ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

Did any of you ever work for or dream of working for Disney? I ALWAYS wanted to work there even though my mom was a CM for the Dis Store and I know it isn't as magical as I like to imagine :)

I always wanted to be in charge of Space Mountain or Splash Mountain as a kid- "How many? Stand over there." LOL so lame!

I would LOVE to work for Disney!! If I could choose, I think I'd like to work at a resort - maybe in Concierge, helping other people plan their vacations :goodvibes

Are we the only ones driving to WDW??

We are too! Haven't drove since we were 18 and childless! Driving from NJ to Georgia to stay at our cousins house for 2 nights. Then we're all off to Disney together from there :) I'm praying the kids do well in the car!

QOTD: Now that we're getting closer how is everyone getting to the airport? Getting a ride, taking a shuttle, driving and parking your own car?

This is a good question, and one I should probably figure out the answer to. I don't live with my dad so either I can grab a taxi and pick him up on the way, or my mom can drive me and pick him up, or we'll meet at the airport.

Ohhh I think that is what my grown up job would be. Love it. Or selling DVC which I know nothing about but I just love getting other people excited about Disney :)

We'll be getting a taxi to take us, the airport is not far for us only about 10-15 mins, and we leave early morning. We don't want to pay for parking either so this saves us.

I plan to work for Disney for a retirement job. Long way off tho.

I refuse to take a job in the themeparks. I worked for six flags for 6 years as ride operators, show hostess, merchandise, Guest Relations, and Market research. I learn to much about that park then I cared to know (lots of bad stories) and don't want that happening with Disney. Want to keep as much of the magic alive for me and be able to give it to others when they stay with Disney.:thumbsup2

We will drive to Syracuse on the 22nd, stay overnight at the Candlewood Suites right across from the airport, and get a shuttle from the hotel to the airport the next day.

Our hotel stay was $40 (thanks to our Priority Club points) and parking will be an additional $5 per night after our initial night's stay, for a total of $75 for the accommodations + parking. To park at the Syracuse airport for the duration our trip would have been $80. So we come out $5 ahead and get an extra night of family fun. We have our sights set on a return visit to Dinosaur Barbecue! :cheer2:

We are driving to Buffalo the night before our trip and staying at a hotel across from the airport. The shuttle will bring us to the airport in the morning.

As a kid I had no Disney recognition I guess. I mean I loved all the movies, but I don't ever remember asking my parents to take me to Disney World. So I can't say I ever wanted to work there, but I do remember getting pamphlets in the mail when I was a senior in high school about the college program! I do kind of wish I had looked into that a bit.

Mmmmm they just put a Dinosaur BBQ near where I live and we LOVE it.

We also got our Mickey Mail today. :cool1: We are 34 days out for our package, but have a room only for 2 days before that.

QOTD: Now that we're getting closer how is everyone getting to the airport? Getting a ride, taking a shuttle, driving and parking your own car?

My FIL is going to drop us off at the airport (he has a client nearby) and my mom is going to pick us up. It's their usual routine lol.

My Mickey Mail came Saturday! It made me a little sad that it was only our ME stuff (since we booked a room only), but I was still happy to get it!

Now I just have to figure out who is going to take care of the Cali butt. :cat: We always miss her when we are gone, but DH likes being able to sleep through the night without hearing her do her laps around the apartment around 3-4 am lol.

I also need everyone's opinion. I have Via Napoli (lunch) and Akershus (breakfast) booked on the same day. We definitely can't do both but I also can't make up my mind of which one I want to keep lol. Has anyone done both? Which one would you pick?

I'm still waiting for my ME tags. It's the only mail I will be getting, because we're staying on points, no package. I hoping for tomorrow

We're driving two hours to the airport, but using an outside shuttle service that had a coupon, so 7 days is only $36. AA pushed back our first flight by an hour so now we don't have to leave the house until 5 am! I'll have both my coffee mugs in the car (;

LOL! Well, I would have loved to have been a character at Disneyland.
The closest I got to that was working at Magic Mountain (in calif) as a character. That was my job for about three years while I was in college.
It's kinda funny though..I was going to school called Cal-Arts, which is an art school founded by Walt Disney that specialized in animation.
Which is what I was going there to learn.
So while I was there, I worked part time at magic mountain as a character. Playing mainly "bugs bunny", but also "Daffy", "sylvester", "Wiley". etc...
It was ALOT of fun! And there is definitely a magic to it all. :yay:

Of course I stopped with the character job when I finished school and got into my career as an animator. LOL! But it's something I still look back fondly on.

We are driving three hours to Philadelphia airport... Cheapest non-stop flight we could find, Odd that its going to take us longer to drive there then to fly to Orlando. We booked a stay-park-fly, so a shuttle will take us and pick us up.

Completely different experiences considering you see the princesses at Akershus and Via Napoli is just Italian. :-) Could you push Via Napoli to dinner instead? I wasn't a huge fan of the food at Akershus (normal breakfast buffet for the most part), but you're not really going for the food in that case. Really liked Via Napoli when we went last year. Food was good, server was awesome, and it was a fun, but loud, atmosphere. We didn't mind the noise though since we had 2 kids with us! :-)
