ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

I've got to do online checkin. I've also got to get a bathing suit coverup, which is shockingly difficult to find for some reason. I just want something I can throw over my bathing suit to go to the pool, but I can't find something that fits the bill. I also need to arrange with my dad who is bringing what into the park so I can decide what bag to bring. Hopefully I can convince him to carry my rain jacket for me so that I can bring my favourite camera bag that doesn't have a ton of room for extras.

I bought a coverup at Disney last year. It is white terry cloth and it zippers up. There is a mickey in the front and the hood has a mickey pattern on the inside. It is really comfy!

We've got to figure out what clothes we will buy for this trip, if any. I'm thinking we may pick up one or two of the Columbia Omni Freeze shirts that get cooler as you sweat, because Lord knows we'll be sweating! :rotfl2:

We want to get new swimsuits for the kids. They are rapidly outgrowing their current ones and I want to get the ones with the swim shirt to help minimize sunburn.

Shoes for the kids are another thing to get. Still debating on Crocs or Vibram FiveFingers for them. DD1 really wants FiveFingers like her mom.

Backpacks for the kids and markers to do autographs. Someone on the facebook group did this on a previous trip. They had the characters sign their backpack with an oil or paint marker instead of an autograph book. Then the kids used the backpack for school that year.

Still need to decide if we're going to order water or just pay for it/use drinking fountains/etc. Ditto for food. We're not typically a family to go back to the resort for breaks but we had planned on it during this trip. We'll have to see how it plays out.

We have to shop for school supplies because on our return we have Meet the Teacher night where the supplies get dropped off at the school.

Some of this, like the clothes and shoes purchases/decisions, will have to wait until the kids return from their summer vacation as well.

Otherwise that's it. :) :rotfl2:

My wife got some nice coverup dresses from nomorerack.com. 4 of them for $26 if I remember correctly. She's used them for swim coverups as well as just a regular summer dress.

I am glad you decided to do the backpacks:) We used an opaque metallic caligraphy style pen. We found it at an art supply store. Take the backpack with you to test it. We could not find a sharpee that worked.

I shared this on the FB page, but it was so awesome, I had to share it here too!

A friend of mine took her dd, age 4, to Disney World for the first time in June. The day of their flight we had storms in DFW and their flight was delayed. They ended up being the last flight in, but still managed to get there for ME, but only part of their luggage made it. My friend's suitcase, that had her dd's princess gowns in it, did not make it. She was up all night calling the concierge, apologizing to them that she kept calling. She finally explained to them that she needed that suitcase as they had Akershus breakfast ADRs, and her dd needed her princess gear! Lo and behold, the next morning at 6 am, a cast member knocked on their door with two boxes, a balloon, and a card. Inside the boxes were a Belle dress, a tiara, and gloves. The card was signed to her daughter from Belle!! So amazing. I teared up when she was telling me today.

QOTD: With only about a month to go for us, give or take, what is on your Disney to do list?

I dont' really even know!! That freaks me out a little that I am not sure what else I need to do! I am still waiting on my MM to arrive. I have started making packing lists.....

I have to buy a new Point and shoot camera - Hoping for waterproof lol. need to buy a couple more shirts for our trip and other than that convert some canadian money to US (hoping the dollar rises for us soon!) and then we're waiting for Mickey Mail and ready to go!

I think we're in hurry up and wait mode right now. The last thing I needed to take care of was airport parking. Yesterday, I found a price I liked and reserved it. So not much going on right now. Once we get down to about 10 days we'll be in full on travel mode. That's when I'll start packing and order some breakfast stuff from soap.com, etc.

Is there a way to get cheaper airport parking?
At our airport, parking is $10/day and we'll be keeping the car for 9 days.

Those are the awesome stories I love to hear and why I keep going back to Disney... :-)

I know for Buffalo airport they have a coupon on the airport website for their lots. It helps a bit. And sometimes the park/sleep/fly packages at the hotels near there work out cheaper than just parking at the airport.

I have a 9pm too but it's our last night there and I really want to watch wishes that night. I'm so torn on what to do!

That's a tough one- I hate missing fireworks!! At the same time, I can't wait to eat at BoG. (My res is at 8:30pm so pretty late too...) Will you be able to see Wishes another night? I would keep stalking the website every day--I managed to score the elusive Le Cellier ADR last summer like ten days before our trip!

Thanks.
I priced out the park/sleep/fly packages and all the hotels came out quite expensive. This is IAD airport so it's expected.

I like this site a lot!
http://www.airportparkingreservations.com (retailmenot.com has coupon codes for them, too.)

We got 8 days for $5/day. It beat the coupons available online at each of the places I checked out, plus they compare prices at several different locations. You can sign up for their rewards program and earn discounts pretty quickly.:thumbsup2

SuperShuttle van service in your area? Depending on how many of you are traveling, it might be cheaper to use their service.

There are 4 of us traveling and for pickup at our home and driving us to the airport, then picking us up at the airport and taking us back home, was a total of $111 for all of us.

It works out really neat... you schedule what time you want them to pick you up, and they pick you up right at your house/apartment. No worrying about leaving the car, the gas to drive to the airport, worrying about the car the entire time you are gone, etc.

We used them the last few times we went, and it worked out great!

We have ohana reservations one night to watch wishes from there, but I don't feel like I'd be ending my trip right if I didn't end it with wishes. Sigh.

Do you have a Kohl's nearby? I got mine there and I love it, it's white and sleeveless and zips up the front. My dd didn't want that kind so she just got an oversized button down denim shirt. Good luck finding one, I spent a few years looking for what I really wanted.

I found really cute ones at target. They are like little dresses so you just throw it on

Thanks for the tips! We don't have Kohl's where I live and we only recently got Target (and it's not very close by), but I ended up finding a cover-up dress at Walmart today. It was pretty lucky because I never go to Walmart, but I accompanied a friend and there they were!

I wouldn't - it's just like holding a spot in a ride line, especially in Disney where dining is as much an experience as rides are. And at BOG lunch cast members will give you a menu to look at while you wait so that by the time you get the kiosk you're ready to order, so they might stop you from holding a place.
Well OK, when you put it that way I guess you are right....:sad1:
QOTD: With only about a month to go for us, give or take, what is on your Disney to do list?
OMG!! If it wasn't for this QOTD and Momto3gr8boys answer we would have forgotten to pay off our trip and lost our reservations we made in September!!!!
But now that Mom paid I can focus on what else I need to do:
Purchase appropriate foot ware, hat(s), gallons of sun screen, shorts, new Keens for both girls, cheap cameras for the girls, convince Mom a back pack is the best park bag and if she doesn't like it to let me lugg it around, purchase leak proof water bottles, replenish aid powder for water, ponchos, frogtoggs, and win the lottery - getting ready is more expensive then the trip!!!
I need to:
Pay my balance lol...today is 46 days out for us. But it's actually my TA who needs to pay it. I would have thought I'd see it hit this morning.
Thanks, I owe you one!!!

Our new luggage just arrived (Kohl's free shipping is fast! I just ordered over the weekend!) and DD is so excited! She keeps putting her baby brother in it and saying they're ready for Disney (:
This is sooooo cute!!!

Thanks.

We've used this site for Buffalo and had a fabulous experience. It was recommended highly here on the Disboards. I believe the hotel was $112 and that included parking for up to 14 days and free breakfast. It was about 5 or 6 miles away but had a continuously running shuttle and we had no problems.

You might want to check it for IAD.:)

Thanks. I will look into both these options.
