ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

We set up a US account at our bank two years ago. We opened it with $200. Our intention was to buy American money when the Canadian dollar was high.

Well, you know what they say about good intentions.....Now our account is sitting there with, yup, you guessed it... $200 in it, and I bet I'll have to pay a service charge to take it out! :rotfl:

Lol oh yeah service charges i'm sure lol

Has anyone ever done the AMC Fork and Screen at Downtown Disney? It looks like fun. I think I will save it for our December trip since the next instalment of The Hobbit comes out that week. I think it would be a nice break from the high crowds of that week too.
Any experiences?:)

I haven't been to that one but there is one by my house that I just went to. It's a lot of fun! The food is like typical TGI Fridays or Applebee's food but its definitely worth checking out :)

Thank you!! We love the LOTR movies, have one night without plans or ADR's on our Christmas trip and I think this would be the perfect thing to pencil in for that night:goodvibes

We went back in August 2011. It's fun but pricey, and a bit weird eating in the dark. You just have a little shelf in front of you attached to seats in front. Worth doing once for the experience. Wouldn't do it again with all the other on property food options. Too much Disney Dining, too little time...

I wondered about that a bit. I tried to imagine eating pasta in the dark. It wasn't a pretty thought:rotfl2:
I thought maybe just chicken fingers or something easy to eat. More because the kids would think it was a neat idea and we have nothing like that around here.

We're doing it this trip because my DH and kids are movie buffs and they'll think that's great!! My friend who goes down every year, says they love it and do it every year! We don't have anything like that around here. I did budget a hefty $200 for tickets and food though...

You'll have to come back and let us know what you thought!:goodvibes
I agree, it looks pricey but I am thinking of it as a once and done thing:)

Has everyone made lots of ADR's for their trip? I just made two tonight...I like planning but hate committing to things...weird combo I know!

No ADR's for us this August. We will eat wherever the wind takes us.......Okay, alright.....I have all my quick service restaurants mapped out! :rotfl: just taking a break from ADR's this trip. :goodvibes

We have 5 adr's for our 17 night trip. Not doing the dining plan this time so we have some of our favorites with Teppan edo, Ohana, and 50's prime time and two new ones with Yak & yeti and the coveted BOG! Paying out of pocket so i couldn't put all the ones we wanted this time but its ok, we're planning on trying new quick service restaurants this trip too!

I just added Yak and Yeti yesterday! Couldn't resist- that makes 5 ADR's for 7 nights and no meal plan!!!!

I am SOOO jealous of your BOG reservation! I have been checking everyday but no luck :( We may just have to try getting in there for lunch.

Keep trying oh and go stalk the august adr cancelled thread in the dining section... We snagged this one only about 2 months ago after someone cancelled! You can also try a walk up reservation once you arrive!

I have booked 9 ADR's for our 8 day trip. We have the regular DDP with FD.
I booked Teppan Edo, BOG, Via Napoli, Chefs de France, Sanaa, Kona (dinner), Tusker House (lunch), Mama Melrose and Chef Mickey (breakfast). Most of these are new to us even though this is our 4th trip and have always had the dining plan. We love trying new things.

I agree. Keep stalking the website! Also, talk to the concierge when you get to your resort. With some Disney magic, I was able to add my sister and her family to my Ohana reservation the night of! (She surprised us by flying down to meet us last August! She's coming with us in Nov this year and we booked it in advance this time! LOL) It never hurts to ask (beg) when you are there in person! :)

I have 10 adrs for our 9 night trip. It is our first time at wdw and I may have gone a little overboard. We are paying oop, no ddp.

I have decided we can't do BOG for lunch our first MK day. :sad2: We have a 8:30 ADR at 1900 PF then would have to get inline for BOG around 10:30 or 11am to eat by 12noon...I think that would leave us too full early in the day. What with only 2 meals a day I don't want the kids to be refusing to eat food at lunch and starving later around 6pm. We have a BOG ADR for our 2nd MK day so we do get to eat there, I just wanted to experience both.

I think that's a wise choice. We went to 1900PF for breakfast on our last trip. By the time all is said and done you probably won't even be out of there and at the MK until 10:30. It's a much better idea to save your next meal for later in the day.:)

As for me and the ADR question. I have 7 nights of the DDP and 7 ADR's. Problem is Hoop Dee Doo is 2 credits per person for dinner. So I tentatively scheduled an ADR at The Plaza for one of our MK evenings but I can cancel it the day before and we can just have counter service twice that day if we are over budget or we change plans.
Because we are doing 2 nights at the airport hotel and one at AoA I actually have 2 full days where we won't be on any dining plan (the first full day and last full day). I think for those days we are planning to use the foodcourt at AoA, Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express:)
We always try to hit WPE at least twice and EOS is a new favourite for us:)

I am trying to move around ADRs to see if it's detrimental if we lose a day for my insane "want to do a split with CR" plan...we'd have the DxDP for the first part of the trip (4nights) and I'm trying to stretch that into 5 days worth of meals. Then OOP for the last 3 nights (basically 2.5 days) but I also don't want to give up all the places we wanted to eat in order to do this...

I think I might be the most sad about giving up the dessert party, BUT I would live...
