you fly to Seattle or Bellingham and drive across the border, you need the passport card or a similar drivers license. You can't drive across the border any more with just a birth certificate.

I was really hoping for some more "Dream" info, but the variety of repo cruises and Alaska is nice.

Tony and I were glued to our individual computers, although we pretty much knew it was Alaska because we knew about the work to be done on the Wonder to prep it. I liked the info. on Castaway Cay though. It's going to be even more amazing.

Barb: What type of work are they doing?

And a BIG question for anyone who has done Alaska -- since they didn't get the required permit to do Glacier Bay, are there other such areas they will sail that includes glaciers and/or the cascading (probably wrong term) of the ice off the cliffs?

We just came back from Alaska on Saturday and it is beautiful Yeah Disney sign me up for 2011 we will be back

We did it at the beginning of August with RCI - can't wait to go back. It was beautiful - words can't begin to describe. We went with the expectation that Disney was going soon, so went to get the lay of the land so to speak, so we could do it even better with Disney.

For those at work..... Island makeover at CC in 2010 --

2400 q ft floating waterslide -- Pelican Plunge, and new water play area... extend tram line througout the island!! Private beach cabanas.....

I know that everyone is excited about Alaska; but honestly, this kind of news breaks my heart. We have been saving up for a couple of years, and were really looking forward to a "private island oasis." Now, we will likely be sailing to a construction zone. Not an oasis at all. IF we even get on the island, as it is possible construction could shut down CC altogether. The date is non-negotiable. So, I may be forced to change to a WDW vacation for that week if CC is going to be a wreck. All that planning for nothing...

Im more excited over the personal Cabana's on Castaway Cay

I actually am not a big fan of the private cabanas. Kind of takes away from the "unspoiled" aspect of CC. It also lends itself to a have/havenots feel of the island.

I should have said 30 mins.... I am in Langley. Happy to help with any Vancouver questions in the future....

Langley! That's where I go to get ice skates sharpened! I can't get a decent job done this side of the border, so I am glad to be so close to someplace where hockey is the national religion!

I live in Bellingham, one of the last cities you come across driving from Seattle to the border. And I cross regularly, so any US citizens who have questions about the I-5 and nearby border crossings please feel free to ask me.

Why did they have to open bookings so soon though!? I am not onboard until Oct 31st and have no dummy dates to move across! Looks like no OBC for me!!!

You go on the PC???
We are so want to do this, but January 6... hmmmm i wonder if i can get of work then because we also go on the PCC 2.0

I didn't think the Repo cruise would be so close to the PCC 2.0. Now I have to decide if I want to do it. That is so early in the year. To use of 2 weeks of vacation so early. :scared1: I have to think a while about it.

It is going to Tracy Arm Fjord, I have actually read that that is one of the best places to visit on Alaska Cruises.

I just called DH, he is on board! I think we will plan to take Amtrack, it is a beautiful train ride north to Vancouver from Edmonds or Everett! I cannot wait!

We took a similar cruise with HAL in 2006, but it included Glacier Bay as well. There should be a couple of chances to see the "calving" of the glaciers while on the day at Tracy Arm Fjord.

Alaska sounds cool .. I wonder if the Vancouver Sun is going to receive some flak (spelling?) from Disney for announcing it early?

It will be nice not to have to fly international to go on the cruise! Does this mean us Canadians can get the fast boarding and you Americans will have to go in the slower foreign lineups :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

(Please take this with the humour it was meant!)

And don't forget .. zee is zed up here!!! :rotfl2:

Trust me. DCL is not going to shut down the island for construction. The main parts of the beach will be open. I imagine that the new play structures will be put together and then transported to the island. The Cabanas are going up where the Teen beach is now and is far away from the main family beach.

We were there a few weeks ago, and the construction has commenced but it did not affect our enjoyment of the island. I don't think there are any plans to shut down CC during construction. :confused3

We were just in CC a week ago and other than seeing some cranes at the dock, we noticed NOTHING about construction. It didn't mar our experience at all, you'll have a
GREAT time regardless of the ongoing construction. somehow Disney is AWESOME of camoflaging it.

I could pay for one, but I'll choose not to. My guess is that most of them (if not all) will be snatched up by suite passengers, as Captain Thord told us last week they will only be 18.
